2008 DTV Sunday ticket and superfan deals (1 Viewer)

Directv are nothing but douchebags. I called on July 9th on that email offer noted in this thread. The guy told me i received the offer and needed to cancel before the 1st game of the season.

I check my account and nothing about NFL ticket so I call today. The moron on the 9th gave me a superfan credit but didnt sign me up for the ticket and after speaking to some moron in CS as well as a "Supervisor", neither of them would honor the 20 dollar difference/ mistake that their employee made and the reason, because their system doesnt track who makes entries/ notes/ comments - how 1990 is that?

Basically anytime I call and ask for something to get done, it may not get done and there are no breadcrumbs to support the customer - Excellent Customer Service. Im counting the days until my contract expires...

Just signed up for this this past week. Absolutlely pissed at Comcast. They took away my NFL network last yr the day training camp started. When I called, they stated it was part of their new sports package. NFL network + 13 different soccer channels! WHOOOO HOOOO. I already pay 190.00 a month for the high speed internet, phone, and digital cable................WITH NO NFL GAMES OR NFL NETWORK!!! Screw you Comcast.

Anyways, I didn't waste any time this yr. The install is next week. 265 Channel deal with all of the extra movie channel crap, HD DVR...Sunday Ticket....94.94 a month.

Just got off the phone with them and here is what I said and got:

Told them I was recently married which is true and the new wife thought I was spending too much on my DTV bill. She really didn't understand how much I was spending on football. I then told them it was my understanding that I was supposed to get SF for free when I auto-renewed.

After checking he said that no he couldn't give me SF for free. I am now starting to think this is going no where when he tells me but I might be able to do something else for you. Before I know it this is he did the following:

15.00 off for 12 months

Free for 6 months all HBO, Starz, Showtime, Cinemax

Free Hot Pass (I don't even like Nascar)

The way he was going I was starting to think I might be one of the lucky ones to get some type of instant credit but he stopped short of that. I am pretty happy and now if I can just get them to give me a HD DVR I'll be happy with them again for a little while.

How much is it after the first year though? When I called it was a decent deal for the first year but went up considerably the second year.Anyway around that? Sorry, I don't have DTV and am a noob.

first salvo fired: 5-10 minute conversation with the lady who answered the phone. $10 off for 6 months, free showtime for 3 months. pulled the wife card, too expensive & she likes that show 'dexter'. instant offers, no fight on my end at all.

up next, very late night call, 1am pst or later. with a few cocktails down. the 'hook me up bro' call.

call to the supervisor telling them about this thread.

& the final step, free hd dvr upgrade to the bedroom & running a line to the garage...

so far: $249-$60=$189 for the ticket + $99 for the super fan. bonus-free showtime for 3 months

You do need a phone line for the Tivo updates. But not with the new DTV DVR, I think it is the HR 20. besides the new DTV DVR is 100 time better than the tivo
Yeah, the HR20 is better if you like not being able to swap tuners and watch two games at once.. It's also better if you like to have 3-4 blank recordings a week. It's great not being able to rely on your DVR. Man, I wish Tivo had a MPEG4 DVR. The HR20 has a LONG way to go before it can be seen as a viable replacement for a Tivo. If not for the mpeg4 HD content, I'd throw the HR20 in the trash where it belongs.
never had a probplem with the HR20.

2nd year DTV customer.

Got ST for free, $20 off Superfan, and bill reduced from $115 to $75 for the next 4 month.

My brother is the worlds best negotiator.

Just called DTV. Said i have already declined the Ticket this year. I told the dude that a buddy of mine got the superfan for free and HBO free for 6 months. He said, he could do the same for me AND include showtime and Stars free for 6 months. Told him to sign me back up for the Ticket. Gotta love Direct TV.

Finally had better luck with them, told them (like last year) that my husband said it was too expensive and wanted to switch to comcast. I was paying about $110/month before:

$54.99 total choice plus package

$25.00 HBO and Showtime

Plus assorted charges for 1 DVR box and 3 regular receivers.

Got:

New customer offer of ST for $74 instead of $249

Will pay $74.99/month for 4 months for premier package including ST

$10 credit per month for year

Also got 2 new DVR boxes for free with free install. The 2nd box was going to be $99, but they are on backorder until Sept. 13 so he credited me the $99 for my inconvenience.

Just got off the phone with them. I cancelled 3 months ago, but started to freak about not having the NFL ticket. I got the NFL ticket for $289 (ouch), but Superfan free, 4 months of free premiere package, $20 credit per month for the next 6 months, 3 months free hbo/showtime and starz. Had to go to two different people, but got this from Sales department. Super nice lady. Was very professional and I was very nice while I was begging. Actually just told them was trying to justify the cost and let the dead air speak.

Good Luck and happy drafting.

Decided to make my annual call to good ol customer retention.

