2011 offseason dynasty trades (1 Viewer)

Interested in what folks think about this one. I may have overpaid a bit, but maybe not. What do you all think? 10 man PPR league, standard scoring.

Gave:

Big Ben

R Mathews

Manningham

2012 1st rounder (probably 1.07ish)

Got:

M Stafford

Turner

Crabtree

2012 2nd rounder (probably 2.04ish)

I also have Tebow and McCoy at QB, so I'm essentially taking a huge gamble on Matty S staying healthy and being a beast. Though I really think Tebow could still be my QB1 if he wins the job over Orton. I hate Big Ben when the Steelers win games 9-7.

Of course Turner only has 1-2 years left tops before he falls off a cliff. I want to win now and already had Snelling and Rodgers as cuffs. I think Turner will be a solid RB2 to my RB1 (Charles). I also have Ingram.

I love Manningham's upside, but have a feeling Crabtree will pull it together this year (though most don't think that's the case).

Thoughts?

I wouldn't have done it, assuming it's a dynasty league.Big Ben > Stafford, but really, who cares about this oneMatthews > Turner Manningham > Crabtree (overrated and head case), or you can say Manningham and the 1st > Crabtree and the 2nd.1.07 > 2.04 obviously

Is Mario Manningham really considered more valuable than Crabtree? This doesn't seem to be reflected in any rankings, at least from what I've seen.

I wouldn't think so, wouldn't trade Crabtree for Manningham, but Mario has done well.Thoughts on a recent trade in one of my leagues (neither team is mine) that has people griping?

Ben doesn't have a lot of upside as a fantasy QB and Stafford is 6 years younger. I'm not sold on Crabtree but Manningham probably had a career year last year.The big loss is trading down from Mathews to Turner, who I think is close to the end. He's not a good PPR guy who can hang around a bit longer and provide value either.

Stafford seems to be made of glass and Manningham will be gold this year should Steve Smith leave via free agency. When you factor in giving up the first round pick in addition to switching Matthews for Turner, this trade wasn't close to being even. I'm not sure Crabtree is going to be any better than an average NFL WR and that's before we begin to talk about his attitude.

I would give that all day for the 1.2. Personally I don't believe in Hillis long term. I think Hardesty will cut into Hillis' production. The Giants will always favor RBBC.

Ill take the Giants RBBC as long as Bradshaw is putting up numbers like he did last year. I like Hardesty, and think he is a but low right now, but how much do you really think he is going to cut into Hillis's production, expecially coming of a torn ACL. Hardesty is likely to help Hillis if anything, with someone else to take some carries, he will be less likely to get hurt and/or burn out at the end fo the season. Even if Hardesty takes 25% of Hillis's touches from last season, Hillis would have still finished in the top 10 RB's. Plus, with less touches he would stay fresh and likely be more productive with the touches he does get)Im a little skeptical of Hillis and his long term value too, but i cant figure out why. The only thing i can think of is his running style, and the potential of injuries, but i have been saying the same thing about AD for years. The more i have been watching/reading/thinking of Hillis(in a 90% hetero way) over this offseason, the more sure i become he is going to be a very good back for the next several years. He is being undervalued by "Sharks", and overvalued by "guppies".Ingram is 3 years younger than both, but Hillis and Bradshaw are both just 25 now, plenty young enough to have another 4-5 more productive seasons.For the record, i would take Ingram over either one, just not both.

Getting the certifiable #1 WR for a time share RB sounds like a winning proposition to me. Holmes will likely catch 80+/- passes for 900 yards or so and potentially double digit TD's depending on Sanchize's growth in the offense. Leshour will be splitting time with Best and has yet to prove he is an NFL player. I am NOT saying that Leshour can't be a productive back but we don't know that he will be. Yes Best had turf toe last year but so did McFadden two years ago and how did that turn out? Heck, a lot of people think Lewis has a shot to be a productive goal line/short yardage back too adding value to the trade.

Holmes has never had double digit TDs and the most receptions he has had in one year is 79. Even if you project him for 70 catches and 8 Tds you would be projecting numbers he has only reached once in his 5 year career. Not saying he can't do it because he definitely can, just saying history says it is not very likely.As far as the trade is concerned, I could see an argument for either side, so I don't think its particularly balanced in either direction. I would take the Leshour side. Leshoure is a roll of the dice because he might do nothing for you, but if he is as good as his potential and Best gets injured (some would say WHEN he gets injured) he is going to be pretty productive, IMO.

He only started 10 games last year after serving his suspension (two games to work himself into a new system). If he plays 16 games and gets the 9 targets per game average he did last year (excluding the 1 target in week 17)and his roughly 55%R catch rate he would be at 78 catches; seems reasonable to me. In the absence of Braylon perhaps Keller becomes the Red Zone target so admittedly 10 TD's is the upside but I only said it was possible and again with the likely probability that Braylon is gone he will get more of the deep balls. Like I said, a lot of it depends on Sanchez's growth and the Offensive scheme (as it did in Pitt when he had 79 receptions due partially to the team taking the reins off of Ben).

