**2015 MLB Season Thread: This is how the chapter ends (2 Viewers)

lololololol

Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports that the Mariners did indeed contact the Phillies regarding Revere, but talks quickly halted due to the unreasonable asking price of James Paxton or Taijuan Walker.
Well, in Ruben's defense, Seattle doesn't have much in the way of SP prospects in the high minors.
You'd think Philly wouldn't be picky and would take any sort of yung upside that they can find.

It's amazing that Amaro's still there. How much value have they let just melt away by not dealing Papelbon/Hamels?

Ben Revere is terrible though.
He's a 2 win player. People focus on the things he obviously can't do instead of the things he does moderately well. Revere doesn't seem like he has a skill set that will age well but he should be OK for two years until he's FA eligible.

That said, I have no idea why Jack Z would be interested in Revere. The Mariners already have Austin Jackson who has more than a little Reverishness in his game.

Two wins seems optimistic.
Yeah, I don't see 'em either but 2.8 fWAR in 2012 and 2.1 last year (with 0.8 in 88 games in the year between). His offensive game is so limited that he pretty much has to hit .300 to be valuable but his lifetime average is .296.

Revere went to the Phillies in exchange for fantasy pickup du jour Trevor May (along with Vance Worley). May has no track record of success but I'm sure Ruben would take a warrantee return on that deal now.

but he's been worth 0.4 this year, and is projected for another 0.7. Maybe his ship has sailed.

I think most publications and most people here assumed they would be the best, or one of the best hitting teams. Doesn't make me a homer to agree with that.

Nearly every player is performing far below any projections. Not sure anyone predicted that.

Well in 2013, everyone had career years in an improbable...maybe the most improbable WS win of my lifetime. To even that out, they should lose 90 games for the next 20 years IMHO. Actually they should just fold, that would be best for everyone.

His defensive game isnt much better. Sure, he makes highlight reel catches, but he also takes bad routes according to the metrics and he has to have the weakest arm in MLB. Im actually embarrassed for him when he's forced to wind up and throw as hard as he can.

FWIW - Ruben vehemently denies rumor that he asked for Walker or Paxton in return for Revere.

“Typically we would not comment on rumors. But when they reach this level of ridiculousness, I can say unequivocally that what has been written is false.”
I want Amaro gone as much as the next Phils fan, but man, someone in the press really hates him. Pretty much every article is either ripping him for not making a trade, ripping him for asking for too much, or making up false stories to make him look like more of an idiot than he already is. Tough spot for ole Rube.

what is up with the perspective on the Baseball Tonight set? Glanville usually looks like he towers over Ravech, but now tonight Jonah Keri looks like he's about 40 feet tall. That front right part of the stage must be lifted or something.

It seems like the Astros have drawn a ton of lefties the last month or so, but it still amazes me that Valbuena continues to start against them anyway.
