*2014-15 Hot Stove Thread: The Padres won it I guess (1 Viewer)

What am I missing with Heaney? Lefty. Last summer he was one of the young arms to look out for coming up. Doesn't appear overpowering but still surprised Angles got him for Kendrick.

His star seems to have really fallen based on a short unsuccessful stint with the big club last year. His minor league numbers aren't spectacular but a back of the rotation lefty is still a valuable commodity.

Interested to see how Red Sox fill out rotation. Praying they don't sign Scherzer for 200 million. Bud Black was on MLB radio yesterday and seemed confident Matt Kemp would be a Padre. Wonder is they would still want Cespedes in a deal for Kennedy.

I would assume Phillies want a blue chip pitching prospect in any deal for Hamels.

The Flying Elvis said:
Gordon/Haren for Heaney/Hatcher/Hernandez/Barnes ... Apparently Haren has also threatened to retire if he isn't on the Angels or LAD? So I don't really get this trade for the Marlins. Hell, I wouldn't trade Heaney for Gordon straight up nevermind adding in some peripheral prospects.
Seems like the Angels would flip them something for Haren if he's serious? The Dodgers are paying his salary, so he'd basically be a free pitcher.

Will never understand this Kemp deal. Best they can do is some catcher that has a PED strike on him and some spare parts.

Oh BTW, we'll send you $31m too

We want all the prospects.

I can't confirm, but talking head on Philly radio just said that it's a three-way deal with San Diego Philly and LA with Hamels being included as well. With Grandal moving from LA to either Philly or San Diego.

Eta: just my opinion on the delay, it may be taking time for Philly now choosing prospects from the multiple trades of LA.

Really like the Porcello deal for the Sox barring the two prospects not being crazy.
Porcello is a solid #4 starter. Porcello faded bad down the stretch last year and looked like he was pitching BP. With both players on contract years this should be a good one year deal for both teams.

That's my thought as well. Porcello is not a foundation piece or a candidate (please no) for an extension after this season.

So Grandal is going to LA and then back to San Diego?

The delay is that they now have a process for reviewing the list of prospects that SD or LA could choose from. It includes 108 people to check and re-check its accuracy.

 Well no, I obviously worded that wrong. Talk to text on the go and not double checking.

No way the Red Sox would trade Cespedes for Ian Kennedy alone