The cat has the talent to be an 80 catch guy in this offense and if the Jets are going to take it to the next level they need to let Sanchez make plays down field.

Team B received Larry Fitzgerald and a 2012 2nd rd pick.

Team A has a good team and is multiple past winners of the league. After the trade here is some of the players on his team. Phillip Rivers, MJD, Rashad Jennings, Steven Jackson, Taiwan Jones, Bilal Powell, Kendall Hunter, Montario Hardesty, Ronnie Brown, DeSean Jackson, Greg Little, Robert Meachem, Sidney Rice, Steve Smith CAR, Roddy White, and Jason Witten.

Team B is also loaded and could afford to give a little more to get Fitzgerald. Here are some of the players on his team. Really, by "a good margin". Your last part is similar to how I saw it as well.White =< NicksBritt = Stevie JohnsonHarvin >>> HankersonBradshaw =< Mathews4 starters vs 3. Most of the pieces are pretty close to each other except Harvin is a massive upgrade over Hankerson.

I've been concerned about my WR corps in my 1st 12 team PPR - IDP dynasty team. My offensive team before the trade is below:

QB Michael Vick & Kevin Kolb

RB Arian Foster, Darren McFadden, CJ Spiller, Shonn Green & Kevin Smith

WR Austin Collie, Santana Moss, Johnny Knox, Jacoby Ford, Mark Clayton, Jacoby Jones & Damian Williams

TE Dustin Keller & Chris Cooley

I made an offer a couple of days ago that was accepted last night. I gave Shonn Greene and received Santonio Holmes. In my opinion, Holmes has more value than Greene. I know he's being hyped by the OC, but I have little faith in him. I'm really going to need Spiller to make a move this year or it's going to leave me really thin at the RB position. Regardless, I plan to address my depth in our upcoming draft. I'd love to hear if I made a mistake or not.

In summary:

I gave Shonn Green

I received Santonio Holmes.

Some of these trades just leave me stunned. Why would anyone trade Ryan at or near the peak of his value and a starting WR with some upside for picks two years down the road?

Not all of us are on the Ryan hype train. That said, I own Ryan in one league and wouldn't have done this trade even if I had Romo and Flacco. I find 2013 picks to be too speculative, however I imagine that the owner who gave up Ryan is in the EBF/SSOG school that a first round pick, no matter how far it is in the future is equal in value to a first round pick today (never bought that logic, but I imagine that was the reasoning with the owner thinking, "Boy Howdy! I got a first round pick for Ryan!").

Love the Rodgers side. Put Ingram/Green in for "1.2" and I still do. Forte underrated this year, almost as much as he was overrated his 2nd year.

I'll side with Ford, kinda. I don't think Ford will turn out the way many do, but James Jones doesn't have much value to me. Makes sense if the other team has McFadden/Bush maybe.

Close -- I like Bradshaw a lot -- Rodgers is better than Rivers but the gap isn't huge. Fitz is better than Marshall, but again, Marshall's really good. I think this is a pretty fair deal and I may land on the Rivers/Marshall/Bradshaw side, but close -- Rodgers/Fitz are the two best players, so it could swing the other way.

It is an awesome trade for the guy getting Rodgers/Fitz if Bradshaw is stuck on your bench.

Actually, Bradshaw is on his bench if things go right, but he started almost half the season for him last year due to injuries/byes. It's a bit of a gamble, but if his RBs stay healthy, it improves his starting line-up. I kind of agree with Tod here, I view the QB and WR upgrades as smallish- how big the difference between Fitz and Marshall ends up being will probably come down to QB play for their teams.

IMO, the difference between Rivers and Rodgers is minimal so it looks to me like 1.2 for Forte and the 2.7. Whoever is taken at 1.2 will be better long-term than Forte (I don't see him with a long career) and the 2.7 is a crapshoot.

Rebuild here and don't typically like to trade away rookie picks when rebuilding but thought this was great value for the 1.7

Gave - 1.7 rookie pick and Jacoby Ford

Got - Jahvid Best and James Jones

My only other RB was Ahmad Bradshaw and Ford > Jones but really need help at RB

Hmmm I think I would rather have Stevie Johnson over Britt, especially after his lastest dealings. I also see Ingram >> Lynch. Thats A LOT to pay for Vernon Davis.EDITED: Breaking down further Ingram >> LynchK Britt > S Johnson (to be safe - although its closer to even w/o Britt's recent issues)Vernon Davis > Gresham/Keller Cobb >> D Butler Sorry no offense but I don't care for it personally.

I like Britt and Lynch more than most, but i would still prefer the Ingram side.Ingram>>LynchBritt>JohnsonDavis>Gresham/KellerCobb>>Butler
