2008 DTV Sunday ticket and superfan deals (2 Viewers)

Used the email/web link to get Sunday Ticket with Super fan for $269...saved myself $100.

I also received $10 off for 6 months, but I negotiated that first and then mentioned the email with teh early bird and Superfan included.

I've only been with Directv for 3 months and have 21 months left on my agreement, so it can be done.

Be NICE and respectful. By the way, thank you very much for the email/web ammo...saved me some coin.

This is how you save money. Get a group of buddy's like lets say three of them. One of you get a DTV account. The buddy with the account get the 4 room package and maybe add a couple of boxes to the 4 to make 6. And then you put 2 boxes in each of the three buddy's houses. Then you just split the bill. The only thing your out is you will have to purchase a couple of dish's off of ebay to start. Then your set just split the bill three ways for the year. I know someone who has been doing this for about 6 or 7 years. ME It's cuts your monthly bill down a lot ST and SF cost you a third. Now that is some good savings and you don't have to call year after year to save 50 bucks your saving a whole lot more.
Exactly, and the crazy thing is DTV leaves all those dishes lying around, the only thing they seem to safeguard are the receivers. When I moved out of my last rented house the landlord wanted the HD dish removed. DTV had zero interest, but, the neighbors across the street were standing there ready to grab it. Know I know why.
Make sure you get the L&B with the dish otherwise its useless..

How many more years does DTV have sole access to NFL games? Man i hope cable/dish can find away to get in on this next time around. $280 is unreal.

I think he means LNB, the plastic piece on the end of the arm.

Does the NFL Sunday Ticket include preseason games as well?
negative
Check out NFL network for more preseason games plus their round robin show..
NFL Network shows replays of every preseason game not nationally televised...usually the day after the game you can see the replay on NFL Network...
13 nationally televised games during the preseason plus 2 games only on nfl network:Week 2 - Pats vs BucsWeek 3 - Buff vs Indy

Well, I just got off the phone, and all I could get is $10 off for 12 months. They wouldn't give me Superfan for free. Not yet anyway. I've gotten it for free for each of the past five to seven years. So I'm not sure why this year is different, but she kept referencing the fact that they're not giving any NFL deals since the season hasn't started yet. And this was the customer retention department. She said that link offering free Superfan is only giving the free HD programming part of Superfan. She said it's not giving the Red Zone and Shortcuts and other options that I want. She wouldn't budge.I took the $120 for now and I guess will call back in September to see if I can get Superfan for free.
You will have already made 1/2 of your payments. What makes you think they'll gift you Superfan?I'd recommend holding off on committing until you get what you want. Have them take the charge of your bill (you should see it in your statement this month). Once they don't get payments the next few months, then call.

I'm going to see if my buddies want to pitch in for sunday ticket / superfan since they'll all be over here every sunday watching the games...

if not I was helping my girlfriend look for a job the other day and saw a ad for a installer...in the ad it said you get free direct tv service plus sunday ticket...maybe they need part timers...lol

That's what I was worried about, too. I think they just have a cap on how many credits they'll give customers. I've had quite a bit over the years, including a settlement last year in which they had to pay me almost three grand for an install at my new house that did a little damage. I got some other programming credits for the inconvenience of it, and I think maybe I've been red-flagged.

Superfan isn't being charged yet. So that $0 that's showing up on your bill this month is just the reminder that they will be charging you for Superfan on an upcoming bill.

Just hung up with DTV and here's what i got:

ST for $249
Free SF
Free HD DVR
Free HD receiver (for our 2nd room)
$10 off for 12 monthsThat was incredibly easy. i used the "my wife wants to switch to comcast triple play" convo and the Cust Serv rep transferred me within the first minute of talking to him. I assume i went to CR, where i got a female rep, who sounded relatively young. Just flashed back to my single days and cracked some jokes (probably not necessary), explained the situation, and asked what she could do for me. She rattled off the deals and discounts and we set up an appt for this Thurs to have the HD dish installed.

what a relief. i hate haggling and that went as smoothly as i could've hoped for. best part is i'll have HD by this weekend :pickle: :pickle:

Ahhh, ok. Thanks for the clarification.
Ok, so I just got my 2008 letter in the mail and it said that SF would also be charged in 6 installments. So you're saying those 6 installments don't start until the season starts? Seems like they would start along with the ST installments (i.e. on this month's bill).

My July Bill was exactly the same.I called and went to CR then went to another department where they have offers for existing customers. They told me because I got SF free last year that I would not be able to be comped in 2008.In the end i got $10.00 off for 6 months and free HD package for 6 months...............Better than nothing I guess.........

