is it just me, or has the hype train for Lamar officially run off the track, and into the sky, heading towards escape velocity? The above trade presumes he's an upgrade to Ridley, at the cost of a TE1 in 1.5 PPR. Wow
It's definitely not just you.

I would definitely give up Ridley+ to get Miller.
Yeah, and I don't think you're out of line with the consensus -- but I do think you are all nuts. Ridley is a proven young workhorse with a top 10 finish under his belt. He's also in a great offense. He's what you hope Miller might become, except Miller is on a crappy team that just let their franchise LT walk. He's also a total unknown, a mediocre prospect who fell to the 4th round, and couldn't beat out Daniel freakin Thomas for backup carries last year. But hey, go ahead and value him as a top-10 RB. I'll gladly scoop up Ridley later if I do any startups this year.

Ridley seems to get undervalued a lot in these parts (Same with Morris), unfortunately my league mates don't. That said, you're selling Miller short.

Am I? Which part is inaccurate?
Sorry, I'm drinking so I didn't want to go into detail, but I think his draft position is being overstated due to his shoulder injury and I don't really think the fact that the Dolphins didn't want a rookie RB lining up behind their rookie QB last season is really a concern. Miller is past Thomas on the depth chart right now by all accounts, and that's really all that matters. I doubt him "not passing" Thomas last season had much to do with talent levels while running with the football in their hands.

Made this trade in a 12 team PPR dynasty league. We start 1qb, 2rb, 3wr, 1te, 1 flex (wr/rb/te)

I gave: Brees & Hankerson

I got: Bradford & Andre Johnson

Roster (starters on bold, italics players flex options)

Luck, Bradford Charles, Spiller, Bell, MJD, Ballard Calvin, Nicks, Garçon, Andre Johnson, Little, Hunter, Wheaton, Randle, LaFell, Hawkins F.Davis, Cameron, Celek

Was a little torn as I think Brees is going to have a monster year with Peyton back, but Luck is my long term starter anyway. Just hope AJ has several elite years left.
I am the Brees side of this trade and I' m rebuilding. I think Brees has more elite years left than AJ since you can't touch a QB.

Any other opinions on this trade?

I'd prefer Lamar Miller in this one. Not a Ridley fan though.

12 team ppr start 1qb 1rb 2wr 2flex

Gave

Mendy

Quick

1.12

3.12

Got

Torrey Smith

2014 1st

Other guy is rebuilding and i Could afford to lose mendy with Martin/MJD/Wilson/Tate/Ingram rostered, needed a wr2 to go with Julio and Stevie J, and like the 2014 class more than 2013. Have 3 1st rd picks in 2014 so hoping to take a shot at Lee.

So the guy rebuilding gave away the young WR, that arguably has the highest upside of all the players involved, and a 1st round pick (that should be pretty high since he's rebuilding) in what is believed to be a stronger draft class?

He's doing it wrong.

In complete agreement. I think I'd trade Miller straight up for Ridley.

12 team ppr with devy picks

Team A gave up:
Miller, Lamar MIA RB
Year 2014 Round 1 Draft Pick (probably pick 10-12...with devys gone more like a 2nd rounder)

Team B gave up:
Rice, Ray BAL RB

Lamar is in an O that Brian Westbrook, LeSean McCoy, Ahman Green and Arian Foster came out of nowhere to be top 5. I think he's easily worth Ridley and Pitta.

I wouldn't touch Hernandez. It's one thing to be in big trouble but when bad teammate stories come out with it you're done.

I Give:

Stevie Johnson

Mingo

2014 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th, (Late) 7th (early)

I Get:

Hakeem Nicks

Rueben Randle

I love Stevie but there's too much going on in Buffalo. I don't really believe in Manuel, I could be wrong, and Kolb couldn't even sustain Fitz. I expect them to lean much more heavily on Spiller. Plus you've added Woods and Da'Rick Rodgers to the mix. I think both are really talented. T.J. Graham is there too.

I just find myself wondering how much fantasy value will be found on the Buffalo offense. Still Stevie is as reliable and consistent as it gets. Back-to-back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons and never missed a game. What more could you ask for?

