Guys ,

How do you thinking the Passing offence will fair under the McDaniels/Orton, do you guys see top 10 after 2009 season or will it be a run first team with the huge stable of RBs they have. What will be the Pass/run ratio i m thinking more 50/50 this year?

Wanna get your guys thoughts....

thank you,

I really like reading you guys postings , very high Football IQ forum.

I doubt that there are few circumstances this year that will have Denver as a top ten passing team. I believe that the Denver offense will suffer across the board with out Cutler chucking the ball. I have moved all of Denver's skill position players including Marshall a significant number of spots down my own rankings. Now if we were to give points for pass attempts then maybe a top ten.

I think it will be a easier transtition than many think, especially with Orton's strengths matching the strengths of the NE offense (short accurate passing, high IQ needed)...this said however I do not see them being top ten passing...I see the following teams beating them in no particular order...

New England

Indianapolis

Philadelphia

New Orleans

Green Bay

San Diego

Arizona

Dallas

Houston

Cincinnatti

Chicago

New York (Giants)...maybe

I have Denver ranked 16th right now, and that's as much a byproduct of having to throw the ball a ton of times b/c of what I expect will be a horrid defense, than it is any indication I think the Broncos will be particularly successful offensively.

Of the 4 staffers with posted projections, you have Denver's fantasy QB scoring falling off the most (by 104.4 points). The average drop off was 75.7 points (21.7%).On the flip side, with Cutler going to Chicago, the same projections give the Bears an average increase of 19.9 points (7.4%). So it looks like the experts are predicting a more profound effect of Cutler leaving Denver than playing in Chicago.A lot of the projected Denver drop off, however, is likely due to the immense number of passing attempts the team had in 2008. While that 75 point drop off looks high, that's only 17.5 fantasy points fewer than in 2007.

Yes, well I've been pretty open about my skepticism of this new era in Denver. Too many people assume that Josh McDaniels can magically replicate the Patriots offense in Denver. Yet Marty Mornhinweg couldn't replicate Bill Walsh's offense in Detroit. Romeo Crennel couldn't replicate the Pats defense in Cleveland. Steve Mariucci couldn't match what Mike Holmgren did running the same WCO. My point is, people get too enamored with system and think it's plug and play. It's all about the personnel. The Pats not only have ASTOUNDING coaching, but they also are masters at finding personnel that fits that scheme. I have ZERO reason to believe that Josh McDaniels will be able to closely approximate what Bill Belichick did. People seem to forget that Shanahan is an excellent offensive coach, the reason the Broncos have a new coach is because Shanny couldn't get his defense right, plain and simple. We also empirically have every reason to think Cutler is an immensely more productive and able QB than Orton. With a new coach, who I think odds and history say will be less than the old coach, I just don't see it. Frankly I think the offensive line and the addition of Moreno should let them have quite a potent rushing attack; but will the defense be good enough to allow them to call a balanced attack? I think the most likely scenario is the Broncos have to throw more than they want to stay in games, and that's when the wheels will come off as Orton is exposed for the average [or less than average] QB we know him to be.

I do believe there is a glaring omission by not putting Atlanta in this ranking.... I think between Arizona and Dallas is about right and would leave the New York football Giants and Chicago Bears completely off the list. And I do understand the list is not in order but think the order is feasible.

All great points, and it will be very interesting to see how McDaniels will do after letting the franchise QB go. However, I think the reason most people are enamored with Mcadaniels' system going to Denver is because they DO seem to have the personnel capable of running the "NE style" of offense with Marshall, Royal, a couple good TEs, a solid O-Line, and now Moreno. That does not mean that the new system will generate a top 10 offense, but it is a good start. IMO, if McDaniels could get Cassell to produce last year, why wouldn't he be able to get Orton to do the same? Is/Was Cassell that much better last year than Orton can be this year? I think Denver's offense is going to be a LOT better than most people are giving them credit for, and I am targetting Royal and Moreno in my drafts.

I see a 50/50 run/pass ratio for 2009. As for the passes thrown, I see them being high completion, low yardage type - i.e. nothing to see here.

thinly veiled WDID thread... can't imagine Orton being a top 10 QB..unless McDaniels knows something we dont? :shrug:lots of INT's, and they'll be in the bottom 5 in time of possession due to that pathetic defense..
