I think this is the problem we are running into here. For the fans that understand his job and what he means to that defense, this was not the way for Emery to go about this. Are you really serious with this? Top 5 defense and he calls all of the plays and his skills have dropped 75%?He's not an accountant, he's a football player. He's not performing at the same level as he was in his prime. He only has so much time left to play. And he only has so many options football-wise. Apparently, $2MM is his market value. If he doesn't want to take the pay cut, he doesn't have to take it. But he could still be a Bear and earn more in one year than most people earn in a life time. Recognizing that isn't turning on him. That's the reality of the situation. If a company had an accountant whose skills dropped off in a similar way, he wouldn't get a 75% pay cut he'd be fired.Didn't mean it that way. Sorry. Meant it in the context that fans are saying he could be back if he wanted to be. There's more to it than that line of thinking alone. Let someone ask you to take a 75% paycut and do the same job.Whoa, I'm not turning on Urlacher. I wish him only the best. But, I was a Bears fan long before I was an Urlacher fan. And, I will be one long after he is gone. There are times when a fan needs to side with a player or the organization. This time, I side with the organization.Easy to say that when you're not him. You have to take a stand sometimes. He felt it was time he took one. I highly doubt he made a rash decision at this point in his career. He's never been a selfish player and I don't think he became one this time. He felt it was fair to take over a 50% paycut but not 75% paycut to perform the same job. Nothing wrong with that. It amazes me how quickly fans turn on players.Doesn't make cents to me either. People do dumb things because they follow emotions instead of logic.Well, I didn't plan on Urlacher to take the "cut off your nose, to spite your face" route. Now I don't believe he will return to the Bears.
According to the Sean Jensen, "Urlacher doesn’t know what his value is in a depressed market, and he isn’t sure if he’ll get more than the Bears’ one-year deal worth up to $2 million" and when asked if he would test market then return to #Bears if he deemed their offer the best: "No, it's closed".
The guy is going to play in 2013 and he is doesn't know if he can get more than the Bears offered. He will play anywhere but in Chicago, even if it is for less money.
Doesn't make sense to me?You are the one not seeing the "reality of the situation." You must think his only job is making tackles.
@ you thinking you know more about this situation than me.
I was about to post the same thing.I don't think anyone is going to change the others mind on the Urlacher issue so why keep trying.
Eta: No one cares why you don't come in here and post btw. Hth
or white noise. Complaint after complaint. I remember you saying you would never post in here again...but you're still posting. It's like the boy who cried wolf...even if you have a good point...nobody hears you anymore. Please bring up an actual detailed plan instead of....sign OL, draft OL. Which is all you've complained about
Been bringing up guys for years.Didn't you just threaten to leave a few posts back? I sao leave because I was so angry at the Bears. You, basically crying because people aren't doing what you want.
We've been right a lot more than we've been wrong in these Bear threads. I just love the assertion that if you don't blindly support every decision you're not a real fan.