Maybe it was homerism but I *KNOW* Nicks can be a top 5 WR. He needs to stay healthy to do it though. For all the talk about his injuries he doesn't tend to actually miss much time. The whole NYG offense was out of whack last year and I'm hoping they get back on track. I'm also high on Randle.

We'll see though. Time will tell.

Quit second guessing yourself. You got the two best pieces in the trade.

Different offenses in that group. And Pitta will likely score 15+ PPG next year in this format.

I'm starting to think Banemorth is schtick. Every time he gets the obviously better side of a deal he tries to make it out how 'tough' the decision was.

'Fraid not. In the actual league I've already gotten these replies:

"I would take Stevie over Nicks and Randle alone."

And:

"I thought it was pretty fair. A little steep just because 2nd/3rd rounders are extremely valuable in this format in my opinion, but I'd much prefer Nicks to Johnson. He's going to miss games, which is why it's nice to have Randle.

I'd take Johnson + the picks, but pretty fair deal IMO."

Edit: Although I will never brag about "winning" a deal. All that has done, from my experience, is make people much less likely to trade with you.

I am the one who dealt Miller away.

Truth be told, in a vacuum, I prefer the Miller side also. However, with Hernandez going to prison or whatever, I had nothing at TE behind Graham. I don't like having zero depth at a position like that. I also have Rice, MOrris, and Murray so the perceived downgrade from Ridley to Miller won't hurt me as much as adding Pitta helps me I think. Besides, as a flex, I think Pitta has a strong chance to score the same as Miller even if Miller has a decent 1st year as a starter. Ridley who knows, just hoping he keeps getting touches and maybe a few more catches with Woodhead gone now, plus the TE situation in horrid condition.

If Hernandez didn't decide to act a fool, not sure I make this deal. I still might have, but given my TE situation I took it right away. And assuming all three of Morris, Murray, and Ridley won't ALL suck, I should be fine at RB.

Are there any openings in the league?

12 team PPR dynasty (FFPC)

three 2014 1sts (hard to project, one should be non playoff, one is 50/50, and one is likely playoff from the team getting Forte in the deal)

Yes, if you manage your team like a stock portfolio and value possibly winning in 2015 and thereafter more than the next two years.

OK, arguably a good deal for the team getting Allen/picks providing they are in a rebuilding mode and keeping Forte/Bush would probably not help them make the playoffs in 2013/2014 (or advance in them). Plus, they have to hope Allen is as good as advertised and they must also guess right with the picks (which are unlikely to be major fantasy contributors in 2014). How well this deal ultimately turns out for them probably won't be known for a couple years.

And while it depends on the rest of their roster, the team getting Forte/Bush is looking real good to make the playoffs 2013 and 2014 (barring injuries) and may still have two good decent startable RBs in 2015 (who will be nearing the end of their careers but if the team acquiring them wins a league championship in the meantime they will probably view the deal in retrospect as a good one).

Just my :2cents:

Considering these picks can be traded for players next year at a much higher value than they cost right now, this is not going to be a move that will need to wait till 2015.

Yeah, we moved forte since owning hernandez put a huge strain on our playoff chances. We have a good group of Wrs, but felt this move gave us a much better chance to compete in 2014 and beyond. We have five total 2014 1sts at the moment. If we go into next offseason with those exactly picks, its likely we use a couple to pick players and then like three of them to trade for 1 or 2 players.

Receivers have hot streaks all the time, remember when Calvin had 11 touchdowns in 8 games in 2012? He has had 11 touchdowns in the last 24. Why? Because defenses prepare different.

Gore being near the end hurts too, if Hunter or any of the other backs can't carry the load then it is easier for the safety to stay back.

Lets also not forget that as Kapernick develops he won't lock on to one guy as much, there is also a chance that he doesn't develop.