Actually used a flyer I got in the mail from Charter to aid my battle.

Just decided to go with "save me money on my monthly bill" and I'll be happy.

I have 3 receivers at my house, 1 SD Tivo, 1HDDVR and 1 HD receiver. So the they uograded the other HD rec to an HD DVR for free, plus gave me a years worth of HDDVR service on that receiver for free. I dropped my premium package to the HD service, and kept HBO and Showtime for no charge. She then gave me $20 a month credit for a year. Couldn't get any discount on the Sunday Ticket, but since I was a long term customer, I got the Superfan credited back to me.

Helps to make calls, most definitley.

I've had Direct TV for 4 years or so, and this is my second year with Sunday Ticket. Last year had no Superfan (but also no HD so it didn't matter). This year I have HD, and I just called and said "I've been a good customer for a few years, and I didn't realize you needed Superfan for the HD games...is there anything you can do for me? I've heard of other people getting a deal from you guys.."

The woman was friendly and said, hold on let me see what we can do for you (said that about 3 times), and then gave me super fan for free!!

This is my second year with them. I didn't have any luck calling. They sound like they are fed up or maybe she was just on wrong time of month. She just told me I had no reason to call as I get auto renewed and I told her well I was hopeing I would get a discount on SF and she said sorry. I didn;t have the guts to threaten to cancel. No way I can live without my ticket or super fan. Maybe it's because I got all the deals last year they won;t give me any this year?

keep calling, you will get someone that will give you SF for free.

make sure you say "cancel" with the automated system.Customer retention is very nice, at least they are every time I speak with them.Seeing that it is your second year, try working around the Ticket/Superfan, you may be eligable for discounts or other upgrades that are well worth the time you put in on the phone with them. Worst case scenario is a free upgrade or a monthly discount

A little off topic but, a continuation of this thread:I am moving so I did the move for free thing they offer. The lady who was very nice and friendly (I think she wanted me  ) told me that since I just got all these rebates and stuff that I didn't qualify for any of their programming deals for when someone moves. Asks me to hold for a minute and offers me a free HD DVR and a DVR for my only room left that didn't have it. AMazing what they will do for you if you just ask and be nice (and get the right person).

Called tonight and told them the wife wanted me to cancel as the Ticket was too expensive. Was immediately offered $20 off for 12 months and free SF. I started talking about how much we enjoyed Entourage on HBO and like Weeds, Dexter and Californication but always had to wait and watch them on DVD. She offered 6 months of Showtime.

Painless.

New subscriber-got all the good stuff for free. SF and Sunday Ticket, HD free receiver, 4 movie channels-$64.99 per month (not $74.99).

Now-how do I get the SuperFan channel and what is it? What good is it? Sorry. a newbie and would appreciate some advice on how to use what I just bought.

Thanks everyone.

how many year contract do you have to sign to get these deals? 2 yrs?
New customers have to sign for 2 years. I've been with DTV for 11 years and have one year left on the contract for my HD-DVR. They didn't ask to extend me, they just don't want to lose the $100+ I pay every month as a regular customer.

I'm a little disappointed so far. I've been a long-time Sunday Ticket & Directv subscriber. I finally have an HD set on order. Their offer to me was the HD DVR for 99 dollars and Superfan for free.

I told them that it seemed like new customers were getting better offers like free Sunday Ticket and a free HD DVR. He told me that the new cusotmer offer was only for regular DVr and the HD DVR was cosidered a double upgrade. I told him that I was going to check around and I would call back. I guess I'll have to play the customer retention card.

DirecTV came out, but I couldn't get a signal. Too many trees!

But, i did convince a buddy of mine to let me use his SuperCast login!

Any time you upgrade your equipment, you are signing up for a new 2 year contract. Programming changes have no effect on your contract length.

I'm about ready to scream.Call #2: I called in and they basically verified that there were deals that I wasn't eligible for, i.e. new cusomters at Best Buy.Call #3: Finally switched to cutermoer retention and it seemed so promising. The guy said that the previous person didn't know what they were talking about and his department could cut deals, etc. Before i could get his offer...click.... line went down.Call #4: Called back to customer retention. Back to $99 for the dvr, no mention of superfan for free. This time I said no thanks. I'll call back tonight.

Yeah I've seen this deal everywhere....once your 4 months is up though, you're packaging price will be over $100 per month. Unless of course you cancel and switch to a different plan. Current subscribers are eligible for this too they said. But you have to remember to change your package plan after the 4 months, and even then you'll still be charged that current month probably.Best offer I've had is ST for $229, and SP for FREE as a current subcriber. I've called 3 times and can't get a HD DVR upgrade for free.

I just got this upgrade for free - just $19.99 for shipping & handlingI used Verizon FIOS against them. With FIOS if you record on one TV you can watch the recording on another TV in another room - you can't do this with DTV.

