Uh...Kelly is a UDFA candidate, not a 5th rounder. :(
I have no idea who Kelly is. None.
NFL.com's draft tracker doesn't even have height/weight listed for him. Unreal.
6'8" , 304 lbs.. King Dunlap like....LOL
Reading he didn't get invited to the combine because he was considered to be an UDFA and had a playing weight of 300lbs so many scouts considered him to be undersized. Then he bulked up to 321 for Purdue's pro day and was impressive (re: a workout warrior). He's a major project, but in 3 years or so, if he can bulk up more, he could be a replacement for Peters.

Charlie Casserly:"25% of guys drafted in Round 4 and beyond never start; Round 5 it drops to 20%; Round 6, 9%...."paraphrasing, but interesting numbers.
I'm 80% confident where Kelly will fall....

Obviously their scouting department liked him since he was one of the 30 pre draft visits that came to NovaCare.http://skinnypost.com/team-news/national-football-conference/nfc-east-team-news/pre-draft-visits-philadelphia-eagles/I didn't know who Todd Heremans was either, or didn't think much of the Kelce pick. Sorry, but I'm going to trust Hoawrd Mudd's judgement, seemed to do a good job last year.

Some of us did know Heremans and Kelce and applauded their selections. There is no value at this point for Kelly that's all.

Digging more on Mr. Kelly:

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/sns-rt-fbn-newssx4b28ea1-20120428,0,3841283.story153. Philadelphia Eagles: OT Dennis Kelly, Purdue -- Kelly casts a large shadow at 6-8, 321, and has a nasty streak that makes him a better fit on the right side, where his height and slow rise out of his stance won't be as easily exposed.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/redskins/eagles-take-purdue-ot-dennis-kelly-in-fifth-round/2012/04/28/gIQAbkZsnT_story.htmlPHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Eagles have selected Purdue offensive tackle Dennis Kelly in the fifth round of the NFL draft. The 6-foot-8, 321-pound could help provide depth at a position where the Eagles suffered a major loss in the offseason when five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters tore his Achilles’ tendon.Kelly started every game the past three seasons at left tackle for the Boilermakers, a streak of 37 consecutive games protecting the quarterback’s blind side. Kelly is known for his aggressiveness and being durable. His size makes him an intimidating presence. Kelly was chosen with the 153rd overall pick.

OT prospect Dennis Kelly's performance at Purdue's pro day impressed Detroit scouts enough to earn him a pre-draft visit with the team Friday. Kelly's 30-repetition performance during the bench press drill, coupled with three years of starting experience, has boosted his draft stock considerably. DetroitLions.com reports Kelly has already met with Bears, Cardinals and Colts officials. He has scheduled visits with the Falcons, Eagles and Buccaneers after leaving Detroit.

Nonsense. Philly had him in for a visit, they didn't pull this selection out of thin air. It's the 5th round, I love how you understand their draft board and the value they see better then they do. The story of this draft is their first three picks, if they can realistically contribute, which everyone seems to be categorically in agreement of, then they significantly upgraded a defense that showed us NOTHING last year.

Value is about other team's boards, not your own...

How can anyone have any issues with this draft? Awesome job IMO!!
No kidding. They drafted 4 guys who should help immediately on Defense and/or special teams. Plus a QB and Tackle they can work with and groom for the future. Not to change the subject but does anybody know anything about this Eagles rumor on twitter/Live chat boards stating that ESPN is saying the Eagles are going to be signing Joesph Addai and Jim Leonard?

None of the reporters who cover the Eagles have mentioned it today or in the past couple weeks. Most likely just random message board rumors that people are saying is legit. Haven't seen it on ESPN anywhere either.

Another O-lineman. I know nothing about him except that he was #3 on Kipers best available list so I assume he slipped a lot further than originally thought.

McNutt - don't know much, but what I read he sounds like a bigger Avant.
I watch Big 10 games every Saturday; McNutt is a player. WR2 at best, but definately a redzone threat. Very good size, route running, hands and production. But not many moves or quickness so his ceiling is limited.

Today is when we will see an OL or 2 come off the board in typical Eagles' fashion. Give Mudd some new projects.
Not really going out on a limb but :bowtie: Great draft. I've been following the draft for 30 yrs and never once had one go how I wanted it like this one. My only regret was that they couldn't get Wilson instead of Foles but the pick made great sense none the less. Now if we can only get nutjob Burfict in rd 7.

Take Burfict in round 7, why not?
Because he's a head case. Chris Polk!
I don't even care. Take him and hope for more of what he did Junior year....if not cut him. 95% of that round will be cut anyway.
Burfict is the D version of Ryan Leaf. Very good talent but is un coachable. Got infights with his coaches last year, took stupid penalties, got in fights with teammates, and practically just a guy you wouldn't want some young players around. I wouldn't even considering picking him up as an UDFA. Mean while Would have preferred Nick Toon Wisc, Greg Childs Ark, BJ Cunningham, or Chris Owusu out of Stan. and I know Owusu wasn't picked yet. Maybe he'll grow on me during camp but not jumping up and down about. Could be worse picks though.

I agree w/ everything. If they can harness Burfict, he is a steal. If not, cut him & no big deal

Wow talk about RAW - Brice Brown should be interesting to watch this preseason...
I know nothing about this guy.ETA: From the description on ESPN...sounds like a perfect high upside 7th round pick though  Best draft ever?

Let's put it this way - compared to Barry Sanders out of HS, rated ahead of Trent Richardson as a recruit. Didn't want to backup Hardesty at Tenn, so transferred late to Kan St so sat out 2010. Only had 3 carried in opening game of 2011 and left school and declared for the draft. Basically thinks he is "all that" and there is a (slim) chance he may be.

He was the #1 prospect on Rivals coming out of college. (only RB to do so besides ADP) Had some off the field issues, & left Tenn. But he has elite talent, and could develop into a very good RB.

They absolutely killed Burfict in a recent discussion on ESPN. Dilfer went so far as to say that there are two typs of players in the locker room, one that breaths life into it and one that sucks it all out. He said in talking to the ASU people Burfict falls into the latter BIG TIME. Selfish, "Me" player on the field and off. Plays undisciplined and takes no responsibility for the foolish penalties. Then he fails the drug test and runs 5+ sec 40 at the Combine. I'm all about a crazy LB but the negative energy stuff is a big turn off.

I watched a lot of the SEC considering I'm a Florida fan and after looking this guy up it jogged my memory a bit. I remember him being very good at Tenn before he transferred. #2 RB prospect right behind Trent Richardson out of HS. The potential for him to be successful here is pretty high but his lack of playing time in College is questionable.