Why would you settle for nothing?I've only been with DTV for about 4 years and I don't do much more than get ST and HD. I was directed to customer retention almost immediately. If all they're going to give you is $60 say you'll think about it and call back. I'm paying $40 less than last year (and $160 less than what they comically proposed in the renewal letter). Throw 'em on speaker while you're surfing the web. They seem to be lowering the price this year. Take advantage of it.edited to add: I've had "Superfan" since before it was called Superfan and have never paid for it. The fact I didn't pay for it didn't keep them from wiping the charge this year. If anything, it supported the contention that I shouldn't have to pay for it now.

Im just paying 249 with SF comped. i didnt push for anything else, as i have a number of DTV deals going right now

Just called and said "cancel service" at the electronic prompts, and when I got the CS Rep, I said that the Mrs. was on my case to switch to Comcast, but I wanted to call and see if there was anything we could do to prevent that from happening.

He said "OK, let me see what I can do", and then we had some silence.

After awhile he comes back and offers

*$10/mo off for 12 mos

* all of their movie channels free for 6 mos

I took the offer, and when he finished processing it, I asked about ST and SFan. I had a letter with the offer of 6 payments of 41.50 ($249), so I asked if I could get that and the free SFan. I mentioned that I had seen a promo for free SFan and he said that if I had received that promo, then I would automatically get the SF for free (It would show up as $0), but that he could not process it for free, since the free SFan was computer generated. I then said that I hadn't received the promo, but had seen it online, and he said that there wasn't anything he could do for free SFan, and that I should wait and see if it shows up as a $0, and if not, I could call back in August.

So, as it is right now,

$249 for STicket

$120 off over 1 year

Free movie channels for 6 mos

No superfan

Looks like I'll have to call back in August to see what I can do for Superfan.

Gettin' ready for football!

My bill this month was $165, including ST and SF (linked to my Visa so I'm a good customer). I've been a happy customer for a year or so but needed to get the bill down. I called and said exactly that. "My bill is too much." She said she would give me SF for free. That took about 45 seconds. Saved a hundred. Then I removed Setanta Sports and the Sports Package, saving about $30, and added HBO for $14/month with 3 free months Cinemax.

Probably could have pushed for more but I'd rather that the customer service rep not note that I'm a pain in the #### in the "notes" section (not sure if they do that but I suspect so).

One note: I chatted the rep up a bit about sports and she instantly was helpful in other areas (got a discount on an HD receiver, should I choose to add it). She also mentioned that DTV has call centers all around the world. So I'm betting that what you get in incentives to stay depends on where you're connected to. I may even guess that high paying customers in good standing are directed to certain centers while minimum package folks are sent elsewhere. But that's only speculation on my part.

Has anyone gotten a deal who DOES NOT have a base package? All I've had on my account the last 4 plus years is ST each year, and the HD package that is like $10 a month. I was told my ST would auto renew for $249, but that Super Fan wasn't included....

I have the base package with locals and HD channel package (HDNet, HD Movies, UHD, MGMHD, etc...about 4/month) with 2 Standard receivers/1 HD Receivers/1 HD/DVR. So pretty close to the base package as you can get. I also just signed up with Directv in March, and am in the beginning of a 2 year contract.I posted on the front of Page 5 of this thread, and I believe I got a nice deal considering my circumstances.

I just called them. At the automated prompt, I said "Cancel Servie". It transfered me to a CR that asked how she could help me.

"We just got our bill with the first payment of Sunday Ticket on it. The wife isn't happy about how much it is, and Superfan isn't even on it yet. She wants to switch to cable because of some of the deals they're offering. But I told her to wait and I'd call and see what you guys could do, because I really want to keep my football."

She says, 'we can certainly help you with that" Started off saying she'd give me the $10 off my bill for the next 6 months and then she said she'd also be able to give me Superfan for free. She says, "how does that sound?" I said, "that's a start, but could you do anything with throwing in an HD receiver, because one of the perks of signing up with a new company is all the free HD stuff they're giving out."

She said I could have a free HD receiver or $100 off of an HD DVR. I took the free receiver.

Summing it up:

- $10 off for 6 months

- free Superfan

- free HD receiver.

I'm happy again.

Called about a week ago to add ST using the link provided in this thread for free SF - so I received the free SF no questions asked. Called yesterday and at the prompt asked to cancel. When the CR dept lady picked up I said wife wants me to switch to cable what can you do to help my bill? Well she gave me $10 off for a year, free starz for 6 months (which I have been paying $12/month for the past year), and free showtime for six months. Not a bad deal for 10 minutes on the phone - very painless.

