2010 QB Strategy Thread (1 Viewer)

Here are all of the differences of 3 spots or more from the list you are using:

FBG has Kolb at #8, not #12. Does this change your Avoid recommendation?

Avoid Kolb like the plague at #8

FBG has Flacco at #11, not #14. Does this change your Target recommendation?

Yeah, 11 would be about right.

FBG has Eli at #12, not #9. Since you already were targeting him, this obviously doesn't change anything.

yeah, my target recommendation was based on ADP more than consensus rankings

FBG has McNabb at #15, not #10. Does this change your Avoid recommendation?

I would actually target him at #15, that's a big difference, also I changed him to neutral

FBG has Roethlisberger at #16, not #20. Does this change your Target recommendation?

that seems about right, he would move to neutral

FBG has Sanchez at #20, not #23. Since you already were avoiding him, this obviously doesn't change anything.

correct

FBG has Garrard at #24, not #21. Does this change your Avoid recommendation?

nope, don't want him on my squad in most formats

FBG has Freeman at #29, not #24. Does this change your neutral stance on him?

maybe, depends on the league

Rivers is not an avoid at #7. That's about right IMO.

I would not touch Kolb at #8.

I would avoid Cutler at #9.

I would target McNabb at #15. That's a steal IMO.

I would avoid Roethlisberger at #16.

I would target Stafford at #17 as a backup.

I would target Henne at #18 as a backup.

I would target Smith at #21 as a backup.

I would avoid Leinart at #27.
I agree with all of that except Roeth, Henne, Smith...would only draft Leinart with AndersonI think for the RB list I'll use ADP data instead of the FBG consensus rankings...too confusing to combine the two for general purposes.

Carson Palmer is THE QB this year who will make or break many fantasy teams. He's got the skills and weapons, yet the past 2 years have scared people off (rightfully so), and he is going late. I've looked at him as a very high backup, who could very well take over and start for you at a cheap price.
I would agree with this...although I like targeting Roethlisberger as my backup QB in most drafts.

The strategy for drafting a QB is quite simple. Don't be a sucker and waste one of your top four picks on a QB. These rounds are for building quality depth at RB/WR. In every fantasy league, you play each week at least two RB and two WR and in most leagues you just play just 1 QB. And since there are more decent WR's than RB's I suggest using 3 out of your first 4 picks on RB's. Almost every year there is at least one fantasy QB drafted in the later rounds that end up in the top 5-7 at the end of the year. I've been using this strategy since 98 and it has worked out well for me. In 99 i took Manning, breakout. 2000 culpepper, breakout. 2001-2004 i pretty much rode favre these years for some reason he was always there late. 2005 palmer, breakout. In 2006 Kitna, ok not a breakout but almost, over 4000yds just not enough TD's and too many picks. 2007 Anderson, breakout. In 2008 Warner and Rogers, i was loaded. 2009 Shaub, breakout. So this year the picks are Kolb and Stafford, get Kolb in 6th or later and Stafford in the 10th. One of these guys will end up top 5. Kolb showed skills last year, he has weapons and Andy Reid believes in him. Thats good enough for me. Stafford, although he was injured last year, had a similar year to P. Mannings rookie year. The lions like the colts that year sucked, but they will be better this year. They added Best, Sheffler, and Burleson and to go along with Megatron he has plenty of weapons. And although their defense will be better they still will be behind in games and have to throw throw throw. So in conclusion, don't draft Shaub in the 3rd or 4th this year, he was last years pick. Load up on RB's and WR's.

And i dont want eli manning on any team ever. If Im starting him at qB in FFL something is wrong
Not sure what's not to like. Nicks is an emerging stud, S Smith is a solid possession WR and Manningham is a very good WR3. Boss is a decent TE in the redzone, and Bradshaw is a decent pass catching RB. NYG defense isn't as good as in the past. Plus he's pretty durable.I don't see why Eli can't get 3800/25......I would imagine close to 4000/28, similar to last year. Pretty good at his ADP. I took him in the 7th round (11th QB off the board) in my last league and loaded up on 2 stud WRs, 3 decent RBs and a stud TE......pretty happy with it.Now I do believe that Eli doesn't have top 5 QB potential, but he should outperform his ADP easily.
