Forte, Alshon, Marshall...we're gonna need to drop 34 to win. Yeesh.Worried about stopping them on offense. We will have all kinds of trouble with Forte out of the backfield.
I'll speak for myself in saying no. But, it is a positive that we didn't lose these last two games and, more importantly, they were generally quality efforts back-to-back.You guys back on the bandwagon this week?

Yeah, we've been in first place for much of the season, and I really don't have a strong reaction to wins against bad teams. But, I appreciate the improved effort and execution, which has been better the past couple games. Not sure if that's sustainable or just a byproduct of facing inferior competition. I want to see this translate against a quality team at some point. Chicago is a big test.I was actually thinking of you when I clicked on this thread. I can see a similar defensive game plan as was used against NYG. 2 deep safeties to help avoid big pass plays to the dynamic WRs. Do your best against the run with 7 men. (Having Lee back will help some). Force them to work their way down the field and hope they make a mistake along the way.cobalt_27 said:Forte, Alshon, Marshall...we're gonna need to drop 34 to win. Chicago can't stop the run. Hint, Jason. Just a hint.
####, I forgot to DVR that!Really enjoyed The Great Wall of Dallas. Miss those boys.
I personally think the 93 team is the best team in history. Its pretty good.
I think people forget that this bunch didnt have much of a pedigree at all. And, they started pretty bad, almost getting a young Aikman killed. They came together and became a dominant force.
I miss that offense! When they were clickin, nobody was stoppin em.
We are bias but they're right there. You have those 85 Bears, 86 Giants, 84 49ers as all great teams and of course others, but that Cowboy team had it all, they would have been very difficult for any team to beat.I personally think the 93 team is the best team in history. Its pretty good.

I wish I had your optimism..Never fear Dallas fans. We are still in control of the NFC East.

I'm obviously as disappointed as any fan should be. Terrible game. Another embarrassment. But again, not entirely unexpected with that defense. A lot of those guys don't even belong on an NFL roster...let alone playing significant time. So, what did you think of the game? You realize that you're a big reason this thread is slow, right? No sarcasm at all...I am a 25 year fan of this team, that has come to the realization that this is all this team is ever going to be. Every year we go in thinking it will be better than the last, and it always turns out the same. Can anyone here realistically argue that this team will be any more that a 7-9 win team and a 1st round out for the unforseeable future ?Sensing sarcasm - not strong with this one.I wish I had your optimism..Never fear Dallas fans. this doesn't sound like something that commonly happens?like even in the bucs and lions winless seasons?Stat of the day.
Dallas' defense against the Broncos, Saints, and Bears. 1 forced punt total.
I don't think claiborne is a bust, but the guy was not the right guy for this scheme. And the building blocks they have are also not ideal for this scheme. With the cap situation you are going to either see them extend these ill fitting pieces to the point where they are getting paid well past their useful life or cut them outright and take the lump next year.this doesn't sound like something that commonly happens?like even in the bucs and lions winless seasons?Stat of the day.

when I first saw that, I had to do a double take to see if I was reading it right, it just seemed wrong. intuitively I knew the defense has been putrid, but seeing that really puts things in stark relief. when the defense is that bad, makes it kind of hard for the offense to have a chance. almost like they have already lost getting off the bus. without looking it up, I wonder if some of those games coincide with the time frame of sean lee being out, but than again, he was back last night (albeit had to leave the game at one point, I think).
they have some building blocks on defense. just need some DL, LBs and DBs. seriously, they have a few players out, but I think in retrospect spencer was one of the bigger ones. but when things are this bad, not sure how much he could help. as bad as last year was, they looked like the '83 bears in comparison. is claiborne becoming increasingly viewed as a bust? is there a sense of if kiffin will be back next year?

Not just last night's loss either, it should have never been close in the Oakland game.
T WIlliams was playing well, settling into that #2 WR position, and now Austin decides to show up, WIlliams is nowhere to be seen execpt for 1 catch in garbage time.
This defense is horrendous..I understand there are injuries, but every team has them. Some of these guys just suck.
Kiffin got killed at USC and not that has carried over to here.
I dont know what the answer is minus Jerry handing over all personnel to a qualified GM, and we know thats never happening.
And from what I undersatnd we are in Salary Cap Hell next year so really cant make any major player changes anyway.
This is embarassing
Bob, Sean Lee was hurt during both of NO and Chicago game. He was present on the field for Denver, when they actually forced 1 punt.Bob Magaw said:this doesn't sound like something that commonly happens?like even in the bucs and lions winless seasons?Ridgelake said:Stat of the day.

Dallas is playing a huge number of scrubs. They've had 39 different players get defensive snaps this year.
After last year's draft, the DL was expected to be: Ware, Ratliff, Hatcher, Spencer. This was to be backed up by 2nd year man Crawford, Sean Lissemore, Josh Brent, and Kyle Wilber. Ware got hurt in game 4 (stinger) and hasn't been right since. Ratliff never suited up this year. Nor did Spencer. Hatcher has been good all year and leads the team with 9 sacks. Crawford tore his Achilles in the first camp practice. Brent, shall we say, retired. Wilber has been moved to LB where he is clearly a better fit. And Lissemore was traded before the season started. So on the roster last night, all of 2 DL who they expected to be on the team were there. And Ware is not healthy. Everyone else was off the street since the start of training camp.
At LB, Lee has been a pro bowler. Bruce Carter was to be the perfect fit for this system at WOLB. Justin Durant, was to be SOLB. Backups were to be 6th rounder Holliday and Ernie Sims. Carter has been mediocre at best. Clearly not showing awareness. Sims was signed off the street last year and its clear why. Holloman and Durant have been hurt most of the year. The defense on the field at the end of the game yesterday were guys off the street.
At CB, Carr is the $50 million man who hasn't played up to his contract this year. Claiborne was generally regarded as the top defensive player in his draft 2 years ago. But he hasn't been healthy in 2 years and is way behind in learning as a result. He may still develop into an above-average CB. But he needs a healthy offseason followed by a healthy regular season. He hasn't had either yet. Scandrick is an above-average slot guy who's played well most of this year in place of Claiborne on the outside. But he was physically overmatched last night. In his place at nickel is 4th round rookie Webb. He is a small school guy who may develop over time but is not ready yet. A guy signed during the week played the 4th CB spot last night.
At Safety, Barry Church is their best guy and he played last night. Opposite him is a UDFA rookie, Heath. Backing them up was small school 3rd rounder Wilcox who's working his way back from injury. Wilcox looks like he'll be good in time. But he's not there yet.
Kiffin's schemes are predicated upon getting pressure with the front 4. Only Hatcher can reasonably do that now. McCown had all night to throw. Was he even hurried, much less sacked? You can line up Deion and Revis in their primes and they would not have success if the QB has all day. And once the LBs went down (Lee and to a lesser extent Carter), it was simple to run against the D. Can't stop the pass. Can't stop the run.
39 players have suited up on defense this year. Only 2 DL from post-draft timeframe are still there and only 1 is reasonably healthy. Kind of hard for any coordinator to have success with that. Much less one who doesn't seem inclined to varying things up. I think Kiffin takes the fall in the offseason, just like Rob Ryan did this past offseason.
Second-best effort of the season, IMO behind only the Rams game. But, a much more important game, so I'd say it's the best W of the year. I could nit-pick a few things, but mostly around execution. Otherwise, a very complete effort altogether.
Excellent win.
So tons of positive comments last week. What changed? So, tons of negative comments here today. What changed?
