2 round mock draft in the books ! (2 Viewers)

A playmaking safety works. Really, it should be BPA at this point, they have so many holes.
I think Jason Allen shot up draft boards by looking so healthy. He was expected to be in the mix with Huff and Williams prior to blowing up his hip joint.

Actually, their new DC is Gary Gibbs. He was Dallas' LB coach last year. So lets give him a new toy to play with. The best of the remaining LBs.

Carpenter, Sims, Howard all work.

So at safety, we've got Simpson and Allen.

At OLB we've got Carpenter, Sims, and Howard.

I say Carpenter.

If it's an LB, I agree Sims is the best fit. Wroten might well be the pick, though, due to the relative lack of depth at DT as opposed to LB at this point.

2.02 New Orleans Saints - Ernie A 225 pound OLB with great speed, pursuit and loves to hit. Most have him with a 1st round grade, so NO gets nice value at a needs positions

2.03 Tennessee Titans - (took Young in Round 1)

Fisher is a Buddy Ryan guy. You have to think he's looking defense. Maybe a corner to play opposite PacMan? Anywhere really. Best value? D'Qwell Jackson is going to get interest around here. So will Howard.

2.01 Daryn Colledge by a narrow vote. He hasn't given up a sack in three years and he is noted for being a hard hard worker. He completely owned Kiwanuka in the Boise Bowl. Houston will check him out at LT, probably start him at RT, and know he can updgrade the guards if necessary.

2.02 New Orleans (took Leinart in round 1)

I'm wide open to suggestions.
Colledge would be a great pick. Very under-rated and has the potential to be a franchise LT.

Tennessee could really use depth on the O-line, and maybe an upgrade at LB, but don't rule out a receiver here. Drew Bennett is questionable as a #1 and their other guys are all raw and unproven (Roby, Calico, etc.) They may want a weapon for Young and Sinorice Moss is still on the board.

I thought they were happy with the receivers they loaded up on last year-- Jones and Williams in particular. They want a LT, but Hopkins is holding up and the value is gone.

LBs-- After Bulluck, they're not happy.

TN coaches and GM have made repeated comments about how good this LB class is. They have a need there to get a complement to Bullocks. I'd be shocked if they didnt go LB based on these comments.

That said, I can certainly understand the appeal of a guard.

They took 3 WRs last year. They don't need another one.

2.03 - Tennesee - D'Qwell Jackson, MLB, Maryland. He's a stud in the middle, very instinctive, a team leader, and a Jeff Fisher type. Could end up being as good as Tatupu. They are similar.

2.04 - New York Jets (Took D'Brick in Round 1)

Discuss...

Moss makes some sense for NY. But if they are converting to a 3-4, they will need linebackers. Carpenter is a Vrabel clone.

I've read they'd love to move Vilma to weak side, but he is hard to replace in the middle. Herm is gone, but he was definitely talking about upgrading the D. Too many long long drives.

Cornerback. Ty Law is gone.Richard Marshall

Edit: I guess I'm the voice of dissent in round 2, eh? Or maybe I just don't know much. :bag:

Are they converting to a 3-4?If so, Carpenter is the pick.

If not, Moss or Cromartie might make sense here. Also, Wroten.

I don't know if they have the personnel to convert to a 3-4. Thats obviously what Mangini knows, however. Anyone have any insight here?

2.04 New York Jets - Bobby Carpenter, Ohio State. Big LB who can play outside in the 3-4. It's perfect for him since his aggressiveness and coverage ability could be his only flaw in a 4-3. Here he can attack. IF they are changing schemes, they will be adding LBs. Carpenter should be a good one.

2.05 Green Bay Packer - ON the clock

Nah - they definitely need a corner, you're right. In fact, I mention Cromartie as an option in the post right below yours.

LB seemed better value Andy. We have a tonnage of CBs jumbled together. Third round you get your wish. tommorrow... lol

That was quick... 2.05 - Packers - Jean-Gilles or Charles Spencer

Guard play killed them and Brett Favre last year.

I think Green Bay is in the market for an OLB big-time after passing on Hawk to take Mario Williams in round one.

I think Thomas Howard is a cinch pick here. The Packers may be looking for 2 new starters at OLB, and there is a big drop-off at OLB after Howard IMO - he's a physical specimen and a great upside pick here.

I may miss the Lions pick since I'm leaving for home now, but when their pick comes seriously consider secondary help.

I'll be back for teh middle rounds. Good stuff.

I like the guard value here. I'm with Andy.

Gilles on the frozen tundra = splattered DT
Considering they blew out their guards last year, I can agree with this. I did a mock recently where they took a guard here. Jean Gilles or Lutui?

Guard is a distinct possibility here, and there's value, but I think they may have a decent guard around at 3.5, if they are looking for two new OLBs, this is the spot to take one, or you're looking at guys who cannot possibly start right away. Just my 2 cents.

I'm stepping out for lunch. Be back around 1:30.

if somehow Dallas comes up while I am gone, they better go OLine.

Jean-Gilles since Spencer is better than Lutui.

2.05 - Green Bay - Max Jean-Gilles, G, Georgia. With the departure of Wahl and Rivera Green Bay reloads the interior of the line with a beast who should be as good as any of them.

2.06 San Francisco - No team has more needs and this is where I need a short break.

Discuss. You can move along without me if you come up with a solid agreement.

It makes sense. But if they don't protect Favre, not only will he quit on the spot, but he may go postal.
