Spending a 4th round pick for your 2nd QB with idea of trading him at a later date is a dicey proposition. Hope it works out for you, but whenever I have drafted players early that I don't really need with the idea of trading them in the future, it has never played out like I hoped.

I agree with this ... the times I've done this with taking too many WR or RBs taking "value" I've never been able to trade them back for even the guys I missed out on taking. In a vacuum, risk-neutral world where everyone shares your values (and wants to trade) this works out, but not in reality. Bad move.

I really think if you want to acquire assets during a start up in hopes of trading later, selecting top rookie picks is the way to go. I see from this draft they used place holders, (1.1--1.2-1.3 etc) Those picks are only going to go up in value as the NFL draft draws closer and Im betting you would be able to flip those for value down the road.

The effect of the off season hype train can most be seen in the value of Lamar Miller. In the first draft CC posted Miller went 10.03 and in less than two months he's now going 4.06. I know there is a thread dedicated to the Miami situation, but people seem to be taking a real leap of faith drafting him so early, and that's speaking as someone who has just taken him in the 6th myself.

I would take that gamble also. I rather take Miller at the 4.6 than Bush at the 4.10 so I have no problem with that pick

16 teams v 12 teams is far more important than points per TDs. That said, there are at least 14 guys I wouldn't mind having as my QB1 coming out of a startup this year.

Kaep at the 1.09 ...TRich at 1.12 in a 2 RB required league is utterly atrocious. I need to get in some of these leagues ><

How early all of the qbs went in a 4point per pass td league is crazy. Luck at 1.03Kaep at 1.09Brees at 1.11Ryan at 1.13Rg3 at 1.15Stafford at 2.09All ahead of gronk and grahamFlacco at 3.03

Yeah some people obviously don't know what they're doing since I'm in the middle of one where qbs get 6 pts per td and I got kaep in the 4th or 5th round and flacco didnt go until the 14th!

16 teams v 12 teams is far more important than points per TDs. That said, there are at least 14 guys I wouldn't mind having as my QB1 coming out of a startup this year.

You could make that argument if all those qbs weren't taken ahead of gronk and graham, who are even more valuable than normal in a 16 team league

Yeah that strategy never works. You have no leverage and if you look through the league, one team needs a qb, and possibly two others (who have Eli and romo but they should be fine). Now he's trying to get a kings ransom for them. Offers like cam and Hilton for dez sproles and britt

Yea, exactly. I recently drafted in a league like this and paid a price to get up to 1.01 to take Calvin. Didn't pick again until late 2nd and still got Lynch for my workhorse back. Then loaded up on great WRs the next few rounds. Very happy with my team. And still got some decent RBs later that I can plug in if necessary.

I tried to move down in the draft, but no takers. If I had drafted any lower and Calvin was still on the board I would have taken him, but I preferred Richardson at the top spot.

Hard to blame anyone for taking TRich at 1.01, but in this format where you can start 1RB, I think the 1.01 has to be a WR (and for me that would be Julio Jones - but if not Julio, then Calvin or AJ Green).

That's the thing. In a league where you only have to start 1 rb and you can start up to 5 wr's it's a no brainer to take Calvin, aj, or Julio IMO. Wait on rb and get a guy like sjax, sproles, etc 5 rounds later

Yea, exactly. I recently drafted in a league like this and paid a price to get up to 1.01 to take Calvin. Didn't pick again until late 2nd and still got Lynch for my workhorse back. Then loaded up on great WRs the next few rounds. Very happy with my team. And still got some decent RBs later that I can plug in if necessary.

RB is the easiest position to fill in a league like this. Halfway through the season teams not doing so well will want to unload their older backs. With that said, I would have had a big dilemma having to choose between TRich and Julio.

Is this where we nitpick what we consider questionable picks?

Heyward-Bey at #62... ahead of Garcon, Blackmon, et al.?

Lynch ahead of Peterson is interesting.

Brees as QB1? A lot of QB value down through round 5 and beyond.

Nicks fell behind a lot of lesser WRs.

Witten at TE10 is odd.

A couple of people wanted to start shortly after we got our draft order but I rather of wait; between FA and NFL Draft theres just too much value changes for me to go before the Rookie Draft. And waiting an extra month and half gives us a chance to make trades
