2015 NBA Thread: I felt a great disturbance in the trolls, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. (1 Viewer)

3J McCollum @ 10 looking mighty good these days.
People love re-drafting good drafts but I'd like to see someone write up a redraft of that awfulness.  What's the top 5? Antetokounmpo, Gobert, McCollum, Noel, Oladipo?  Maybe Olynyk in there somewhere?  Man, that's ugly.

Quality nicknames though, with Greek Freak and the Stifle Tower leading the pack.

KCP's turning into a pretty solid player, too

Porter's not terrible either, he killed the LeBron-less Cavs yesterday :homer: But there's just nothing at the top.  When all is said and done how many all star selections does that class get?  Less than 10?  That seems impossible generally speaking- the group ahead of them probably gets double digits within the next two years - but it seems more likely than not with that crew.

Oladipo is a fine player. Doesn't look like he will be a star, but he can be a useful to very good player on a good team.

That draft super sucks though.

I'll definitely take the under on 10 all star selections.

Easily, right?  Meanwhile 2012 will get there next year I think.  2014 is a little more difficult because we haven't had time to evaluate a lot yet but you'd certainly take the over just on Wiggins + a few randoms alone.  I'd take Rodney Hood on my team over all but maybe 3 or 4 of the 2013 guys.  Also that class is very good at dunking.

Tobias Harris working out well for the Pistons. They've won 4 straight including wins over Cleveland and Toronto (granted Lowry didn't play).

Having another guy like Harris who can create shots and draw defenders has really opened things up, and he's been good about moving the ball and taking efficient shots.

Defensively he's terrible though and has no idea how to handle switch situations. But so far it's been worth the trade-off.
if you had traded brandon jennings for a bag of moldy and slightly rotten durian fruits which are renowned to be the smelliest fruit ever it still would have been a good trade brohan so the fact that you got back a guy who is not like the definition of a lockerroom cancer in human form back is just gravey take that to the bank bromigo also i am rocking out to the outfield your love right now and it is pretty fn  sweet bam score one for the old swcer

Wonder how many 1st round picks period by been waived not once but twice before the age of 23.

I'm sure he'll get one more NBA chance rest of this season before either heading overseas.

Toronto is going to try and stash him on their D league team. Doubt they've 100% given up on him but they desperately needed another option at PF this year. They wouldn't have waived him if Scola! hadn't turned into a complete dumpster fire the last couple months IMO.

A recent on-court scuffle in one of those games revealed Michael Beasley, Unlikely Voice Of Reason.  Perhaps he's got it together and ready for the Association again.  Can't be any worse than Anthony Bennett.

And BTW, if you ever wondered what it would be like if Donald Trump and Marco Rubio argued about basketball history... Check out page 4 of the Curry v Jordan thread.

That one crazy dude is just arguing with himself and using other basketball quotes to prove his argument.....to his self?

Rumor is Suns will be interested if he clears waivers. He may actually step on the floor -- and play -- here. Maybe he prefers the D league

could it be that the bangos have finally turned the team over to giannis anteaternintendo and jabrari parker brothers or could it be that the wizards of ancient sumaria hid the nights templar azteca taco treasure on oak island tune in tomorrow to find out against indiana take that to the bank bromigos

Anthony Bennett waived by Toronto.  Gotta be up there as one of if not the biggest bust in NBA history.

Sincerely,

Fan of team that drafted Sam Bowie and Greg Oden

Neither Bowie & Oden are even the worst pick Portland has ever made.  Probably a bit before your time but in 1972 they drafted LaRue Martin with the #1 overall pick.  He played only 4 seasons averaging 5.3 ppg.  The Trail Blazers went with LaRue over #2 pick Bob McAdoo and Dr J also was in that draft.

Testing the old gambling adage that you 'short' road teams playing in New York with a full day of 'down time' before the game.  Blazers arrived in New York on Sunday night.  Going to take the home town Knicks +5.5 for kicks and giggles to see if this theory is accurate.

Odds are slim but would love to see the Bulls pick him up. Let Derrick Rose sit out all he wants. Really wish they'd had been able to deal Rose for Joe Johnson.

Ty Lawson has reportedly agreed to a buyout with the Rockets.
Lawson will clear waivers on Thursday, at which point he'll be free to sign with a team of his choosing. He could be worth a speculative add in deep leagues in case he lands in an ideal situation, but with how bad he's been this year, he's not all that attractive of a pickup in standard formats. Jason Terry will now be Patrick Beverley's primary backup, but a 20-minute reserve role off the bench isn't enough time for Terry to produce standard league value. Mar 1 - 2:19 PM

ty lawson to the bangos would be a good thing honest they could send michael crapper willliams to clean the toilets and make his circle of life from a pg to a guy living up the old swcers nickname for him complete and then ty lawson would be able to dish about ten dimes each night to giannis and jabrari and moose monroe even take that to the bank bromigos

Pretty sure Lawson and Milwaukee beers don't mix.

yeah that is probably true but man there is now beer everywhere and i guess as far as it goes there are a whole heck of a lot less ways to get in trouble in milwaukee then there are in places like miami new york or la so who knows it would be good to get a pass first run the floor type pg for milwaukee who is lawsons defense brohans take that to the bank

Should playoff bound teams start resting players when they play Golden State?  I was thinking about this watching the OKC game the other day and then when I saw the ATL highlights.  The best shot teams have against them is to get them off their game somehow....why not attempt that by letting them coast for the next 2 months against under manned teams?  Just a thought, maybe a dumb one.

I for one, find it hard to believe this ownership group would be having shady dealings.
Looks like he decided suicide after being indicted...that is just nuts. The guy had the resources to shove that off and buy some time, the situations people with money find themselves in. Money makes good people better and bad people worse.

Decent amount of basketball talk at Stanford Sports Innovation Conference today. Nate Duncan moderated a panel, Guber and Lacob were opening keynote, and Kirk Lacob shared a bunch on scouting, all among other things.

Might catch some of it if you listen to whatever Duncan's next podcast is. Idk though.

Any other Piston fans in here? I really like what Van Gundy is doing here and I am excited to see tonight's game, I don't expect a win. I want them to make the Spurs play the whole game though and keep it close.

Spartans Rule

I think Brit

There used to be a couple more during the Chauncey/Rip/Ben/etc run, but then Lebron slayed them and they never came back.

Yea. I think they've a pretty bright future. Lots of young talent there.