Summary:

Free Superfan

$22 off per month for first 6 months, and then $10 off the 6 months after that (for a total of $192 off the bill for the next year)

Free showtime for 6 months

called DTV to ask if there was anything they could do about my monthly bill, did not say anything about ST or SF. I got $10 off a month for 12 months and an instant $200 credit to my account. just thought I would pass along. Since they did this for me I will get the SF and pay for it. I have been with DTV since '95 and they are always willing to work to keep a customer happy.
I just tried this with NO LUCK. I talked to "Chris" in customer retention. I told him in my sweetest voice that I just lost my second job and that I needed to lower my monthly bill or I would be forced to switch to cable these were the suggestions he gave me:Cancel my HBO and Showtime subscriptions to save $25/monthLower from my package to Family package for $29.99/monthHe offered a $5 discount for 12 monthsHe said basically if I do all this I can save about $30/month.WTF, thanks but no thanks. Told him I will call back. Hopefully I will get someone more helpful!! (Last year they gave me HBO/Showtime free for 3 months and $10 credit per month for a year with little or no effort. There might have even been something else thrown in I don't remember)I will probably just wait until the Sunday Ticket charge shows up on my bill and try again. It all depends on who answers that phone! I could tell right away I wasn't getting ANYWHERE with that guy!!!

Just got my bill and it was for 192.00 so I decided to make the call.

I have pretty much the Caddilac directv HD, DVR, premier package.

I told them I was paying 130.00 per month and now with the Sunday ticket and SF on there it was approaching 200.00/month. I said my bill was getting a little over the top and I needed to cancel a few things, or since they were giving deals to new customers I had called to see what they would do for a good paying customer.

She said she would look to see what she could do.....

$40 off per month on the premier package (6 months)

$99 one time credit off of the bill

So, Sunday ticket and SF cost $348.00 and I got $339.00 out of them. Sunday ticket and SF for $9.00.....not bad.

As soon as I got into the automated system and entered my phone number, it asked what I was calling about. I said CANCEL. It asked me whether I wanted to cancel or change service. I said CANCEL. I asked the employee after the deal was done if she worked in Customer Service or Retention. She told me she kind of handles everything.

"Chris" was a little light in his loafers huh? NTTAWWT

Have been getting Sunday Ticket since the beginning. About 2 years into it I went to cable service but kept the Ticket as the only thing on my Direct TV plan (not something you can do anymore). I only got the ticket last season because I had this unique setup and if I canceled the ticket I would lose that status.

Well I got sick of the rising cost of the Sunday ticket and called yesterday to cancel my service. The lady at the retention line offered to waive one of the 5 payments. I said it wouldn't change my mind and canceled anyway. She credited my account $41.50 to cover the first payment that had been charged, verified my shipping address so I could return their equipment. I thought that was the end of it.

Later in the day I got a call from a rep saying because of my long time status she could credit my account an additional $200 if I don't cancel. Making it a total of $241.50 credited. That was more than enough to keep me as a member. :bag:

Although I feel I could have gotten more, but am very happy with it.

I just called and cancelled Direct TV. I told them that the cost of Sunday Ticket and Superfan were just too high and the only reason I had the service was because of the Ticket. They offered me $10 off per month for 12 months. I laughed and told him that wasn't even close to what it would take to keep me. I'm wondering if I'm going to get one of those callbacks to offer more. Has anyone else recieved one?

I called a couple of weeks ago and made no ground with them. They wouldn't even transfer me to Customer Retention. I had my wife call back and play the 'bad wife' role and try to threaten to cancel Directv, it didn't help.

I called back and still no help. Get to talking to the lady and I guess since we were late on payment a few times, that they didn't want to work with me even though I have been customer for over 4 years. I was annoyed and asked about cancelling and they told me I was in contract until February from the 4 LNB upgrade I got last year.

I may call back and try again now that they are offering Superfan deals. As of now, Sunday Ticket is cancelled. If you are having problems getting deal, it may be an issue if you are slow with payment. I don't blame them from a business point of view. Sucks, not sure I can get the Ticket this year, wife really wants to cut back luxury items. Have to work on her.

Just called to cancel ST, SF, and HBO, without any problem the lady gave me the following;

$10 credit next 12 months to offset the price of my superfan

free DVR, upgraded to HD DVR for $99

$10 credit next 6 months

free for 6 months; showtime, starz, and sportspack.

also received the renewal rate on SF and ST

I'm happy!

