2 round mock draft in the books ! (1 Viewer)

Btw Ridge. You're right about Kieth Davis and Roy is unfairly criticized too. I read a detailed analysis somewhere last night at a Cowboy site, and get this. Roy Williams gave up less deep balls than Adrian Wilson, Ed Reed, Brian Dawkins, Troy Polamalu, and John Lynch. His were just all on prime time television. It looked worse than it was.

No I meant Manning but thanks for the update on the other two. I don't normally follow the combine that closely.
He was disappointed in running a 4.42 40, but he was solid everywhere. He has been running sub 4.4 in training. He's a pretty sharp kid.

2.25 Chicago - Pat Watkins, FS, FSU - For lack of interest and time, let's move along. The Bears could go in any direction with this pick, but a true rangy ballhawk at deep safety would just make that defense better. Watkins has unusual range and will not be beaten on jump balls by big TEs and tall WRs. He is a commodity in that regard.

2.26 Carolina - Took Eric Winston, needs a TE. Byrd or Lewis?

Lewis could be a late first rounder. I like him much better.

whichever TE is the better all-around blocker and receiver is the pick here

Is Fasano around? he might fit their offense better cuz of his blocking

2.26 Carolina - Marcedes Lewis,TE, UCLA, They need more targets for Delhomme and to take the pressure off of Smith. A solid pass catching TE will occupy safeties or become a star as Smith is doubled. This is great value in the second round. Lewis is a much better blocker than given credit for, Bloom and I have discussed that a bit around here. We like him more than most.

2.27 Tampa Bay - Took McNeill in the first. Needs to start rebuilding that defense, could go WR.

I gotta leave now, but I will try to check in from the hotel before I leave for dinner to get on board with the Pittsburgh pick.

I'm preoccupied gents. I like Alton. I like Ryan Cook. I like Hagan. I like a couple receivers. Cornerback is a need though. DeMario Minter. Anwar Phillips. Dee Webb. Darell Hunter.

I never did hear what changed the 2nd round order. I haven't had time to check it out. I missed something and I read the draft sites every night.

2.27 Tampa Bay - Derek Hagan, WR, ASU - Had a rough post season, but ran better than expected at the combine. It's a mystery to us Pac 10 fans that he's been dropping balls. He is a notoriously hard worker, dedicated to his craft, and he's made a couple hundred nice catches in college... some of them great great catches. Good route runner. Team first guy. Possession receiver to compliment the Bucs speedsters.

2.28 Jacksonville - Took Youboty at corner in the first. Could use a pass rusher on the outside. Could use a safety in the secondary. Could upgrade OLB as I hear they've lost interest in Ayodele and have concerns for Smith. On the offense Tight End is a weakness. Byrd would be fine by me.

Five to go and this is the time of day I have to fetch the kid. I'll be offline for about an hour. Anybody want to keep this going, fine. I'll be back to push to the end of the round later...

I think Byrd is a great choice for Jax though. Anyone seconds that and we'll be moving on before I go.

2.28 Jacksonville- Dominique Byrd, TE, USC - Jax has loaded up on WRs in the past couple drafts, and still needs playmakers on offense. The fat Reggie Bush, as he refers to himself, is a solid value here. Another underrated blocker who catches everything and is very elusive for his size after the catch.

2.29 Denver - Has Maroney and Kiwanuka. Shanny could do anything with this pick. You tell me. Gotta run!

Alright, if no one else is gonna chime in, Indy gets Dusty Dvoracek to play next to Corey Simon.

Seattle is on the clock.

Easy. Since we took Holmes in the first round after watching him tumble, we now turn out attention to the defensive backfield. Charles Gordan the ballhawk from Kansas. This guy has a nose for the ball.

Don't know anything about Gordan. I presume he plays FS. Seattle has a pretty good young SS in Boulware....

Actually, i see that he is a corner. Trufant is good on one side.

He's a corner. They may be able to move Herndon to Safety but they would take Gordan here because he will play right away. Nickle CB in the second round is gold.

One guy that has slipped that should have been picked up is Joseph Addai. Indy would be all over him at 2.30.

Plug in Addai to Indy, put Dvoracek back on the market.

Alright, Gordon goes to Seattle, per Doctor Detroit.

EG, time for you to make the second rounder for Pittsburgh!

Lewis was already gone and wouldn't Indy have to take Joseph Addai here?
Details, details, Lewis can play in both Denver and Carolina, right?Ok, give Denver.....Joe Klopfenstein.....

sold... 2.30 Indy Colts - Joseph Addai, RB, LSU

Steelers OTC... EG, under pressure.

Is Indy set at safety or corner?
They are rumors that they are considering moving Marlin Jackson to safety to pair with Sanders.. That would leave Jason David, Nick Harper and Kelvin Hayden at corner. If Jackson stays at CB sounds like they'd like a FS to replace Doss.Jon Alston sounds like a good fit for their system at OLB

I checked your blog and noticed Indy interviewed Parys Haralson and Greg Blue.. You think they might be thinking about making them into linebackers? Cato June came out as a safety

Jackson played both FS and SS in his junior year. He is more of a FS to me but I think he can adapt to any position and that is why Indy took him last year.

I need to update that post. I was supposed to get the first ten interviews from all 32 teams, but I don't have it, and probably won't get it. I do have a bunch more information though. I wouldn't put too much weight in who they interview beyond getting a solid feel for positions they are most interested in. Some players who project into the 3rd and 4th rounds get many more interveiws than 1st rounders. Ya know? Why would the Colts bother to interview Mario Williams. Waste of time. That said, yes, Blue and Haralson are both prospects to be moved to OLB. I haven't heard anything definitive about Thornton but I could have missed it. So obviously Dungy is looking for big hitters with high motors to take his spot. They could be targeting someone sooner, and just want to make sure they don't love someone available later.
