I imagine this might be a good spot to allude to some predicted numbers A certain site via Twitter listed the top eight or so QB's for yardage Rodgers name wasn't present and the list was only for NFC QB's One might say Rodgers best serves your team as a backup?? Also of note Hilton had @ eight games w/ 30 yds or less last Seasontangfoot said:Bought 1.01 in a 12-team PPR for Aaron Rodgers and TY Hilton.
Since the old saw about "mileage" and "age came up, here is my take. Age matters for RBs. Mileage--not so much. A great player will get a lot of mileage because they are great, so teams will use them a lot. Less great players or players who get hurt or who are smaller tend not to get as much mileage. I want great players. People are not cars. Mileage is true of cars as the combustion engine is under extreme pressure and heat and use does graduatlly wear it down and parts must be replaced. But the human body when it is in top physical shape does not wear down simply because you run or play football. Injury history is what you should monitor, not how many yards a guy has carried.I don't really think there is a "peak" for RBs in terms of age. I'm sure they get better at pass blocking and some guys have to learn patience, but generally speaking, RBs almost seem binary. They've got it until they don't. Chris Johnson "peaked" at 24. Thomas Jones at 30. Clinton Portis at 22. Curtis Martin at 31.
It's kind of crazy that the last noteworthy fantasy season for Portis was age 27 and for CJ2k it was age 28.
In the past 10 seasons, only Thomas Jones, McGahee, Peterson, Gore, Blount, and Ricky have rushed for over 1000 yards at age 30 or older. If we move it to 29, we only add McCoy, Forsett, Turner, LT, SJax, Benson, and Jamal Lewis.
So I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope of getting more than 3 years out of DJ.
What bluff? I wouldn't trade the 1.1 for Beckham straight up.I offered Rodgers straight up for the 1.01 in Superflex. No response. Offered the same owner Beckham for the 1.01 and Sammy. Also no reply. For clarification I have no intention on trading Odell I just wanted to call his bluff.
If he accepted would you ask for the trade to be over—turned because you were only bluffing?I offered Rodgers straight up for the 1.01 in Superflex. No response. I am truly amazed sometimes at the value placed on a guy that has never played a down in the NFL, I made an offer for the 1.01 and was told it would take Kamara, Michael Thomas my first this year and next. I simply said I guess you slammed the door on any further discussions. While I would take Barkley with the 1.01 he had games that were pedestrian and assured us all he is human and can fail at the next level. I would not mortgage my future for him. What bluff? I wouldn't trade the 1.1 for Beckham straight up.
Crazy ask for 1.01 but sounds like he wanted to slam the door on further discussions. Beckham is coming off a serious ankle injury. Barkley plays a position that is more valuable. It isn't quite that cut and dry on which part someone should want. On the other part I would trade 1.1 for Kamara and Thomas in a heart beat. Without the 1sts. It is obvious he doesn't want to trade it.I am truly amazed sometimes at the value placed on a guy that has never played a down in the NFL, I made an offer for the 1.01 and was told it would take Kamara, Michael Thomas my first this year and next. I rarely understand what you say, but this one takes the cake.I imagine this might be a good spot to allude to some predicted numbers A certain site via Twitter listed the top eight or so QB's for yardage Rodgers name wasn't present and the list was only for NFC QB's One might say Rodgers best serves your team as a backup?? Yeah it has been several years since I have seen discussion about the mileage perspective and how that may or may not affect RB performance.Since the old saw about "mileage" and "age came up, here is my take. Age matters for RBs. Mileage--not so much. A great player will get a lot of mileage because they are great, so teams will use them a lot. As for age, post-28 you start to see most good backs start to slow down and post 30 most backs fall off a cliff. The one exception is Hall of Fame type backs who don't get injured often. They can be effective fantasy players into their early 30s. But there are not many of them.
Hyde is not a Hall of Fame type back.
I'm confused. How were the assets split?14 team non-PPR:
RB Melvin Gordon, Chargers
WR Stefon Diggs, Minny
pick 2.05
Not involved.
Agreed my point was more about how much some rookies are valued over established players and the fact they have never played a down in the league. Time and time again we see sure fire player crash and burn. Barkley may or may not it but it's certainly no for gone conclusion IMO.Beckham is coming off a serious ankle injury. According to the tweet I read it appears there should be @ 12 QB's who perform better stat wise than Rodgers Obviously it doesn't account for TD'sI rarely understand what you say, but this one takes the cake.
seems like a stupid tweetAccording to the tweet I read it appears there should be @ 12 QB's who perform better stat wise than Rodgers Obviously it doesn't account for TD's
Ok so you’re saying your read there are 12 qbs, in the NFC, that will be statistically better than Rodgers if you ignore the vital TD statistic? Sounds like some fake news, unfollow whoever said that. Don’t know why people make arguements like “if you ignore all his rushing yards, tds, and take off 500 passing yds, he no better than Sam Bradford!”According to the tweet I read it appears there should be @ 12 QB's who perform better stat wise than Rodgers Obviously it doesn't account for TD's
PFF posted a list of NFC QB's which didn't include Rodgers nor Wentz to name a few I will try to look for the tweet tonight if I remember The list is a total of 8 I believe I'm just assuming the conference has a Top 4 to addSo which 12 QBs will throw for more yards anyway? Seems a bit...........off
Wentz, cousins, goff, brees, Stafford, cam, garrappolo, Eli, dak, winston, Wilson, Ryan? That leaves smith, Bradford, Trubisky as the only nfc qbs who are “worse”. I suppose anything is possible, but I’d take Rodgers to finish top 5 of that group if healthy. Pretty solid qb group in the nfc. Brees and Eli won’t be around forever but the rest of those guys could easily be the qbs for these teams for the next 6-7 years. Qb needy teams are mostly afc apparently. Anyway, we’re veering way off topic. So which 12 QBs will throw for more yards anyway? Seems a bit...........off
If what you saw was talking about grades from the previous season well Rodgers was injured.PFF posted a list of NFC QB's which didn't include Rodgers nor Wentz to name a few I will try to look for the tweet tonight if I remember The list is a total of 8 I believe I'm just assuming the conference has a Top 4 to add
I'm an idiot. Thanks. Those guys for the 1.01, like the topic is about.
