I probably should be worried about ARI but I'm not. I don't expect Lindley to do much of anything against our defense and better play from the CBs in STL should have resulted in at least 1 INT in limited time. I have to think the LOB is going to get to him early.Worried more about the Cardinals but it's nice things coming down to week 16.

Arizona is 11-3 for a reason, their defense is awesome. If the game was in Seattle I wouldn't be worried at all, but I don't think that's an easy win at all ever vs the #3 QB in Phoenix.I probably should be worried about ARI but I'm not. I don't think it will be easy against AZ, but the good news it's a primetime game. Seattle always seems to play better under the bright lights when everybody is watching. I believe Seattle is 10-1 (without looking) in primetime during the PC era.

At this point I'm not worried the Seahawks are going to look past this. They take it 1-0 each week and I'm certain they understand the importance of winning this with the Cowboys (most likely) winning their game.

OTOH, pretty surprising to see Super Bowl MVP Malcolm Smith barely get any run this whole year with Irvin emerging as a super stud.

To be fair, this is an extension so the signing bonus is pro-rated across (I believe) 5 years so his cap hit will likely be more in the $5M range.
Malcolm Smith has looked lost when he's been out there IMO. I think he's thinking about it too much instead of just reacting, which is suddenly what it looks like Irvin is doing.
Getting Wright's contract out of the way will pave the path for Wagner's contract and ultimately also Wilson's contract. I'm pretty pumped up that he got this done...

Obviously there can be no certainty with this game, but I was confident when Drew Stanton was QB. I don't see what part of that 19-3 game will improve with the new QB/RB combo, and HFA isn't enough to overcome those changes.Yes, no and yes. KJ Wright deal seems team friendly to me, and he's pretty solid. I am really hoping they can get a deal done with Wagner.

Smith is nowhere close to being in the talent and ability range of Wright. I've been referring to Smith as "the weakest link" for the past two years. Random variability led to him getting the opportunity to have the ball fall in his lap a few times in big moments. Wright is a long term keeper. Smith is just a guy, albeit with great speed. That you would try to compare Smith to Wright makes you look like you have a rather uninformed opinion.
Irvin has been here three years. At some point his potential is just that. Super stud? Nowhere near super stud.
Wright does his job well, both against the run and in coverage. Very happy they got Wright locked up so they can focus on Wagner and Wilson. Still not sure what they're going to do at the guard spots on the O-line.

The only thing better is if we get the right wins/losses so we are primed for the #1 overall seed and a cake walk into the Super Bowl for the second year in a row.

He's hit so many home runs with choosing where to allocate the cap. Even when they did make a mistake they were able to take responsibility for their mistake (Harvin) and do what was best for the team. Other than Harvin, every long term deal has paid dividends. I think I've been most impressed with the management of the defensive line. Clemons, Bryant, Mebane, Bennett, and Avril have all received big second contracts and continued to produce at a high level. Well, time will tell on Avril. Actually, Carroll probably deserves a lot of credit for that second part. Schneider paid them, and Pete continues to get quality play out of them.

Yup... Bennett and Chancellor don't become free agents until the 2018 season. Sherman, Earl and K.J Wright are good until 2019 and Avril won't become a free agent until the 2020 season. That is a SOLID core for a very long time.

These seem to be great moves. But in the end it is a zero sum game. What are the Seahawks sacrificing by locking up all of these defensive players ahead of Wilson's big contract?biju said:

But it seems to me that Lynch will likely be gone or his performance will fall off soon. I doubt Turbin and Michael will fully replace what he has provided. So it seems they will need more from the passing game as soon as next season. I'm sure Wilson can do more, but I think he needs a better OL and better targets. And it seems these moves could preclude addressing those needs.

I think this is what you get when you have 4 UDFA (Baldwin, Kearse, Lockette, Walters) and 2 rookie (Richardson, Norwood) WRs and only 1 OL you're spending big money on (Okung). Yes, Lynch leaving at some point is going to hurt but there doesn't seem to be a reason why he can't stay next year as well given the amount of salary cap we have available.
I'm not expecting it, but there isn't any reason why Wilson doesn't take a discount either. The guy will *always* make more money outside the game than he will be paid to play, and being successful and winning continues to guarantee it.
Having said that, the Seahawks cap space isn't anywhere near dire. In fact, up until these previous signings we had the most cap room in the NFC West.

I've mentioned it several times, but if you're not following Davis Hsu on twitter you're missing out on very cool Seahawk cap analysis.
In his opinion it shouldn't be a problem for Seattle to keep the entire team intact through next year. He made some interesting guesses today with regard to Maxwell being the only guy they might not be able to afford after next season.
As long as injuries don't decimate Seattle they *potentially* are going to remain competitive for several years.

Exactly. Hsu is mostly the reason why I generally laugh off opposing fans when they say we won't be competitive when we have to "pay" everyone.

I rather that they pay the money to retain core players and fill other positions of need through the draft (Seahawks seem to get great UFDAs). Can't solve all of your problems by throwing money at free agents.

Pretty surprised what they did on offense tonight. Hauscka missed three FGs, and although they were all pretty long, this score could have been quite a bit worse.

Does anyone get the sense that Lynch does not like Wilson? For whatever reason, I never see them high-fiving or congratulating each other. Just an observation.
