TEs get 1.5 PPR and I thought they might help a few weeks in the flex....I had 4 of them but cut Boss out of there and then I went and juggled the defenses to get 3 of them.

Not doing it myself, but Kickers and defenses can have huge swings in scoring. By carrying a bunch you can pretty much gaurentee a big score at the position every week. With the structure of this contest and the normal cutoffs, it makes it easier to survive at least the first few cuts.I can see this being a very viable strategy at kicker especially, but it forces you to be a lttle safer elsewhere since injuries could kill a team using this strategy.

I went with the Marshall Smith combo too. Week 1 will weed out those who didn't finish their roster or have issues with it. Week 2 I should be covered.

Then one day I added BOTH of them to see what my projections looked like. It meant I had drop down a little at TE, but hopefully one or the other will have a big game each week.
My budget ended up being:
QB: $51 (with Warner of course)
RB $89 (usually spend more...went MJD, Thomas Jones, Selvin, Ricky W, Rice, Slaton)
WR $82 (S. Holmes, Cotchery, Steve Smith, Randle El, Walter, Devery H. - 3 dependable WR's and hopefully some big play guys)
TE $21 (Cooley and Keller)
PK $3 (3 Kickers)
Def $4 (2 Defenses - I think I had 4 last year and 1 usually came up big, but injuries depleted other positions so I scrapped that strategy...)
I'm guessing Warner, Thomas Jones, Ricky W, Rice, Slaton will be on lots of rosters! Steve Smith's suspension might scare many away from him, but I think I can make it by the first couple cutoffs without him.

That's why if you have Warner, you need a 3rd starter. Even in a position as non-consequential as QB.

I don't think you need a backup QB to win this. Personally, I bought Warner solely to cover my starter's bye. Anything he gives me in the second half of the season is gravy. I'd rather go that route than spend double digits for a better QB2.
So true, but it happens in almost every survivor and for sure in this contest. WRs are so up and down (even the good ones), you have to have a back-up plan.
Seemed like a wasted pick for me with Romo in tow. Warner will be hurt by the bye weeks.

Yep, and I wanted to have 8 but I didn't want to pay the price for a much better QB2 so I went with Warner and Ryan leaving me with only 7 WRs.

Also, as brittle as Warner is, the Cardinals have a legit chance to win the NFC West this year. There's a significant probability that Kurt will be their starter all season. You add up all the positives and he becomes an appealing option at $5. He was the closest thing in this year's field to last year's $3 David Garrard. Every dollar counts in this thing. The $5-10 you save by going with Warner as your QB2 could help put you over the top at TE or WR.

Romo's capable of sub-pedestrian weeks. Warner should be a guy that scores for you a few weeks (even with Romo), and given the fact that he only cost $5 he's a bargain. Still, it didn't make me feel any more confident with just Brees and Warner so I added Ryan. Still, you're only covering one position there. I think it's crazy to go into this with only 5 WRs when 3 have to count.

I'm quite surprised at the freely flowing rosters and strategy discussion at this point...the system is still taking entries. I know there is some degree of luck involved here (OK, a lot), but the luck can be managed through sound strategy. Lots of guys fill out some pretty stupid rosters, so why post a roster from a respected point of view (for some of you guys), where it can be easily copied or mildly tweaked by anyone looking for some help?

The homepage says it locks at 11:59 PM PST, but the time on my most recent entry form submission (12:21 AM PST) says 11:21 PM. I think it will lock at 12:59 AM PST.
I had the Romo/Warner/Ryan combo at one time. Seriously though, what good is Ryan when you have Romo. Seem like a better move to add another $7 and get mcnabb who can post number that would count while freeing up a roster position for another WR or K.