Got my first paperless bill email and sure enough - superfan was being billed. Called and at the proper time in the recording said cancel. Talked to a nice lady who told me how I was a good customer and that is why they comped my SF last year and 1/2 price the year before but now with all that has been added to SF I could no longer receive it for free. I told them my husband wanted me to cut it as we needed to cut back on our TV bill and I am the football lover in the household. Told the truth that he is looking at early retirement and we have to cut back and the first place was going to be our direct-tv bill. She said oh and then said well let me see what I can do. She offered me 10 dollar credit on my bill for 6 months cutting the cost of the SF by 2/3rds.- I said that wasn't enough and I would have to cancel it (I was ready to cancel the SF) We have premium package and HD and already have the HD DVR and our normal bill is 130+ per month. (she also I think believed I was going to cancel Sunday Ticket - I let her continue to believe it) Never lost my cool - even apologized for calling. Well it was silent for awhile - the ball was in her court and I left it silent - she then said how about if I give you 10 off a month for 12 months - which would give you more credit than SF for free which she couldn't do. I said thank you very much and that I would agree to that. She then said, this way next year you will be able to take advantage of the early bird lower price renewal of ST and SF. I said thank you I appreciated that she was able to help.

It wasn't much but $120 credit vs paying the $99 - priceless :own3d:

Of course I will call again next year and will again nicely complain about the cost. :football:

Another nice service they have is when you go on vacation they will shut it off for you and turn it back on any dates you tell them too as long as your paid in good standing

and credit you the full amount of time it's shut off.

As for me I assume I am on auto renewal. I havn't been charged yet since my service was set off while on vacation. Thanks to these 5 pages of tips I will call and complain and get superfan free I bet at worst. Just waiting to be billed.

Nope. 5 Year customer that has never missed a payment or paid late. My wife called and said cancel at the prompt, they switched us to a live rep, she said the cost was too much for the ticket and we wanted to cancel, and they said "sorry to hear that, we have cancelled your ST order, thank you and have a nice day". We have not received any call back either. I was pretty surprised that we did not even get switched to retention. Oh well, the cost was getting too high anyway.........

Just called, told them prices were too high. Offered $10 off for 12 months and free superfan. End up costing me $129 for the ticket. I can live with that.

And he also mentioned the price of the ticket is going up on August 1st...

Just called. Almost instantly was offered free Superfan.

Here's my problem. LAST year when I made my annual call to complain they gave me $10 off for 12 months AND free HD access ($9.99) for 12 months.

So he wouldn't/couldn't give me any additional programming discounts. And he couldn't extend them automatically.

He told me to call back on August 21st when the discounts roll off my account and they should be able to add them back on for another year. So that's exactly what I'm going to do.

Just called the retention number and told the rep that I wanted to decrease my bill. She immediately offered free SF which is what I have gotten the last 2 years. I was pleased with that and didn't haggle for anything more.

Oh well, the cost was getting too high anyway.........
if she would have said I want to cancel my whole service you would have gotten a better reaction I bet. They don't really care if you cancel just the ticket itself.

can anyone give me the number for customer retention? they're trying to hose me
There is no direct number - when you are calling and they are asking you in the recording what you are calling about say CANCEL - that gets me to customer retention I believe.

I just signed up as a new subscriber. Here is what I got:1 HD-DVR (Free)1 HD ($99)1 Standard Receiver (Free)4 Months of the Premier Package (Free)4 Months DVR Service (Free)Sunday Ticket ($300)Super Fan ($100)Sirrius Radio (Free)$75 in Visa Gift Cards (Free)$104 Upfront costs$120 month for 4 monthsI #####ed about the price of Superfan and that's when they gave me the $75 Visa cards.
Here is what else you can get: subscribe for paperless bills, save a one time fee of $20.Be refered by a friend (just use someone here if you dont know anyone) and get another $50 off for both people.
I rec'd a promo letter from DTV and had been thinking about switching from DN to get ST. This thread helped the cause, so I thought I'd post this info for new subs. Here's what I got yesterday. "free" ST and SF promotionpremier package (all channels and all movies) for $69 (+tax) for the first 4 mos. (CR agent dropped it $10/mo from $79/mo for the 4 mos.)free install and DVRs (2 rooms) - don't have HD yet (still like my 61" Hitachi projection TV) - $0 up front charges$49 first month - paperless billing credit of $20bill goes to $109 / mo. after the first 4 mos, but can be downgraded from the premier packageKeep in mind you need to have already met your term conditions on DN, etc. to avoid cancellation penalties. And DN was decent enough w/ the cancellation news. Crediting 1/2 mo. of my balance (pre paid) and sending a box for their gear to be returned. I'm sure they get a lot of this around NFL pre-season time. Thanks for the info here! I had ST a few years ago, and HATE being stuck watching the local game broadcasts. Free ST/SF is too good to pass up. I'm sure I'll be looking here next year when I don't get the new subscriber deal... Looking forward to checking out the SuperFan!
