2 round mock draft in the books ! (1 Viewer)

2.16 Minnesota Vikings - Duece Latui, OG, USC - Minny takes one of the best guards in the draft to replace mountain main Fonoti.

2.17 Dallas Cowboys - Took Lawson earlier...

Dallas will take the best Olineman on the board. Yes, they will sign FA Fabini to play RT. But the cubboard is bare for quality young Olinemen in Dallas. Particularly if Gurode leaves as a FA.

A versatile guy like Spencer really fits the Bill.

You can argue safety. But I think they take a FA like Chavous.

You can argue NT. I can see a guy like Dvoracek here as well. But Spencer is too much value at a need position.

Didn't Latui get drafted already?

Still need a tackle. Best available are O'Callaghan and Trueblood. They also may look safety - Donte Whitner or Daniel Bullocks.

I say Bullocks. (heh heh)

I expect Dallas to sign Fabini to play RT. But if they don't its by far their biggest need.

Whitworth and O'Callahan are the best on the board right now. I really dont like Trueblood.

O' Callahan would fit nicely in Dallas. Could play T or G.

But really, their pick should be the best Olineman, regardless of position. Joseph may be better value right now.

I can also make an arguement for a TE. Dallas plays a lot of 2 TE sets. Dan Campbell is effectively gone. Byrd would complement Witten very well.

As for safety, I actually think higher of Keith Davis than most. He learned a lot last year as it went along. I don't see it as quite as dire of a need as many.

I'm a diehard Boys fan and your insights have been very solid. I won the Lawson battle with someone else. You can make this one. At least you care. :D

O'Callaghan

2.17 Dallas Cowboys - Ryan O'Callahan, OT, California - Dallas takes the best offensive lineman available. He may not start, but Dallas badly needs young blood along the offensive line. The versatile O'Callahan can play guard and gives Dallas much needed depth.

2.18 San Diego Chargers - Chad Jackson earlier.

And I guess the mock dies after Dallas. Going to sign off for awhile since there seems to be no input.

:( I'll try to keep her goin'...

I have two to three hours to waste. I'm linking this monstrousity in the blog, so... help.

San Diego - 2.18 Donte Whitner, S, Ohio State - SD needs to address the secondary and OL. Taking a WR first makes that more challenging, but Whitner represents the most value at this point. He may end up in the first round.

Miami - 2.19 - Cutler in the first...

Miami is desperate for CB or Safety help !!!
Bullocks looks like a good versatile safety. Watkins looks like a great ballhawk free safety. Joseph is a solid corner prospect. Jennings is from the area, great in coverage, a little soft in run support.

2.19 Miami - Daniel Bullocks, S, Nebraska - A year ago his twin brother Josh was taken in the 2nd and turned in a nice rookies season for the Saints. Daniel looks just as good if not better. He is a little faster and more of a team guy, leader, intangibles type stuff...

2.20 Pats - Best available I would assume - Took Wimbley as an OLB in the first...

I wouldn't rule out a tall receiver. They have tried to find one for a couple years. Stovall is in my pre-combine mock here. Weiss and all...

Update and bump.

2.20 New England - Jonathan Joseph, CB, South Carolina - The Gamecock's best defensive player came out a year early, and flashed great speed at the combine. He is young and talented. Plays the run tough like Belichick demands. A good fit.

2.21 Redskins - Gave up the 1st to Denver. Where do they start?

Addai is still on the board. He represents great value here.
Not sure what to make of the combine interviews, but a friend said there is a trend if you look at the first ten interviews. I guess they get 60 per team during the combine. NE interviewed 5 RBs in the first ten and didn't talk to Addai or Maroney. I'm guesssing, speculating, thinking, they are taking one with one of the two third rounders.

Redskins:

Safety. DLine. Interior Oline.
Safety, Pollard, Watkins, Blue, Harper... need a free because of Taylor... Watson the best bet.DLine - An End I assume. Edwards, Tapp, Anderson??

OL - Joseph available still? Strong value by now.

2.21 Washington Redskins - Davin Joseph, G, Oklahoma - Many rate him the best guard in the draft. He is very tough, solid in all departments, quick, strong and growing. Very experienced, has the footwork and wingspan to play tackle in a pinch. Sounds like great depth for Gibbs and a starter very soon.

2.22 KC - Took Tye Hill in the 1st...
