wow. Cutler all the way to 16? And Holmes at 30, way after Jackson...? Very interesting. Good job everyone.
I doubt Cutler falls this far, but overall the list looks as good or better than the other mocks out there.Tomorrow - 2nd round?

no true safties are taken, hopefully the Broncos can snag one up in the second....i would like to see Denver move up to gaurantee one of Bing or Simpson. PS good work guyz.

I had a ton of fun participating up until pick 20 or so. Obviously I agree and disagree with with some of the picks. Overall a solid effort. I would like to re-do this one in a couple of weeks. Most glaring errors/questionable picks for me......

9...I like Huff there

12. I have no real idea.....I just think it's a reach. I see a LB going to Cleve.

18. I still say Dallas takes Carpenter.....but I have silver and blue glasses.

Other than that.......it looks pretty sound.

I'll stop by tommorrow for round 2.

Thanks EG..great idea!

Dallas homer here I love the Manny Lawson pick. He would fit greatly opposite Ware. Two pure speed rushers who could control the flats and blitz the QB. Would be a great combo.

Like I said I like him too. I think Carpenter gives more options he can play both ILB and OLB, with having great size and intagibles. We need a run stuffer who makes tackles besides James. Who plays the ILB postition then? Do you see Burnett playing inside or us getting a FA LB?

Interested in your thoughts.....

Thoughts on Burnett.

He was drafted last year in the second round, 41st overall. He was a versatile LB in college, team captain, etc. Excellent pedigree.

Coming out of college, before mini-camp, he had surgury on his hip. This kept him out of the offseason program. At training camp, he was behind the other rookies. He really struggled early in the season.

By midseason, he played some on special teams and was only adequate. But then Singleton went down and Fujita was forced into action at LOLB. The Chiefs game saw them run right very effectively, over Fujita. Burnett came in and made several tackles. He was showing flashes.

Parcells said during the season that Burnett would likely end up at MLB. But since he started the year outside, he didnt want to move him during the season, particularly given his struggles to adapt to the NFL game.

Burnett tore his ACL in practice the week before the end of the season. So he will miss much of the offseason program again. Parcells did say that you can do a lot of rehab in 4 months, so maybe he would get some offseason program work in. He definitely should be ready for camp.

At this point, I don't think you can give up on Burnett. Give the guy 3 years before making a final determination. I was ready to cut Bradie James after his second year. But he turned out to be the leader of the LB corp last year (his third in the league) and should be a mainstay for several years.

Burnett has far too much pedigree to give up on him now. Certainly enough that you would not want to invest another high pick on an ILB. I do expect Dallas to draft an OLB high this year. That moves Burnett to ILB, as Parcells suggested. I have a hard time seeing a second linebacker being drafted early by Dallas this year. Maybe sign a FA vet to add experience for a year. But not another draft pick.

Yeah, that was fun, but it wore me out. Irt, Cleveland 1.12 Brodrick Bunkley. That's just a great choice. There's few picks here that I am more confident in. I posted several comments from Savage and Crennel and they are all about getting tougher in the trenches. D-Line, according to them, is first priority. They can find an LB of comparable potential later. Bunkley is one of this draft's freaks. He is a lean 309 pounds of non stop effort and athletic ability. Just a great fit for a 3-4 D-Line.

This is key IMO. Good DTs for the 3-4 are extremely difficult to find, if he's one, he's the pick.

Cutler has EVERYTHING owner Al Davis covets in a QB swagger, an outstanding arm and good mobility. Davis loves the long ball and this guy can chuck it.
You're assuming he's available to them. I don't buy that the Titans want VY and expect them to take Cutler or D'Brick to replace Hopkins.

I agree that VY may not be going to Tenn. I have a hard time paying 3rd overall pick money for a guy that you know will have to sit at least 1 year and probably 2 years before seeing the field. That is a ton of cap room for a cap-challenged team tied up in a guy that will likely not provide a return on the field for for awhile. Dbrick makes sense.

Super Mario also might surprise. Reggie White and Julius Peppers don't come along very often.....

I'll definitely check back after April 29, because this looks like some kinda commercial for the power of collective intelligence. Seriously, one of the best mocks I've seen. Nice job, guys! :

Anyone want to QB round 2? I will be here most of the day to chime in and post choices, but I may be leaving Lauderdale early afternoon (may also be staying another day, I don't know) and I have a few conference calls this morning, so I won't be able to be as diligent posting the picks and updating the thread. I wouldn't want a second round to die on the vine. if anyone out there has time to kill today and wants to start a new thread for round 2, let's get it on !

Reggie Bush. Anything else (since we're not projecting trades) is just wrong.
:lmao: wrong..!!!

taking Reggie Bush is just wrong..they need so much more than another RB..

