Please tell us who you are more afraid to face and why (besides a superior AFC opponent in a possible Super Bowl)BTW I'm not at all afraid of facing this team in the playoffs. Griese needs to be your QB or you are one and done.
I fear NOLA a bit more than Chicago right now. What's amazing to me is how a few select individuals keep coming into Bears threads to try and calm our enthusiasm and tell us how bad the Bears are. We've suffered through years of dissappointment and finally have one of the better teams in the league. Now, when we're doing well and have the best record in the NFC, the haters want to come in and temper our expectations and bash the Bears anytime they have a bad game. Why do you even care? I'm sorry if that's what does it for you. That's pretty sad. What do you bet that if somone compared the number of Bears homer threads/posts to some combination of Rex Grossman's QB rating and the outcome of each week's game that you'd find a direct correllation between the those factors and the number of posts? Front-running at its finest.

The Bears will have home field advantage in the playoffs. And in one of those games bad Rexy will show up and throw three interceptions to lose the game. The Bears are not alright. Grossman has thrown three interceptions or more three out of the last six games. That isn't a few mistakes. That is a major meltdown. And Lovie, stubbornly, won't admit that he is making a mistake and sit him down. What's funny to me is all of those people who think that Griese will step right in and take this team to another level. How can you possibly say that? We have no idea how he will do. And for those who say look at what he did in the preseason, please, he played against guys bagging groceries (no offense Mr.Warner).Bottom line is Rex has made some mistakes, but he has only played in 17 regular season games (I could be wrong). I like having the gunslinger back there. I don't expect Grossman to be perfect for 16+ games. Bad games happen. Look at Brady's game a couple weeks ago (4 Int's). I'm not comparing the two, just point out examples.I think the Bears are fine. They have a two game lead on home field advantage and 4 game lead on the division.
WoW! I love coming up here and the "Johnny Come Lately" types take their shots. This game could have went either way and it went to the Pats. Great game. Tip your hat. The Bears are going to play well and be in most games. Yes- I agree that Grossman is going to kill us in the playoffs but this game would have been an easy win if we run the ball. Could have would have should have. Bears have to make a decision- develop Grossman at the expense of a lost season or go with the vet. And run the damn ball either way! Great win Pats- hopefully we can get you in the Super Bowl if we both make it....

