**2015 MLB Season Thread: This is how the chapter ends (1 Viewer)

Skipping a couple of September starts and having Harvey pitch the playoffs seems like the most reasonable course of action. 5 up with 25 left is pretty solid. If the Mets take the rest of this series the NL's going to be pretty dull this September.

I don't blame Mets fans for hating him.

Waino may get hurt every other year, but he's willing to throw 875 innings with tape and silly puddy holding his elbow together (or in this case, his Achilles) if he can talk the training staff into letting it fly.
Wainwright also has a monster contract. If I'm Harvey, with arbitration in my very near future, coming off TJ, and "only" making $614k I'd probably stick to what my surgeon told me too.

Here's the issue: the Mets have been trying to limit/stretch his innings since June. They've had six man rotations and planned to skip starts. They've pulled him after 6 when he had enough for at least another inning. Without fail, every time Harvey #####ed about it and said he wants the ball every 5 days, and doesn't want to get skipped.

He can't have it both ways. He doesn't get to act like the tough guy through the summer only to back down when it's getting tight and this IP limit, which was never discussed with the team, comes into play because he wasn't going along with the steps to keep him fresh all year.

Oh, I understand why he's doing it. I'm just saying I also understand why the people paying for the tickets and watching the games on television (that ultimately make his impending massive contract possible) find it obnoxious.

If he doesn't want to pitch, so be it. The negative public perception is his trade off.

ETA: Both of Wainwright's elbow issues came prior to his massive contract, though the TJ in 2011 was after an agreement to lock in pay in exchange for buying out arb years. In some ways, I guess he's not really an appropriate comparison for this discussion. I mostly brought him up due to the positive fan reaction he gets during his recoveries.

True. He can't have it both ways.

I'm targeting Porcello in '16, btw. Esp. if they keep that slug out of LF and play Betts and Bradley together, which seems like a good bet given how the Sawwwwks are playing out the string here.

I think you said at some point that Boston was the best hitting team in the AL. Did you mean in the past or future? Because the present ended really badly for you. But then again, you have your Yankees and Twins. One of them is bound to make the playoffs!!!!!!!!!!!!
@jonmorosi: #RedSox have scored more runs since All-Star break (259) than all but one AL team -- the #BlueJays, naturally. @FOXSports

i dont see the big deal as long as he roots for ONE team for each sport. I root for the Yankees and 49ers

You've been saying this since 2004 and it still makes zero sense. Fresno Bob wasn't even from Fresno.

st johns, dont have a favorite nba team and dont watch nhl. Hth

I'm going to miss Ruben Amaro Jr. He was one of the few people in baseball you could criticize on this board without worrying about ####ing somebody else off. There are precious few of them left, e.g. Cowboy Joe West, Jeffrey Loria, Curt Schilling, Harold Reynolds

I just hope that when he's still unemployed a year from now, he says that it's because teams aren't being aggressive enough to hire him.