You just forgot what thread you were in. It happens....I'm an idiot. Thanks.
Thing is the guy is better off just saying he’s not available. When a guy comes back with that it typically slams the door on ANY future conversations on any deals.Crazy ask for 1.01 but sounds like he wanted to slam the door on further discussions. We all have done that at some point.
Okay heres the original tweet https://twitter.com/MikeClayNFL/status/981565759359995905If what you saw was talking about grades from the previous season well Rodgers was injured.
Well to be honest, I drafted Wentz to be Rodger's backup last year. It took his injury to finally push Wentz into the starting position. Wentz had outperformed him every week.I just wanna know how a joker can say Rodgers isn't a FF starter.
Brady going to have his 3rd most yardage ever. I’ll call BS on that.Okay heres the original tweet https://twitter.com/MikeClayNFL/status/981565759359995905
Mr. Clay lists his estimate for the Top 10 NFL QB's for passing Yd's (my bad thought it was NFC)
TB12 4,819
Big Ben 4,687
Brees 4,508
Luck 4,479
Rivers 4,473
Winston 4,469
Stafford 4,465
Garoppolo 4,367
Matty Ice 4,246
Capt. Kirk 4,205
Quote on not listing Rodgers " I like to think I'm better at my job than to just throw him on a list because he's good. That'll never happen. "
Now one could easily say while Rodgers ranks in at 11 or 12 But ya may wanna stop and think of names missing ie. Wentz It also may be worth considering the fact that Rodgers turns 35 this Season when calculating rushing yds etc. (imho) IF you have a chance to land Barkley and it only cost Rodgers n' Hilton?? I'd say its a no-brainer
I'm on board with that idea but with the caveat that you need competent owners who are roughly equal in experience. Or in small stakes leagues where people don't get upset about dumb moves.Getting the good end of a deal doesn’t make one a jackass or arrogant.
Personally, I wouldn’t play in a league where owners can veto trades. Especially in dynasty or keeper leagues, owners have their own reasons for making deals.
When you put it in terms of players it's not all that uncommon. That's roughly Todd Gurley for Christian McCaffery and Cooper kupp. The vast majority here wouldn't do that but you can probably find those deals in the trade thread.I have (with players not picks) several times over in high stakes leagues.
I need to have tweet guy in a few of my leagues.According to the tweet I read it appears there should be @ 12 QB's who perform better stat wise than Rodgers Obviously it doesn't account for TD's
Definitely Paul but I somewhat get the confusion.Likely, Paul.
1.01, 1.10, 1.11 and it's not close for meAnother...
L Bell, 1.05
for
1.01, 1.10, 1.11
I agree with this. I've seen people in Fantasy right after a draft or before give away farm for a player who ends up being a complete bust because they put all their eggs in a non established player. One guy in my league spent at least 3 1/2 yrs trying to get back to relevance after two terrible trades.Agreed my point was more about how much some rookies are valued over established players and the fact they have never played a down in the league. Time and time again we see sure fire player crash and burn. Barkley may or may not it but it's certainly no for gone conclusion IMO.
What' is Julio worth at age 29 1/2 by the time the season starts?Julio for 1.01 and mixon.....I was like wtf. He legitimately thought it was a good offer. He then hit me with the "gambles you take are the gambles you make"....DUDE
Add Mixon to the Julio side and at least I need to think for a second before rejecting it.Julio for 1.01 and mixon.....I was like wtf. He legitimately thought it was a good offer. He then hit me with the "gambles you take are the gambles you make"....DUDE
Not so good in my opinion.Just got offered Devonta Freeman, Golden Tate and 1.6 in the 1 league I have the 1.1. Thought it was a good offer but figure those peices wouldn't really help me that much considering I just started the rebuild last season so don't quite have enough to think about being a contender yet
Its really six of this or have a dozen of that I mean Coleman is a FA next Season who could earn a payday While Tate whose a bit older is playing in a contract yr. 1.6 should at least land a potential starter at QB Believe it comes down to a Teams makeupNot so good in my opinion.
I love Julio but that offer was straight trash. Offering up a twilight player for a "generational talent" and another young rb I'm high on is insanity. Julio is gonna have a huge game or two this year but when does the action stop i feel like he's entering twilight andre johnson territory. At any point he could turn into a wr2 or hell wr3. He's never been a td guy and if teams continue to double team him he will struggle more and more to beat the doubles as he ages. Just strange the guy actually thinks I passed on a huge trade opportunity. Opportunity to get ripped off lol. I won this league in 2016 so it's not like I'm a perennial basement dweller that doesn't know what he's doing. What' is Julio worth at age 29 1/2 by the time the season starts?
I worked with a guy who had a bunch of homemade sayings that didn’t make sense, like “beaver up a tree won’t get wet.” Whatever that means. Varying contexts used.wiersface said:Julio for 1.01 and mixon.....I was like wtf. He legitimately thought it was a good offer.