Also got free SuperFan

Just made my annual call. Initially talked to a CSR who I thought was customer retention and all she would give me was $5 off for 3 months. :pics: Asked to be transferred to retention and she actually said that retention would give me the same credit and I couldn't receive anything more than that. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: OK, sweetheart, just transfer me. Anyway, the CR rep felt like giving out candy today. Told him the "wife is pissed" story and he gave me free SF and $10 off for 12 months.  Didn't have to complain or raise a stink. Luckily it was on the first call. Last year it took 6 calls to get a discount.

I'm done with DTV. Going to use P2P for NFL this year. Switching to FIOS so the bandwidth won't be an issue. I'm going to call DTV Monday and tell them if they want to keep me they put me on an only Direct Ticket plan or else just shut me down.

I'll let you guys know if that works to get me direct ticket alone. Watched the game last night on Dutch TV over P2P and had a great time. Their studio show was a little wheels off, but the picture was fine and no lag or anything. Will wait to see what 4 at once does to the bandwidth, but I could get 2 at once with DSL no issue.

Might want to do it before Monday. Even though first week is free for everyone, I called the Monday after the season started last year, and had absolutely zero luck as they say that the season has already begun, and can't cancel either Sunday Ticket or Superfan than.

Is P2P the name of an actual software you're using or are you using the generic "Person to Person" terminology. Do you use TVU?

Called a couple of days ago. I explained to the lady that I was a repeat ST subscriber and asked what kind of deal could she give me as a loyal customer.

I got:

$20 credit for 6 months (Basically SuperFan for free + 20 bucks).

HD service free for 6 months.

I was more than happy with that.

I started last year's Sunday Ticket thread and thought it was finally time to make the call this year myself. The first guy offered me $5 off my bill for 6 months. I said "no thanks", hung up, and called again. The next lady offered me $10 off the Ticket for 6 months. I asked her if she could give me the HD service free for a year and she said she could do one or the other, but not both. So I went with the free HD service ($9.99 for 12 months).I got SF free last year and could not talk her into giving it to me free again this year. Couldn't even get a discount. Has anyone been able to do that? I'm going to wait a week and try again on the SF, but if I don't get some kind of deal I'm going to cancel it. It's ok, but it's sure not worth $99.
Called back and got another $10 off for 12 months. So right now I've got that plus free HD for 12 months... a grand total of $239.88. I'm pretty happy about that, but they STILL keep telling me they can't comp me the SF.
Called one more time at 6:42pm last night before the Giants-Redskins game after realizing that time was running out on my leverage. Gave the lady the mad wife story coupled with a bundle offer I got in the mail from Charter. She said let me see what I can do and then came back and offered me free SF. Finally!!So in total I ended up with free HD for 12 months, $10 extra off the bill for 12 months, and free SF. I think I'm satisfied for this year. I love DirecTV!

Called today, said I was thinking of cancelling, as local cable co. was offering a free DVR and was cheaper. Was offered a Free HD DVR (I don't have a DVR currently at all) and 9.99 off my bill each month for a year. I asked if I could also get free superfan, and was told absolutely.

A friend of mine's wife actually was pissed. He called and was given a $100 credit to his account and $20 off per month for 6 months. Essentially, he's getting Sunday Ticket for $20.

DirecTV came out, but I couldn't get a signal. Too many trees!

Same situation here. DTV came out years ago and had the tree problem, too many. I told my brother I needed his account number so I could take his online account and watch. I went to download the application to set it up for Sunday, but it reads, "Download Available Soon". Did you come across this? Is this where I go? And is this download all I need?

No P2P in this case = peer to peer. i.e. I steal something that should be free.

Wow, am I glad I checked this thread out and just had major SUCCESS with DirecTV

Basically, I got more than ST for free just by getting ST :lmao: :lmao:

As soon as this lady picked up the call, I knew she sounded cool. Ive only been a DTV customer for 5 months, so I told her I saw the 74.99 deal where new customers are basically getting ST for free, said how I never had ST before and was consdering it but couldnt believe it was 290$$

First I got my 5 payments lowered from 74.99 to 57.99 for ST (85$ saved)

Then she gave me free DVR for a year (72$ saved)

Then she gave me 18$ off my monthly bill for a year (216$ saved) - and I was already getting 18$ off per month in the first place!

So.......

ST normal cost = 290$

Money I just saved = 373$

So basically Im getting the ST for free AND saving 83$ on my bills over the next year :tinfoilhat: :lmao: :lmao:

I have the auto renew setup for both ST and Superfan. I noticed the monthly payments kick in and decided to call to cancel since I'll be traveling for 3 Sundays this football season. When I called to cancel the retention rep immediately offered up 4 months of their Premier package (all movie channels). I told him if he threw in the Superfan along with the Premier package I'd keep the ticket. He was relunctant at first, saying he couldn't offer anything on the Superfan package, but then stated that there is a deal out there for free Superfan for returning customers and said he'd credit my account. The funny thing is that I was planning on adding HBO for the start of Entourage. With getting it for free the ST is a no brainer.