The Bears are fine, sure. But they could be great, IMO, if Grossman would stop screwing up. I don't think anybody expects him to be perfect but come on! Some of those throws were down right moronic. I don't think they should bench him but they need to somehow address the problem now. I think to an extent Rex is getting coddled by Lovie and co. (maybe this is my assumption and who knows what's going on behind the scenes but thats my impression)What's funny to me is all of those people who think that Griese will step right in and take this team to another level. First of all, I'm not one of those few select individuals who "keeps coming into Bears threads . . ." Second, I'm not into raining on anyone's parade, however nobody's been noisier this year than Bears fans in proclaiming their team's greatness. Funny enough, Dennis Green's "crown their ###!" meltdown was pretty on-point. The Bears are a good team that has some obvious flaws, but you wouldn't know it around here when they win, and when they lose all you hear are the crickets. This isn't directed at you, but at other Bears fans around here. I have a lot of respect for what Lovie Smith has done there. That defense is outstanding, as are the special teams. What's amazing to me is how a few select individuals keep coming into Bears threads to try and calm our enthusiasm and tell us how bad the Bears are. I agree that Grossman has made some bad decisions, but do you think that Griese will be that much better? For every bad throw that Grossman makes, you will say that Greise won't make that throw because he's a verteran (which may not be true), but what about all of the good throws he has made down the field??? Would Griese make those??I'm not saying Grossman is great and leave him in there, my point is that we really don't know that Griese can do any better. The Bears will have home field advantage in the playoffs. And in one of those games bad Rexy will show up and throw three interceptions to lose the game. The Bears are not alright. Griese lacks Grossman's play-making ability, but he avoids the Big Mistake far better than Grossman does. In the playoffs and/or in bad weather or in other critical games, especially when you have an elite defense and special teams, the latter is far more important than the former.I agree that Grossman has made some bad decisions, but do you think that Griese will be that much better? For every bad throw that Grossman makes, you will say that Greise won't make that throw because he's a verteran (which may not be true), but what about all of the good throws he has made down the field??? The Grossman issue is turning into a serious problem. And I know it's taken me and a lot of other Bears fans a while to get to that point. But remember last year how attached many Bears fans were to Kyle Orton? The city seems to be very forgiving as long as the wins keep coming. I was a Grossman loyalist. I was happy to see him replace Orton last year and I defended him a bit longer than I should have this year. That's what happens when a QB's problems stem from a lack of maturity and not a lack of ability. We've clearly seen that Rex is a quality quarterback; what we haven't seen is if he can be a mature quarterback. The bad decision making needs to stop. Every week since the Arizona game, I've surprised to see Lovie letting him get away with some of those deep balls. Maybe he thinks they need to let Rex be Rex. Maybe they think that's part of his charm and personality. I think it's a playoff death sentence. The good thing is that the Bears have an easy road to home-field advantage and another few weeks to address the Grossman problem. We're going to get a good read on what kind of coach Lovie is between now and playoff time.First of all, I'm not one of those few select individuals who "keeps coming into Bears threads . . ." I bet Griese doesn't fumble the snap on a crucial series in the red zone.I agree that Grossman has made some bad decisions, but do you think that Griese will be that much better? Exactly. And Grossman blew their shot to win it. And it's likely that he'll do something like this in the playoffs. It's too late in the season to switch QB's. Griese is a veteran and he was doing well in Tampa Bay but let's not pretend that switching to him should be a no-brainer. He isn't. But something must be done with Grossman, either change the playcalling etc. I don't know. Like I said, the Bears are in a tough spot. The Bears were missing two starting(three?) starting DB's , on the road, versus Brady, and still had a shot to win at the end. Tough loss, but they proved they can play with the big-boys. Of course, you can believe what you want...Dallas is the only team that will give them a game in the NFC, the SuperBowl is a crapshoot...
How about a consistent quarterback? The Grossman issue is turning into a serious problem. And I know it's taken me and a lot of other Bears fans a while to get to that point. My mistake. I tend to group together the people who post that type of stuff and probably shouldn't. The post just came across as another one of them. Honestly, I think the Bears fans around here are so happy that we're finally doing well that things can sometimes get misunderstood. From what I've seen, it's more enthusiasm than anything else. I haven't seen many Bears fans who think we're unbeatable but that's how we're portrayed on here sometimes. As far as flaws, you're damn right we have them. Our young qb is the obvious one. There's no doubt he's going to have to take better care of the ball if we want to go deep in the playoffs. That being said, I think the rest of our team is pretty solid. We've turned on our running game in the last few weeks and our defense speaks for itself. We created 5 turnovers against one of the best teams in the league at their house. Plus, this was the first game we've given up over 300 total yards for the entire season. I like where we're going but we're not there yet. However, we're closer than we've been in a long damn time.First of all, I'm not one of those few select individuals who "keeps coming into Bears threads . . ." Just wanted to bring this back up as the playoffs begin. I don't see the Giants beating Philly so it looks like the Dallas/Seattle winner will be administering the beatdown.Once again the Bears have been exposed. Just like in '01/'02 and '05/'06 a gaudy regular season record based on a weak schedule, weak division, and fluke victories will result in a swift dismissal from the playoffs.Bears.

Update: The game was meaningless with no playoff implications whatsoever, so the Bears allowed Brett Favre one final chance to win - but Rex Grossman still threw twice as many TD passes. He took a page from Favre's book and threw them to Packers. When do your parents let you start dating?Dude, your team got spanked on national televison. Man-up, admit they looked like ####, and pray that the new commissioner allows pre-playoff trades so that you can get a real QB on the roster before the playoffs start.GRIDIRON ASSASSIN said:Update: The game was meaningless with no playoff implications whatsoever, so the Bears allowed Brett Favre one final chance to win - but Rex Grossman still threw twice as many TD passes.
