I've got 229 left, lost 21 of cap space. No regrets with Edelman, but why did I take the GB defense when I picked the Cards to win? :wall: Basically, I need Indy, Jets, Dallas and AZ to advance next week. If that happens, I should be a lock to survive the next 2 weeks. If that plays out, and it's Dallas and Indy in the SB....

Alive and going into next week with these guys:

Manning, Wayne, Clark, Addai

Farve, Sidney Rice

Meachem

Witten

Breaston

McGahee

Have no idea if that gives me a realistic shot to advance or not. :D

Whoops, could have swore I heard them say the Jets were going to Indy. Must have been yesterday when everyone was assuming NE would win. :bag:

And all the Jets/Colts Painter Bowl anticipation :) So what do you have to hope for now?-QG

I've got everyone left. I didn't have a feel for the Jets/Bengals game, but I was fairly confident Baltimore, Arizona and Dallas were going to win. Loaded up accordingly:

I'd love to see a Ravens/Chargers AFC Chanmpionship and a Cards/Cowboys NFC Championship. That would be sweet.

HEY DOUG, I was wondering if anyone else out there made it past the first week without having a single QB, PK, or DF on their teams???

I just barely made it this week but only lost 2 of my 18 players! I took a gamble this week and went really thin, but I think that going forward I like my chances to make it to the final week. If the Vikings play the Chargers I should do alright.

Have 8 scores from 14 players next week. Just missed going 4-for-4 and having entire team make it to Week 2. $217 left.

Just about where I wanted to be. Need BALT/SD AFC Champ game and for DALL and their D to dominate.

So of course the only way to win this is to have the best team in the SB so my main strategy was to pick the SB matchup and try to put as many players as possible on that team and hope you don't get bounced early. I decided to go with a Cowboys vs Colts matchup and loaded up on those players. I also decided to try and pick another wild card team other than Dallas which I thought had a good chance to advance and had players at good bargains and grab 2-3 players from that group instead of spreading the players around. I chose Baltimore and Arizona as those teams with Arizona getting picked not because I see them winning but I liked the value for some of their players. In general I did not pick players based on value as much as team. So while I felt Edelman for $11 was one of the best values I don't have him because I decided to put my eggs in the Baltimore basket. So for me I believe the key is not so much how my players do but how well Dallas, Indy, Arizona and Baltimore performs so with 3 of those 4 teams playing this week even if I were to advance this week my chances of winning the contest could be killed quickly. So here is my team:QB- Peyton ManningQB- Tony RomoQB- Joe FlaccoRB- Joseph AddaiRB- Marion BarberRB- Chris WellsRB- Felix JonesWR- Miles AustinWR- Pierre GarconWR- Miles AustinWR- Steve BreastonWR- Early DoucettTE- Dallas ClarkTE- Jason WhittenTE- David ThomasK- SuismanD- Colts

just like you breezed through this week?

Scored 166 with 8 players this week. Next week, I automatically lose 2 Cowboys (took 4), 1 Jet (took 3) and 2 Colts (took 4), because I have more that two players on each of those teams. Lost Edelman and GB defense, so I have to hope 10 players will be enough next week.

It's a fine line to try to select multiple players from the 2 teams you think will make the SB, vs surviving up until then.

Missed by 8 points, not that it would have mattered as I guessed wrong with a SD/GB Super Bowl.

Good luck to everyone!

I survived-but I had GB going the NFC championship game. I also have the strong feeling that there will be multiple people with the same points in the final round.

133.9If I miss by less than a point, I am writing a letter to the NFL to review the final play...that should have been an INT on Rodgers instead of a fumble.
IMO, Rodgers had brought the ball down and was not in a throwing motion. Basically a fumble that happened to be caught in the air, but not a pass.

Can someone point me to the quierier? I've searched this thread a couple of time to no avail. I'll link it to the first post for future ref.

Doug,

Is there a way to confirm the max players from a certain team. In my case, the teams that I have a vested interest in are Baltimore and Arizona. I used the querier and determined that there is only one team alive that matches my top five for the Cardinals so I think that makes me the favorite for an Arizona SB, given of course that I survive that long and Arizona makes it to the Super Bowl, two very long shots.

I thought that it would be interesting to know the max players per team though.

Thanks and this was one of the most difficult contests that you have ever developed.

:lmao:

Aren't there 2 teams in the SB? Just because you have the greatest number of Cardinals, another team could have just as many or more of their opponent if they advanced that far.

I wonder how many teams currently alive have no chance at winning first spot overall. I bet it's a decent percentage.

ETA: Thanks for this contest, great job with the format. Now we just need a draft day subscription contest to get people to registers in the off season! :goodposting:

Defintely. That is why I was curious as to the maximum number per team. In my case I also have several Ravens, but there are lots of entries that have several Ravens. I likely would have to have the Ravens play the Cards to assure me winning, but I might have a chance if it is the Cards against say the Jets also as I have a couple of Jets.

UG - did not have much going this round, figured if I could squeak through than I would have been a contender. Alas, it was not to be.

Good Luck to those that remain.

This is what I am interested in and we may have to wait another week or so. Say you have three Colts and four Cowboys and you are pulling for that SB match-up. I am confident that there are entires out there with the same three Colts plus one and the same four Cowboys that your team could not possibly beat.It may be better to keep more folks in the hunt so to speak than spilling the beans earlier than needed.

