2015 NBA Thread: I felt a great disturbance in the trolls, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. (2 Viewers)

It honestly frightens me as a Warriors fan when someone like Bruce says that the Warriors have no chance to lose game 7.

Don't rule out Durant joining the Warriors next year. The dubs have shown interest in obtaining him.

They would presumably let Barnes and Festus leave via FA to join Luke in LA.

It's already been decided that he'll be their 3rd or 4th guy off the bench next year. That's why he is throwing the series.

GSW is going to win Monday and take the series just like we all expected.  Maybe then we can focus on the important things, like how lucky GSW got not having to face SAS in the playoffs and drawing a perennial choker like LeBron in the Finals.
You forgot about not facing the Clippers.

Really rubbing salt in the womb here. :shakeshead:
Oh yeah, we never got down to the bottom of those reports that Darrell Arthur didn't really graduate from high school.

Sasha Kaun played 95 regular-season minutes for CLE but hasn't dressed for the playoffs.  Not sure if that's enough to qualify for a ring, but he would be the third player from 2008 KU to get one.  I'll admit it - Kaun would have been like my 7th pick from that roster to win an NBA title.  Too bad his hopes are tied to a choker like LeBron.

Rose basically beat a ucla team with four legit NBA players all by himself.
Pretty much.  It's crazy that CDR was a consensus first-team All-American when he wasn't close to the best guard on his own team.  Likewise Darren Collison got some AA nods while Westbrook barely made third-team all-Pac10.

CDR played well in that semifinal, but it was Rose setting him up.  Darren Collison was a ghost.  As great as Memphis was all season, UCLA's talent and ability to control the pace worried me more than Memphis did.

Game 6 actually reminds me of the 04 Pistons. Very few people gave them a chance to beat the Nets in game 6 after losing a triple OT game at home in game 5. After the Pistons won in game 6 they destroyed the Nets at home in game 7.

Ros > Sage imo.

I think GS is going to shell out and keep Ezeli. Bogut's obviously getting up there, and has one year left, it might be best to bite the bullet now before salaries really get out of hand. They've been lucky in that they've been able to lock up Thompson and Green for what's going to seem like a pittance after this off-season.

I would put the chances of Durant to GS at around 2-3%. I think Barnes is probably the odds-on favorite, with Batum being second, then some sort of trade for somebody else, then Durant. I mean it's worth a tire-kick, but even if OKC loses tmrw, that team isn't a dead-end. And Durant, even newer, chippier Durant, seems like a loyal guy.

Back into my hole. Play nice.

I think Biyambo would be a great fit and would like him over Ezeli. Biyambo even said a guaranteed starting job isn't necessary for him to go some where. He could play the Ezeli role for a year then move into the starting lineup or probably start half the year when Bogut gets hurt.

Heh.  That '82 ECF Game 7 was a nightmare, especially on the heels of the wins in games 5 and 6.  Andrew Toney went all Russell Westbrook on Bird and company.  The Boston Garden crowd kept waiting for the 4th quarter comeback, but instead the Philly lead grew.  It wasn't until there were 2 minutes left when the fans realized they were in denial, that the game was indeed lost.  But the Boston fans did send Philly off with a great, "Beat LA!  Beat LA!" chant.  I wonder if the GSW fans would send off the Thunder in a similar way.

(Philly should have won Game 7 in '81, too, but I think they scored something like 1 point in the final 5 minutes.  Combination of outstanding Celtics D and Philly bad shooting.  Bird is on record saying his Celts could easily have been held to just one ('86) title.)

Outstanding posting.  Taking them in chronological order:

BOS switched up their defense in the fourth quarter of Game 7 in '81.  They sold out everything else to prevent Erving and Dawkins from scoring.  They called it the "helter-skelter": when either Dr. J of Chocolate Thunder got the ball, the two nearest off-ball defenders would rush right at them.  Both were gifted scorers with a variety of moves, but neither were great at passing out of double-teams.

Toney's development over the next year neutralized the helter-skelter, and as you know his performance in that 82 ECF earned him the nickname "The Boston Strangler".

In '82, the less famous chant in the Garden came late in Game 5, when the crowd started chanting "SEE YOU SUNDAY!  SEE YOU SUNDAY!", taunting the Sixers by assuming the Celtics would win Game 6 in Philly and return to the Garden for Sunday's Game 7.  And the Celtics fans showed up confident for Game 7.  Why not?  Same routine as last year, and the Garden's history was full of Game 7 heroics: IIRC, Russell was 10-0 in Game 7s over his career.

I am predicting a blowout.  No idea who will win (70/30 GS?) but it's going to be by 12+ points.
I think that's the most likely outcome tonight. A double-digit win by GS.

Durant has to shoot a better %, and may not be able to take a break tonight. They need somebody else to step up on that bench.

Looking forward to a re-match of Cleveland/GS, with a healthy Irvin/Love this season. May not be enough, but should be an entertaining series.

Today's the day Operation Thunderclap comes to fruition. I'll be surprised if OKC covers +7 but crazier things have happened.

Crazy things are not happening today.
Looked up some historical trends.  If they are a good indication for home teams favored by as much as GS tonight, you should be right.

:crossesfingers:

He was certainly on fire.

But neither team played much defense. If Durant just makes a few of those open looks he had all night, OKC wins easily.

While Golden State should be favored at home, they are being out hustled in this series and that included game 6. My impression is that OKC is fighting for and winning the vast majority of loose rebounds, the "50/50 balls" that every coach says is the key to success. If they can do that in Game 7 they have a very decent shot to win no matter how well GS shoots. Durant won't be cold forever.
stick to your Hildabeast thread.

Golden State is going to cover, and it's going to be pretty easy imo. Thunder guys were gassed at the end of game 6. I think it will be pretty much a done deal by half