I called in earlier today and was told that the SuperFan is only available in HiDef,is that right??

I'm thinking it was b.s,so all I got was a free DVR and installation :goodposting:

I dont have a HDTV yet, but Im pretty sure superfan is to get the games in HD. When you get the ticket, youre paying for the games. When you add superfan, youre getting the games in HDJust another way for them to shank another 100$ from you, and add to the already ridiculous cost of ST

It does work.

Cancelled my Direct TV been a customer since 2001. Told them way too expensive and will be getting Dish next week.

Direct Customer Service called the next day and offered me:

$25 a month for the next 12 months. ($300)

HBO and Showtime and sports channels free for 12 months. Fox channels, ESPNU andother sports channels (around $300+ value)

Free DVR service and extra receiver cost for 12 months ($120)

SuperFan free. Told them I didn't want it and they still gave it too me. (Dont know how much it costs)

Didn't have to sign a new contract since I don't have HD yet. Told me to call back when I am ready to upgrade. They said I am listed as a A+ customer whatever that means. Never missed a payment or been late since getting it might be why.

I was on the phone with them over 45 minutes. Well worth spending the time.

 Just called up for the 3rd time after I read this post. Had to ask for customer retention. Said I was disappointed that new customers were getting this deal because when I signed up in January the deal was not nearly as good. He immediately said he could give me the new customer deal (no HD DVR though). I then said everyone I know is getting the Superfan for free and he said that he could do that as well. Very painless.Had Total Choice for $60 per month, soon to be $80 per month when discounts run out.Now have Premier Package, NFL Ticket, and Superfan for $74.99 per month.I just need to remember to call January 4 to downgrade package back to total choice.Thank you Yinzer

Niiiice! No problem, man. I thought I might have goldmined the best deal of anyone here, but you could have me beat seeing as how I still havent upgraded to get an HDTV yet. I didnt even have to go to retention though, this girl sounded cool from the get-go and figured I hit the jackpot!I think my refer a friend 10$ off for 5 months is just quitting, but I should be getting 42$ off my bill each month for the next 7 months, and 24$ off for the next year, so ill take itAs far as the downgrading thing goes, dont worry too much because they charge by the day basically. Meaning, if you cancel 3 days late, youre paying 10% of the cost for HBO, etc. of the monthly fee, not the whole thing. In the little time Ive had DTV, Ive found it useful to drop most of the movie channels and then pick them up. Im big on boxing so its hard for me to drop SHO and HBO for long hauls, but it works out still. Right now, I have Cinemax for free for 3 months because I dropped HBO and then took this deal. Theoretically, you could probably do this all the time because you could cancel a channel and then take the deal 2 days later.Im really not sure about the few people who have posted being disappointed. I think if you play it right, you can save a lot from DTV.Benchwarmers post shows just that if youre a longtime customer

I called a week ago and the lady was only offering $10 off my bill for 6 months OR free Superfan. Called yesterday and said "cancel" when it asked what I was calling about. This time I got:

$10 off my bill for 12 months

Free DVR service for 12 months ($6/month)

Free Showtime and Starz for 6 months (Not bad b/c I am a fan of "Dexter")

Free HBO for 6 months (I get it anyway, so this is another $12 or so off my bill for 6 months)

Free Superfan

Sunday ticket at the same rate I paid last year ($240)

and...I mentioned I was moving and he offered a free HD DVR for when I move.

Not bad, definately glad I didn't take the first deal. If I didn't read this thread, I think I probably would have. Thanks guys!

It works!

I'll tell the truth, I was a bit skeptical of some of the stories that I heard on here, but I figured i would give it a try. My current package is $54.99/mnth, with no premium channels. I called them this morning and told them I received an e-mail with an offer for everything for $74.99. Pretty much, the guy states that package is for newbies and he will see what he can get done.

He comes back on the phone and says b/c I have been with DTV for a while (4 1/2 years) and have a great payment history, he can do it. I thank him for the deal and am about to hang up, when he says, "Hey, do you want to watch the games in HD?" I accept, and he throws SF in, without me even asking for it. My total bill will go up $20/mnth, & I will have all the premium channels, the Ticket, & SF.

I think it has a lot to do with your payment history with them. If you have been consistenly up to date, i think they will offer a little more. I can say that DTV has kept a customer for another year, due to them being willing to work with me.

I think you can also do this upgrade online as well if you actually did receive the email (which I did). I don't think you have to be a new customer either (though you will read in a few spots -- 'new customer offer'. The email I receive has 2 options: "New Customer: Order Now", "Existing Customer: Activate Now"
