By Friday, Jacksonville will sign Cleveland's transition-tagged C Alex Mack to a 5-year offer sheet the Browns will have five days to match.
Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter

Alex Mack's 5-year deal with Jacksonville will be designed to make it as difficult as possible for the Browns to match, per sources.
Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter

Sources close to Alex Mack say he wants to play this contract in Jacksonville, not Cleveland, which opted not to give him long-term deal.

To recap: Alex Mack highly impressed with Jacksonville, wants to play there, will sign 5-year offer sheet by end of week, per ESPN sources.

Panthers agreed to terms with TE Ed Dickson on a one-year, $730,000 contract.
Although Dickson is coming off another disappointing season in Baltimore, he'll be in the driver's seat for No. 2 duties in Carolina. Given an opportunity to finally break out in the absence of Dennis Pitta last season, Dickson responded by catching only 25 passes in 16 games. He'll be called on to block, but has typically been a liability as a blocker. Despite the Panthers' dearth of pass catchers, Dickson should remain off the fantasy radar in 2014.

The Panthers are expected to employ more two-tight end sets in 2014.
Hence, their signing of Ed Dickson. Dickson will undoubtedly get a chance to catch passes, but he's never been particularly good at it. His presence will have little, if any, effect on Greg Olsen's fantasy value.

Sources tell CSN Bay Area that the 49ers are in talks with free agent WR Brandon Lloyd.
The 49ers struck out in their pursuit of free agents such as Julian Edelman, Emmanuel Sanders and Hakeem Nicks. Now they turn their attention to a 32-year-old Lloyd that was out of the NFL last year. It's yet another sign that they don't want to head into the season with Quinton Patton as the No. 3 receiver behind Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree. Lloyd began his career as a fourth-round pick of the Niners in 2003.

Not when Patton is potentially involved in a rape case.

Bucs signed Lavelle Hawkins- oddest YAC of any WR, he hops like a kangaroo or water bug or something. He always hopped and got some room, but he didn't have the speed to "take off" and use that space. I doubt he's ever anything in the league, but in his college films the hop led to him running straight forward and making some plays. Rarely did for TEN though.

Reunited with Jeff Tedford.

CSN New England expects the Patriots to show interest in free agent TE Dustin Keller should he remain unsigned after the draft.
In all likelihood, Keller won't be finding a job in the next four weeks. His agent recently said Keller will be ready for the season after destroying his knee on a devastating hit from D.J. Swearinger last preseason. Keller turns 30 in September. If he can return to pre-sinjury form, he'd be a nice bargain signing.

Updating a previous item, free agent QB Matt Flynn will not work out for the Giants on Tuesday.
It was previously reported that Flynn was going to join fellow free agent Josh Freeman in the Meadowlands on Tuesday, but Flynn is not taking part for unknown reasons. There may have never been a visit scheduled in the first place. Flynn's best bet is to return to Green Bay on a minimum deal.

49ers signed WR Brandon Lloyd to a one-year contract.
Lloyd's name surfaced again last week after he hadn't been in the news since September. He was released by the Patriots in a salary-slashing move last offseason and spent the 2013 season on the street. The soon-to-be 33-year-old was described as a bit of a locker-room lawyer in New England then went on to "star" in a direct-to-DVD zombie movie during his time away from the game. Lloyd will compete for a roster spot behind Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin.

Done deal with the Giants and QB Josh Freeman. He's agreed to terms, per source.

Mike Garafolo‏@MikeGarafolo4m

Giants were the only team to face Freeman while he was a Viking. He played poorly, so clearly they believe he got a raw deal in Minny.

Rams waived RB Daryl Richardson.
Someone was going to be the odd man out in St. Louis' crowded backfield after the Rams spent the No. 75 overall pick on Tre Mason, but it was expected to be Isaiah Pead, not Richardson. Playing through turf toe, Richardson was dreadful as a sophomore after opening the season as the Rams' de facto starter, managing only 215 yards on 69 carries (3.11 YPC). Just one year removed from a successful rookie campaign as a change-of-pace back, Richardson is unlikely to make it through waivers unclaimed.

Free agent WRs left 1. Santonio Holmes 2. Sid Rice 3. Miles Austin 4. Damian Williams 5. Danario Alexander 6. Robert Meachem 7. Earl Bennett
Is there a reason that Santonio Holmes is pretty much the only name WR remaining unsigned at this point?
Guessing it's because he milked his injuries to stay off the field, quit on his team and quit on a coach who was fighting for his job.