Lastly lets not forget the injury that will most likely make him miss a full year and then another year playing at less then 100 percent. Achilles are a different beast compared to ACLS.
Calvin is probably not the best choice to downgrade another receiver for a mere hot streak. If I recall correctly, Calvin had one of the best seasons ever during your so-called defensive adjustment period.
Yards wise yes but that is because of how bad they were and how much they threw the ball, you could easily argue that a lot of receivers could put up those numbers with that many targets. Defenses did adjust to him catching the deep pass from a year ago and also in the redzone. He did also drop a lot of passes.
The prior poster indicated that Crabtree was the #6 WR in PPR in the latter part of 2012.

You then said (paraphrasing):

Crabtree had a hot streak. WRs have hot streaks all the time. Look at Calvin Johnson!!!

Does that not sound off to you?

Yeah, I would argue the bold is the issue here. Who exactly is a more talented NFL WR right now than Calvin? Please enlighten us.

Doesn't matter how you manage your team or situation really. 3 1sts and Allen for Forte/Bush is a lot imo.

A couple big ones just happened here. league settings in sig, same Team A for both

Team A gets: Gronkowski/Sproles

Team B gets: Cruz/Forte/Gresham/2nd/3rd/4th (all in 2014)

Then this one happened

Team A gets: Aaron Rodgers

Team C gets: Matt Ryan/Greg Jennings/Stevie Johnson/2014 1st

Final Roster for team A is pretty stacked, starters are Rodgers/Luck Fitzgerald/Harvin/Cobb/Nicks Ray Rice/T-Rich/Sproles Gronkowski/Pettigrew

I don't value Gresham and the picks much so this looks like a little more than Gronk/Sproles for Cruz/Forte and I'd be happy with the Gronk side.

Good one for both teams. Nice haul for the team giving up Rodgers.

My thoughts in bold.

No not even a little bit. Averaging just under 1.5 touchdowns a game is impossible for a receiver even Calvin Johnson. Crabtree being the 6 ranked WR in PPR for the end of 2012 was his hot streak. Just because Calvin's norm is better than most receivers hot steaks doesn't mean he doesn't have them.

It's difficult enough to predict the career paths of player. Are we trying to predict hot streaks and who and who won't have them now??

This particular conversation seems like it derailied somewhere, or maybe I missed something.

Getting Forte is unlikely to be a kingmaker move IMO.

I've been offered a similar deal to the Forte deal, but for Trent, and seeing it all down on "paper" for the Forte deal cements that I'm not taking it unless the players involved change. Ingram, Michael Floyd, two 2014 1sts (one likely high) and a 2015 1st for Trent.

Seeing that deal for Forte is an eye-opener. I think its a decent deal for Forte, for someone who wants to win now, if you're a believer that Forte is a rock-solid RB1 for a couple years. Which means its not even close for Trent, and those three 2014 1sts in the Forte deal probably have more value than the 2 2014 1sts and 1 2015 1st in the deal I was contemplating.

I donot care for Ingram at all. I mean, at all. Michael Floyd is MUCH better to me than Keenan Allen.

I would agree the three 1sts on my side and the three you were offered should be viewed as pretty equal.

All that said, I was trying to go after RIchardson and offered Morris, Maclin (or gordon), and a 2014 1st. I was shot down.

I dont see the point in dealing Richardson for just those 1sts and Floyd. I would rather just use Richardson for a few years and then do a similar deal down the road when he is as old as Forte, ya know.

This is pretty much my argument. Its a top-heavy roster that just lost AHern and has the Gronk injury worrying me as well, so I could use the depth/picks. But I basically said I'm not dealing Trent for just those picks and prospects that I wouldn't feel comfortable putting in my lineup. I need either David Wilson or Lamar Miller plus.

With this roster, I might take a deal like the one you offered, though I'd look for a more reliable, but maybe less valued, WR in there than Maclin/Gordon. But it would seriously get me thinking because it would work better for my roster. I'm guessing the guy you offered it to could survive without those extra pieces.

Yeah he can survive. He has Brees, Richardson, Martin, Demarius Thomas, and Gronk. He doesn't have a lot of WR depth though.

He did say I could get Richardson for Morris, Maclin, Gordon, and a projected late 2014 1st.........I can't do that.

He paid a lot less to GET Richardson, also. Not that that matters to him at all, just sayin. He paid Sproles and Decker. Ouch for the other guy.
