Yeah, they are going CB in round 1 unless something crazy happens. Like a 3rd of the list is CBs.Steelers Depot has a running list here -- I've always found their info to be very reliable:

He's played LB for 2 years but of course that still means he's raw. Some people seem to love him (Bucky Brooks thinks he'll be better than Khalil Mack) but taking a guy that high with a lot of it based on his potential worries me. I also dont like that one of his biggest weaknesses is his physicality/strength and his pass rushing ability is totally reliant on his speed. If they take him I wont hate it because he could end up being very good, but Id prefer the CB or WR who should be available there and poses less risk IMO and more of an immediate impact.Gilbert is the only CB on par with Barr as far as talent IMO. Barr is an impact player, top 10. He's raw and needs coaching/development. He's only played LB for 1 year. I think Pitt would love to mold him into the type of player they want.
All valid concerns. I'm in the camp that loves him though and have been for a while. I think he's a top 10 player in the class. Some agree with me, some don't. I guess all that matters is if the Steelers do. If they have him rated as highly as I do I don't think they pass on him despite the need at CB. Barring Gilbert is gone of course. He's played LB for 2 years but of course that still means he's raw. His pass rushing skills may be overrated.
Weaknesses push him to later in the 1st round
What if he's available and some other team really wants him and gives a nice offer to swap spots? That's what I'd want to happen. Swap spots, get an extra pick and still get a Fuller or Roby. I dont get this line of thought. Its more likely he's there at 15 than Gilbert or Dennard it would seem, but maybe your post was tongue in cheek. Probably 2 of the 3 will be there. Maybe even all 3 CBs but I doubt it.Signs certainly point to Fuller...which of course means it won't be Fuller.
The "of course means" is alluding to the purposeful misinformation that is fed to the media. Such and such is going this way, this guy is a lock for this team. Then when the draft comes it's someone completely different. It was sort of tongue in cheek, not from what I think they should do and who might be available, but from the history of teams purposely trying to mislead other teams through the media.I dont get this line of thought. Based on your latter post, why do you want Roby?! I understand trading down based on this draft and the current roster, but Roby is just as much on my DO NOT DRAFT list as Benjamin is in the 1st
Love that top 4.FWIW (admittedly not much), here are my predictions for the Steelers in 2014
1. Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech
2. Stephon Tuitt, DE/DT, Notre Dame
3. Donte Moncrief, WR, Ole Miss
4. Carl Bradford, LB, Arizona State
5a. Jerick McKinnon, RB, Georgia Southern
5b. Trey Burton, TE, Florida
6a. Quincy Enunwa, WR, Nebraska
6b. Jemea Thomas, CB/S, Georgia Tech
7. Beau Allen, NT, Wisconsin
Burton is my fun pick. He is undersized (6'2", 225) as a full time NFL tight end but is among the most versatile offensive players in the draft. He played every offensive skill position in college and could literally line up anywhere.
I doubt the Steelers would take him but this is MY draft and I'll blow the 5th round compensatory pick just to see what Todd Haley and Big Ben could dream up with Burton.
McKinnon is a physical freak, strong and fast. They brought him in for a visit so it would seem there is some interest. If he can catch the ball he would be very interesting.Would love that but several places have Bradford as a 2nd rounder.
True but rankings for this draft have been all over the place. I've seen him going as high as 2nd and as low as the end of the 4th. Probably wishful thinking on my part but what the heck.Would love that but several places have Bradford as a 2nd rounder.
Very true, take rankings for what they're worth. He very well could be there. McKinnon...if they took him any chance they convert him to D? He did play some CB and some think that's where teams are thinking of playing him. If he can play CB in college maybe he could be a nickel CB or a S in the NFL. That strength/speed combo is way intriguing.True but rankings for this draft have been all over the place. I've seen him going as high as 2nd and as low as the end of the 4th. Beckham Jr maybe.Great news for those hoping for a trade down.
All the buzz about Johnny Football won't make it past Dallas @ 16 means Pittsburgh has the perfect spot for a trade up scenario. Could get crazy if he's still on the board at 15.
Does anyone know who SF would target if they trade up in round 1?
I was just thinking about that exact thing this morning. Agree 100%. Between that and the Jets being "mortal locks" to draft a speed WR at #17, anyone at the bottom of the draft that wants a shot at a guy like Beckham or Cooks needs to get in front of the Jets. Definitely a chance for a move down tonight.Great news for those hoping for a trade down.

Speedy WR or CB, I would think.Great news for those hoping for a trade down.

And I don't think Tennessee drafts Manziel with the taste of Locker still in their mouths. I think they'd go Bortles if he's there, but I don't think they'd draft Manziel. It would be nice if Manziel was still there at 15 for us to trade down. It would start to become a real possibility of that happening if he falls past MIN at 8 since the only team who would take a QB between 9-14 is TEN as the order is currently set.
Ive also heard Beckham is the guy SF wants, but Id have to think if they were to trade up - which almost seems more likely than not with all the talk and they amount of picks they have - it would be with a team picking ahead of us because despite all the recent talk of us going CB, Beckham could end up being our pick.
I'm finding myself rooting for abtrade down more so than any one specific player. Could change based on who may fall but right now, I'm praying that someone like Philly or San Fran is willing to part with a 2nd in order to move up to 15.This thread has been surprisingly quiet this week...Steelers fans not excited for the draft this year? Regardless of who it ends up being, we should be getting a great prospect tonight.
HERE WE GO![]()
Wait you want Manziel for the Steelers? Are you drunkI thought Bortles going so early may have ####ed us on Manziel being there at 15, but so far so good with only Minny and Titans it would seem to dodge. I thought CLE trading down, then up, was surely because Manziel was their pick. Browns screw us out of Gilbert, but they did good work on the trade down it looks like.

Keep yo' mouf shutStarting to hope Ebron drops past NYG.
Or trade down.
SF may trade in front of them for him.I just get the feeling they've locked in on Fuller.

Nice job IB! ha.Keep yo' mouf shutStarting to hope Ebron drops past NYG.

Sort of glad DET took him. If they didnt, they very well couldve picked a CB instead. Maybe Ebron is the next Jimmy Graham, maybe not, just didnt seem like a pick the Steelers should make considering the current state of the team and personnel.Keep yo' mouf shutStarting to hope Ebron drops past NYG.

Beckham's too smallNice job IB! ha.Keep yo' mouf shutStarting to hope Ebron drops past NYG.

I didn't want Ebron or Gilbert for Pittsburgh anyhow. We need a TE who will block and a CB who isn't afraid to tackle. Calling it now...Steelers will run sweeps in the direction of Gilbert hard and heavy.
I'm pulling for Beckham Jr and Fuller to be there. If not, please find a way to trade down.
For Fuller? All Ive read is Beckham is their target.SF may trade in front of them for him.I just get the feeling they've locked in on Fuller.
I bet SF would still trade up for Cooks. They want speed at WR and Cooks has incredible hands which is rare for speedsters. For Fuller? All Ive read is Beckham is their target.SF may trade in front of them for him.I just get the feeling they've locked in on Fuller.
Cooks looks real good. After reading the article I posted here the other day, I almost wish we took him. Ton of heart and character, with the skills to matchI bet SF would still trade up for Cooks. Certainly not out of the question if the Rams don't take him here. Jets may also want to trade up for him. Chance they trade with us.Cooks looks real good.
