2015 NBA Thread: I felt a great disturbance in the trolls, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. (2 Viewers)

Congrats to @Bobcat10 , @MAC_32 , and all the other Cavs fans who hang out here. I'm sure I forgot a few people. I'm really happy for you guys.  Enjoy the next few days and that parade.

As for the rest of you ...

me: "wow, what a game. i'm kind of curious to watch some of this post-game. wonder which talking heads they'll roll ou..... Stephen A *click* "
Man same exact thing. The other 3 guys on the set didn't even get to talk.

ESPN has a crew all year with Jalen and another dude on the post game with Sage and I didn't see them at all these past two rounds. They were alright. Weird how they just punted them into orbit.

Only the ring counters would still have Kobe and Duncan ranked above Lebron.  Those two are all time greats but never dominated the whole game like Lebron.  Lebron has more MVP awards than those 2 combined.

Skip Bayless, Daywalker... who else is making a fool out of themselves this morning?  Gotta be some incredible taeks out there, no?
Skip is trying to go out with a bang, somhopefully someone remembers him when he leaves ESPN.  That or he truly believes the trash coming out of his mouth.  Either way hopefully he just fades away.

Great game.  Congrats Cleveland fans!  well deserved.  Irving was an assassin and the Cavs' defense was smothering (probably the real story here).. and that block.  Awesome.

I don't think there's anything wrong with using rings to break near ties at the very very top...

Michael and Kareem over Lebron and Wilt for example.  And if you want to have Magic and Russell in the first pairing more power to you.  But after that I don't think it makes much sense.

by this logic, fast forward 30 years and is Lebron just a guy because of the competition he was beating?
If the game advances as much as it has in the past 30-50 years, then I would definitely rank the newer players above Lebron.  Assuming the new players are dominating their peers in a similar way (MVP awards, championships, etc)

one of the knocks on Lebron was that he didn't have that killer instinct of a Jordan. he never broke anyone on his way to the title.

looks to me like he put that argument to rest, too. he snuffed Curry in these Finals. he was shaky, unsure, lost his shot, couldn't come up even medium when the team needed him.

the blocks Lebron put on him were ####### savage. trash talking him in Game 7 was the nail in the coffin. Curry had nothing to say. he needed to have someone come in to protect him.

you can see the exact moment when Curry's heart broke in half  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tFDsL_mwBY

Kareem???? Come on.

6 straight title appearances.  Two with the worst team in the league prior to his arrival (and a team that fell apart after he left).  Any argument about anyone but Magic, Jordan, or Bill Russell being ahead of him all time is just silly.

Thank you sir!  Crazy night and a great morning here in Cleveland.  I think alot of people are going to need to restock their 4th of July fireworks in my 'hood.

God they are going to sell SO MUCH merchandise in Cleveland.
Bars ran out of alcohol last night.

All of the ####'s stores in the area stayed open late to sell championship merch, at least 2 of them had to close their doors within an hour because there were too many people in the store.

There was a line out the door to the team shop when I finally went to sleep last night.  Woke up this morning?  Same thing.

I don't know exactly when they shut down all transportation to downtown last night, but I think it was before the game started.  Incoming traffic didn't open until like 4 am.

I can only imagine what the airport is going to look like when all those Vegas sloshed Cavs arrive in 2 hours.

It's amazing watching legitimate media people (deservedly) bashing Bayless for his takes but not before RTing him first. Can't they all just collectively agree to hit the unfollow button? It's not like DOJ is gonna come in and claim antitrust issues.

Fast break points last night 18-7 in favor of Cle.

Game 7 was the first game in the series where the total foul differential between the teams was greater than 2.  And wow, Curry whistled for 25 personal fouls in the series.  Only JR had more with 27.

Was floored when I heard GS hadn't lost 3 games in a row since 2013.  I'm sure that was posted here but I don't remember reading it.

But seriously what a great season. I'm going to let the dust settle and I'll be back on Wednesday or Thursday to talk draft with you fellas.

Thanks to all the regulars that hung out this season to watch with me. I had fun.

SWC> one love, brother.

Three titles is a long way from 5+ titles.

When Lebron takes an outside shot you are surprised when it goes in.  He's great.  But let's not over do it just because we saw a great series.  Shaq ####s on these Lebron performances.

3 is not 5.

3 is not 6.

Calm down everyone.
:lmao:

Kareem???? Come on.
Ok, you made me wonder if I was out to lunch on this one.  My take on this was based on some stuff I looked up last year to get a handle on Kobe (so overrated).  Can't link it, but it was basically Win Shares/48 on one axis and total Win Shares on the other -- so a combination of volume and efficiency.

IIRC I had it Michael, Kareem and Wilt as your basic choices for GOAT -- with Lebron getting into the picture if the rest of his career arc went as you'd expect it too (which after two more seasons/Finals it is/has).

Anyhow, I was ready to believe I'd whiffed based on your reaction, but...

ESPN (earlier this year)
Nos. 1-5: 1. Jordan | 2. Kareem | 3. LeBron | 4. Magic | 5. Wilt
Nos. 6-10: 6. Bird | 7. Russell | 8. Duncan | 9. Shaq | 10. Hakeem

Dallas Morning News
3 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
2 Michael Jordan
1 Wilt Chamberlain

I think you can argue that the guys who played on great teams may have sacrificed some personal stats for the good of the team (esp Magic and Russell), so if you want to bump them it's defensible, but I really don't think I'm crazy with:  Michael, Kareem, Lebron, Wilt, Magic, Russell

Nobody in San Diego possibly cares that much.  "Tough loss, oh well, time for another perfect 75 degree day at Coronado Beach!"
Agreed, I think it's Buffalo.  SD just on the numbers is still close.

Amazing to think if the Cavs lost last night it would have been the 150th consecutive sports season without a title for Cleveland.  Buffalo is the only other city over 100 right now (edit: actually SD is too, but still), and they have the "tough" losses to go with it.