Dom davis has been solid behind a BAD line..get some new linemen , maybe Brick, maybe Mawae, and see how good Davis REALLY is..don't forget, Kubiak is a master of getting the most out of average rb's.

1) We weren't projecting trades. 2) They just picked up Carr's $8 million option.

3) They're not taking a tackle with the #1 overall.

So in this scenario, anything other than Bush is wrong.

But thanks for playing.

Anyone want to start a round 2 thread?
I'll participate, but won't run it.
That seems to be the general consensus. I'd do it, but I wouldn't be able to do a very good job and might have to bail halfway through it. Anything worth doing is worth doing right, so I was hoping someone would take the reins.

Another person jumps in without understanding Houston's OL. D'Brick is a left tackle, Pitts is a left tackle playing at a higher level right now than D'Brick will play at next year. Mawae is a center, McKinney is a solid center. They need to fill those positions just as much as RB or QB. Bush is the right choice. With the #1 overall pick, you take the best football player. Three teams passed on Tomlinson because they didn't need a back. All three teams made a big mistake. Passing on Bush is a mistake. Running Backs get injured all the time, depth is important. And Houston's run blocking has been fine. They need guards and a RT, especially a RT. He should be available right now in this mock draft. They need defense too. They were last in the NFL in team D.

if anyone out there has time to kill today and wants to start a new thread for round 2, let's get it on !
New thread? We don't need no stinkin' new thread!2.01 Houston Texans - (they took Bush in round 1)

Since they have two early 3rd rounders it wouldn't be crazy to address the D here, but OL is probably the best call. I think Colledge is a perfect fit for Denver, and Kubiak will be bringing that scheme here. Daryn Colledge?

ETA: I'll try to QB this, but Round two will be Edited into this post on pg 12. EG, you can paste it to the first post whenever you have time.

I won't do as good a job as you did yesterday, but with a little help and input, getting started now, we should be able to finish the round about the same time as yesterday.

Houston:

Take the best of the guards. Gilles or Latui.

Take a linebacker: Carpenter, or the UTEP guy.

Tackle is not at value with the top 5 off the board.

Cool. I'll be around much of the day, but there are going to be at least 2 stretches where I'll be gone for at least a half-hour, and I may be logging off for the day at about 4.

Colledge is pretty good. You think Gilles or Lutui grade higher? I'd go with Gilles over Lutui (barely), but I'm very uncertain because Lutui was a stud RT while Justice was out 2 years ago, and that's the LT role because Leinart is a lefty. He is versatile. So, more input. Colledge, Lutui, Jean-Gilles?

Here's an interesting thought for the Texans.

They got almost nothing from their tight ends last year. A safety valve like Leonard Pope or Marcedes Lewis may not be a terrible pick.

We need a list of picks already made

I'll update this post.

If all signs are that Kubiak is going to bring the same zone-blocking scheme to Houston that Denver employs, Colledge is the best fit, although it might be a bit of a reach. He's got much quicker feet than O'Callahan, who is more of a bruiser. Undersized, athletic lineman work better in the Denver scheme.

2.01 Daryn Colledge by a narrow vote. He hasn't given up a sack in three years and he is noted for being a hard hard worker. He completely owned Kiwanuka in the Boise Bowl. Houston will check him out at LT, probably start him at RT, and know he can updgrade the guards if necessary.

2.02 New Orleans (took Leinart in round 1)

I'm wide open to suggestions.

The only other option here is to look at their d-backs.

Their SS was Glenn Earl and their CB opposite of Robinson was Demarcus Faggins.

Let's move to New Orleans. Everyone wants to see them address the OL, so we did. Ridge may have understood value better with Gilles and Lutui, but so be it. Colledge does seem like a Kubiak guy. The whole defense is holes.

N.O. solved their QB problem - they need to go defense with these next two picks. Front 7, in particular, IMO.

Wroten, Rod Wright, Carpenter, Thomas Howard?

If I recall the LBs were just awful last year. The DL is pretty solid-- 3 good DEs, one probably leaving, and a good tackle.

I think the loacl guy, Wroten would be a cinch here if not for the weed bust. Still, he has first-round talent and ties to the area. i think he might be the pick here. I don't know how well Carpenter fits in their defense, but I just can't see him dropping much farther.

Their D-ends are nice. Ron McKinnon and Colby Bockwoldt played okay, but the other OLB position was manned by Terrence Melton and Sedrick Hodge. An OLB makes a good pick. Either Carpenter or Howard would do.

In all seriousness. A LB makes sense. Sims carries first round talent but needs to be in a 4-3.

TE has some appeal.

DT Wroten works too.

They play a 4-3, no?

Sims, Carpenter, Howard-- who grades highest? Howard had a great Combine, seems a little raw at the Senior Bowl.