I still think that estimated cut line's a little higher than it will probably end up, but we'll see.
I hope you are right. Looks like I am about done around 98, and hoping for not much scoring from the Pack/Cards game. It'll be a bummer if I just miss the cut because I really like what I've got moving on.
This worked out real well :wall: Obviously I'm out. Although after finishing in the money in the regular season contest, I knew I would swing for the fences with the postseason contest. A swing-and-a-miss.

I also went with a Ravens-Cardinals heavy entry, figuring that while such a Super Bowl matchup was unlikely, if it did happen I would be a lock for the money. I should have known that out of ~9,000 entries I wouldn't be the only one with such an idea. :)Anyway, I queried this morning that there are ten teams still alive (mine included) that have at least five Cardinals AND five Ravens. Of course, this doesn't account for teams who might have 3 Cardinals and 10 Ravens or something, who would also stand a chance in an Arizona-Baltimore Super Bowl (the querier doesn't return enough results for me to put together a complete list of such teams). But if you were interested, you could eyeball the teams that were returned from my query to see where you stand:100630102859103276104841104849105646105724105881107215108748

Thomas Jones $14

Brad Smith $2

Sidney Rice $19

Greg Lewis $2

Visanthe Shiancoe $15

Felix Jones $8

Shaun Suisham $6

Kurt Warner $21

Larry Fitzgerald $19

Made it past round one even though I had only 8 of 17 players playing. Lost only 2 players, so 15 remaining. I based this on a Chargers-Vikings Super Bowl, and the querier shows that only 1 other team that is still alive has Rivers, Gates, Floyd, Shiancoe, and Rice, so if that happens, maybe I'll have a shot. I only spent about 10 minutes picking this roster, and I haven't read this thread, so I am probably not taking into account various strategic elements...

Didn't Brad Smith throw a TD pass, or was I just imagining things? I thought I could have sworn I saw a TD pass, but have to admit wasn't paying a ton of attention to the game. All the box scores say Sanchez to Keller now, so I'm probably wrong. But I thought he had gotten one maybe in the 2nd Quarter? Anyone confirm or deny that? Thanks in advance.

Good example of what I was thinking. Even with an extremely unlikely Super Bowl match up of Cards/Ravens if you didn't go very very heavy with players from both teams you still wouldn't have any shot at winning this contest even if you made it to the final week. With just a quick scan of a lot of the teams that made it to week 2, at least half basically have no chance at winning this contest even if the play offs go perfectly for them.

So of course the only way to win this is to have the best team in the SB so my main strategy was to pick the SB matchup and try to put as many players as possible on that team and hope you don't get bounced early. just like you breezed through this week?
Why the need to say that? I said I got bounced this week but next week I'd have had 9 players scoring for me instead of the 6 I had this week. Obviously that's what made this contest challenging was to stockpile members of the two SB teams while trying not to get bounced early so a few thousand people probably have my same lament today. Only thing that I regret is that I nailed it on AZ, Dallas and Baltimore advancing which was the key part of my plan but it still was not enough to advance me. Game over. This is the best fantasy playoff contest I've seen. Good luck to those that are left.

I loaded up on Bolts and Cowboys being my strategy, I didnt want to play and advance to Superbowl and have not shot, so I have 11 of those players. Not sure if I will make it there but I got 20 players going this week, 11 of which will count towards my score. I took no Colts, my Strategy being the Ravens make it to the AFC Championship to fave the bolts, and having the Cowboys play the Saints. I prolly needed 1 more Saint.

Went with a Chargers-Packers Superbowl strategy. Despite losing 4 Packers yesterday, I made the cut. I'm not sure what my prospects are for making it past week 2, but here are my remaning horses:

Philip Rivers, Darren Sproles, Antonio Gates, Malcom Floyd, Nate Kaeding, Jacob Hester

Derrick Mason

New York Jets Defense

Devery Henderson, Lynell Hamilton

Shaun Suisham, Dallas Cowboys Defense

Minnesota Vikings Defense

Steve Breaston

The players I lost after Wildcard weekend:

Aaron Rodgers, Ryan Grant, Donald Driver, Jermichael Finley

Julian Edelman

Reggie Brown

I had 9 possible in WK1, 10 players in Wk2, Best case 6 players in WK3, and 8 players in Superbowl if it is Chargers vs. Cowboys or Saints.

If I somehow tie for first in the Superbowl weekend, I have 3 players for $2 to win the tie breaker. :lmao:

Didn't Brad Smith throw a TD pass, or was I just imagining things? I thought I could have sworn I saw a TD pass, but have to admit wasn't paying a ton of attention to the game. All the box scores say Sanchez to Keller now, so I'm probably wrong. But I thought he had gotten one maybe in the 2nd Quarter? Anyone confirm or deny that? Thanks in advance.
No, Joe Theismann was talking about Smith's throwing ability after a Sanchez TD pass...because he's Joe Theismann.

Whenever these new links pop up can we throw them into the first post? That would save alot of hunting time in threads like this.
Open the querier and save it as a favorite
Right, I guess I'm referring more towards the projections and that stuff where we could see 2-3 iterations a weekend.
Query is now in the first post. I'll add the other links as Doug posts them. He probably can edit my post too.

LOL, thanks ... I should have known better. But then again, I should have been paying more attention to the game too I guess.

I am currently running a program that is figuring out how many teams are mathematically eliminated. Any guesses?

In other news, I am doing a bit of traveling this week and may not have a sim out until possibly as late as Saturday morning.