Rotoworld:

ESPN's Scott Brown reports the Steelers haven't shown "any interest" in a reunion with free agent Santonio Holmes.
Speaking in a Tuesday radio interview, Steelers CB Ike Taylor said both Holmes and free agent James Harrison are interested in returning to the Steel City, but the feeling isn't mutual. Now on the wrong side of 30 and coming off a star-crossed tenure with the Jets, Holmes has been greeted by crickets on the open market.

ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss believes the Patriots could be waiting until after June 1 to sign free agent TE Dustin Keller.
Players signed after June 1 do not count toward the compensatory pick formula. Keller's health is in question after he tore three ligaments and dislocated his knee last August, but could fill the Patriots' "move" tight end void if healthy. There's also a question of whether the Pats need a "move" option as they transition to more of a three-wide offense. Either way, Keller will be at most a late-round fantasy flier.

Rotoworld:

NFL teams can sign free agents without it working against them in the compensatory draft-pick process beginning today.

It's June 1, in case you hadn't checked your calendar. Compensatory picks are awarded based on a loss-gain formula in free agency. The biggest obstacle for Jermichael Finley (neck) to get signed is inarguably his health, but it's possible teams will be more willing to entertain adding him now that he won't cost them a chance at a 2015 compensatory pick. Dustin Keller is also available.

A source tells NFL Network that the Falcons are "looking hard" at free agent LB Jonathan Vilma.
The Falcons are scraping the bottom of the barrel as they try to replace starting LB Sean Weatherspoon, who ruptured his Achilles' tendon on Tuesday. Vilma, 32, has battled serious knee issues since 2011 and been certifiably ineffective when he has suited up. Perhaps the Falcons view him as a mentor/backup for versatile rookie Prince Shembo. In addition to Vilma, GM Thomas Dimitroff is also looking at backup-caliber free agents Pat Angerer and Tim Dobbins. They're reportedly not interested in London Fletcher or James Harrison.

Free agent WR Santino Holmes is still hopeful he will find a team during training camp.

The 30-year-old Holmes has had nary a whisper of interest since he was released by the Jets in March. Holmes has struggled with injuries the last two seasons, only playing 15 games and recording 43 catches over that span. He insists he is healthy now and ready to contribute. Even if he finds a home Holmes will be well off the fantasy radar this season.

Vince Young - QB - Free Agent

Free agent QB Vince Young has announced his retirement from the NFL.

"I'm retired," Young said. "Unless we get a great opportunity, something guaranteed, I've started moving forward. It's definitely official, in my book." Young briefly signed with the Browns in May, but was released prior to minicamp. He hasn't appeared in an NFL game since 2011. Young went 31-19 in six years as a starter, passing for 8,964 career yards, 46 touchdowns, and 51 interceptions. He made two Pro Bowl appearances. Young, 31, said he plans to work for the University of Texas in some capacity.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports the Packers "have not shut the door"on re-signing free agent Jermichael Finley.
Finley met with Green Bay last month, but didn't undergo any medical testing. The Packers are in "wait-and-see mode" and haven't ruled out bringing him back. Finley was cleared by an independent doctor, but has yet to get clearance from any teams. The Packers added depth to move on from Finley, re-signing Andrew Quarless, and adding UDFA Colt Lyerla and third-round TE Richard Rodgers. Finley can collect $10 million in insurance money if he decides not to play again.

Felix Jones - RB - Free Agent

Free agent RB Felix Jones believes he still has "some gas in my motor," and hopes to play this season.

"I know something is going to happen, I have a gut feeling," Jones said. Fragile Felix turned 27 in May and rushed for 184 yards on 48 carries (3.8 YPC) across a full 16-game schedule for the Steelers last season. Experienced in blitz pickup, Jones should be able to generate some looks once injuries pile up.

Things are gonna change, I can feel it.

ESPN Boston warns not to cross free agent Dustin Keller off the Patriots' list.
Keller remains unsigned, likely because his health is still a question mark following last August's gruesome knee injury. But the Patriots are desperately thin at tight end, and Keller could fill some of the "move" routes Aaron Hernandez used to run. Jermichael Finley (neck) is another option.
