11th pick redraft (1 Viewer)

I'm in a 12 team redraft, pretty standard scoring (4pts Td pass) with 1 Qb, 2 Wrs, 2 Rbs, 1 Te, 1 rb/wr/te flex, kicker, defense. I have the 11th pick in this year's draft. As far as I can tell, there are only 10 players I think are worthy of first round picks this year. I'm assuming the top five rb's plus Turner, D. Williams, Andre Johnson, Brees and Rogers are off the board by the time I draft. If not, I'll take whichever one falls. I'm positive I can get Steven Jackson in the second, so what do I do with the first pick? I'm debating between Manning, Benson, Greene, Grant, Mathews and Mendenhall. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

AC Forum is a better way to go but I also understand why folks come in here where everyone is hanging out.

At the #11 spot IMO you have only one option. I would go WR/WR on the turn and try to land 2 of the following 5 or 6 WRs...Randy Moss, Austin Miles, Reggie Wayne, Roddy White, Calvin Johnson...some of them come with a little risk but you absolutely cannot sit pat and take the 9th RB off the board. Unless you have a very strong feeling on a player like DWill you could possibly get away with a WR/RB split but the fact is you will have a lot of RBs that fall to you in the 3rd and 4th.

The guys picking early have a preseason top5 RB, you cannot allow them to pick and choose thru the WRs I just mentioned to you. You want them to have to make a choice in going for a QB/WR split which you can overcome or a WR like St Smith Carolina, Anquan Boldin Balt...those tpye of WRs are good but they come with a lot more questions IMO and for reasons I am not going to explain in this brief post.

WR-WR-RB-QB or WR-WR-RB-RB is a good option for those picking late in the 1st round.

Good Luck

With 4pts per passing TD, I doubt any QB's go in the first round and I also doubt Sjax will be there at 2:2. But then again, the mocks I do are PPR, so I could be way wrong. But, I would go wr/wr regardless. I am targeting Austin/Calvin from the 11th spot and possibly the top TE in rd like Clark or Gates. Then in rounds 4-5-6 I will be looking at RB's such as Spiller, Addai, Bradshaw and Best. I am sure you can a decent QB in rd 7 like Cutler or Ryan, which should be fine with only 4 pts per passing TD. Having 2 of the top 3-4 WR's and the #1 or 2 TE should help you close the gap by missing on the top 5 RB's. The next key is finding value in the later rounds with guys like Gaffney, Evans and Zach Miller if you are using a flex. I am targeting Miller at 8:2 because I think he will see many balls from Campbell, but I am in a PPR.
