That first pitch was exactly the type of pitch Ortiz puts in the seats... low and inside-middle...

My research indicates that 97% of the people in the stands right now have never been to a baseball game before.
:hophead:
Well, there may be 20% Sox fans at the place
Awesome
To be fair, that's a much lower percentage than there would have been in years past. (not talking smack, just know sox games at trop were home games for a long time)
I really don't care about the attendance. None of us make any money off of who shows up at the park. Never understood why people get off on that.

You don't see how the visiting team's crowd taking over the stadium might impact a game's outcome or a team's morale?

Anyways... neither here nor there. Rays have good support now... brokeback cowbells and all ;)

Overheard in the stands:

"The other team has more points than us now, right?"
You kind of lose the right to do this shtick Laker/Yankee/Bruin fan.
You've known I am a Bruins fan for several years. Prior to 2011, they hadn't won a Cup in 39 years, so if that was some kind of a "frontrunner" burn, I'm not getting it.
It's more of a "you root for 4 different cities including Boston/NY so save the lame fanbase garbage" burn.

For the 80th time, were there a professional sports team in Rhode Island, I assure you I would root for them.

Pretty sure you wouldn't give up the Yankees. Like a lot of people in this area, considering the Rays are only 16 years old.

I'm flying into Rhode Island next weekend. Getting Steamers and pints of Narragansett at Lindy's Tavern in North Smithfield on Friday. :banned:

WTF happened to pitchers...
Warren Spahn and Cy Young used to throw 300 pitches in each game of a doubleheader, then throw another 183 on 2 days rest. Now we've got 130 pitch counts.... and 120 pitch counts...and 110 pitch counts... and now there are "well that's 30 high-stress pitches" pitchcounts.

This time of year, they are gonna rape you on steamer prices. You can get 'em at local markets for $3/lb. in the summer.

SO damn good dipped in melted butter though.

#### man lindys has the bucket and a beer deal that they stick pretty steady to. If you've never been it's awesome. Dive bar with like 8 tables and amazing steamers and chowder. I swear their Fish & Chips is a ####### side of Cod. That said I don't give a #### what they charge... I get steamers once, MAYBE Twice a year if I'm lucky. I'd pay $100 for 10lbs of them and a bottomless pintglass.

Took the GF last time I was in town and bought a round for these old WWII vets at the end of the bar last time I was there and BS'd with em for a bit. Fun guys.
