2 round mock draft in the books ! (1 Viewer)

Maroney

Dillon has too many miles and already slowed down last year
Smells bad. NE can find an RB elsewhere. They'll seek character and playmaking here for the D. Be it LB or DB, I don't know. NE interviewed 5 RBs with their first round of 10 interveiws and they did not request time with Maroney. Not sure how important that is, but they spoke to Harrison, Hall, Norwood, Drew, and Washington. Sounds like they're looking for their favorite third rounder. They have two third rounders.

To keep things moving :

With the 21st pick, the New England Patriots select DeMeco Ryans, LB, Alabama

He's a heady player and will fit well into the New England 3-4 scheme.

Next up, the Broncos, from Washington. D-line? Safety? RB? WR?
That pick sucks EG. No way he winds up in NE. As said, he is too small. Look at their OLB's, McGinest, Colvin, Vrabel. They are all big guys. The surprise pick would be Kiwi but the more likely pick would be Bobby Carpenter.

So how is the 225 pound Demeco Ryans supposed to hold up against 300+ pound Olinemen? The guy needs the protection of being in a 4-3. He does not fit in a 3-4.

Disclaimer:  I like Carpenter and Wimbley better for NE, but at the time I posted the pick, everyone was on Ryans.  I will likely change this in my final version.
This isn't the Soviet Union. They are stuck with Ryans.
:lmao: I just mean in my final mock draft, version 3.0. Not in this one - once a pick is made in bold, it's done. Unless I backpedal. :D

Denver ? I suppose a safety or maybe a TE or WR . I'll go with a TE. Either Marcedes Lewis or Leonard Pope . Let's call it Lewis.

Where the hell were you guys 15 minutes ago? :D I like Wimbley even better than Carpenter here. Maybe I will go against my word and change it.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LYNCH THE BUM!

RYANS SUCKS FOR NE!!!!

GIVE US CARPENTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Strong and reasonable dissent on Ryans, EG. Let's fix it. Wimbley or Kiwi? Carpenter is 255?
I think Wimbley's the biggest except Kiwanuka, but Wimbley is faster.... 6' 4" 255 with 4.6 speed?

I'm giving you Wimbley. Changing the pick !

Pick changed, New England gets Wimbley. I didn't like Ryans there, and the dissent cinched it.

Now, on to Denver at #22 - and quickly...

Lewis this high after running a 4.79 at the combine?Maybe Santonio Holmes here?

I've lost track of who's been picked. They need a WR, D-lineman, or a RB.Santonio Holmes

D-lineman - did Bunkley ever get picked? Or Gabe Watson

Lawrence Maroney (can you imagine? I think he'd be a stud in Denver.)

Bunkley went #12 to Cleveland. Watson, Maroney, Santonio Holmes, Darnell Bing, Ko Simpson?

He will be someone that can go over the middle and get the ball. They really don't have that right now.

I'm starting to wonder about Denver's plan. But I think Skeletor would have to change his pants if he were able to get Maroney in the fold.

Santonio, Pope, Watson, Maroney (Har!)
In a post Steelers loss interview Shanny lamented having to blitz everyone to get a pass rush. He said it would be his first priority, but he really couldn't think about it while he was mourning.

That's what I am thinking. There's more depth at S than WR at this point in terms of guys being around at #29.

I would imagine they'd love to be able to generate pressure up the middle, which would make Gabe Watson a good fit here.

I posted this in the Bell thread:

More speculation coming from SoCal sports radio. I have to apoligize for missing the name of the Denver beat writer being interviewed, but it was supposedly a writer close to the team.He said, paraprhrasing, "Rumors coming out of Broncoland say Shanahan and his personnel staff rate two rookie RBs who they should be able to draft higher than Bell. The issues are Bell's hands and pass blocking. One is Laurence Maroney, who they might take with their first first rounder. The other is Joseph Addai who they might take with their second first rounder."

I would go with that. Watson is sort of a wierd pick and Shanny is sort of a wierd picker.

You know what? I was hearing talk recently that Bell might get sent to New York as part of a trade of Abraham, which would address the pass-rush issue and leave a gaping hole at RB with Anderson and Clarett both gone. :P

With the 22nd pick, the Denver Broncos select Lawrence Maroney, RB, Minnesota

I know they typically wait, but they probably think Addai will be gone by pick 61 and Bell may be on his way out. They will go WR or DL with their next pick... of course, this is all predicated on a Bell-Abraham trade, which I think will go down if the Broncos throw in a 3rd rounder.

That brings us to Tampa Bay. WR maybe here? OT?

Denver gets the 29th pick too, so this may work out fine and make sense actually. Wow, would this turn the fantasy world upside down.Tampa. Please OT. Winston from Florida. McNeill a big stud. Scott looks great.

I vote McNeill just because I think he will be easier to pass through board inspection and they need OT badly.

I projected Jonathan Scott here last time around and got killed by some Tampa Homers who were sure this pick would be Sinorice Moss. Anyone out there? ML Brandow? Capella?

Brandow is making a homer pick. He definitely has this draft dialed in nicely, but I think he's overrating Sinorice. Besides, they can find very similar WRs later. Well, a little bigger and almost as fast. McNeill!

Kiwanuka is free falling. If TB intends to cut Simeon Rice, Kiwi could be the guy. Very similar player and there are a lot more OT's on the board than impact DE's.

With the 23rd pick, the Buccaneers select Marcus McNeill, OT, Auburn

This 340 pound man-mountain is an instant upgrade to the Bucs' OL, which lacks depth.

24th, we've got the wimpload Bengals. QB? WR to replace the ones that keep getting arrested? S? DL?

Cincinnati is not drafting a tight end. I'll pull the quotes if you want them.

Defense is #1 priority. He has too many weapons doing to well to try and work a pass catching TE in. He wants he TE to block like a tackle.

He wants DL help. A SS to line up with Madieu.

I've seen a few projections that did not include him the first round. Seattle may take him depending on what is left out there and I wouldn't mind that one bit.

Bengals, let me introduce your most needed element. A big mohonkus to plug the middle and keep the stillers from running down your throats.

Gabe Watson.

I just can't find a spot for him. Like you said, he could easily be the NE pick.

I agree completely. Gabe Watson, Ko Simpson, Darnell Bing, and Donte Whitner are the 4 guys I am looking at here. Which of those safeties would be the best match with Madieu Williams?
