WWHD?*

What would Hinkie do?  Would have have moved Okafor/Noel last year for maybe more assets once they got the number one pick and it was obvious that Embiid was going to play?

Eskin is going to be tripping over himself in an effort to backpedal from the "HINKIE SUCKS BECAUSE HE TANKED AND THE COANGELOS ARE GREAT BECAUSE THEY DON'T" position he was taking for most of the winter.

Does this mean Okafor stays or might they trade him too?
No bearing IMO. Okafor's terrible next to Embiid too. Saric/Simmons have positional flexibility. Can throw at the 5 in a pinch. Go with that and get what you can for Okafor. (Which is probably 2nd half of 1st round pick like they did with Noel in Justin Anderson). I think that's what they're getting now.....and probably what it is if they don't make deal til draft. His value isn't going to increase.

Yea I can't really understand the top 18 protected for this draft when the Mavs are sitting at 7th worst right now.  You might as well ask for a magical unicorn too in the deal.  Cause you have just as much chance of getting that.

Did I mention I have no faith in Collangelo?  I think I've stated that somewhere before.

If Ainge doesn't get any of the three superstars that were on the trade market (and he very well could have added Cousins + George/Butler), Boston fans should riot. There's a better chance the Nets picks end up at #4 than #1 and they end up with two Jaylen Brown types who don't move the needle.
I have no interest in the Celts getting Butler...IT, Butler and Horford win you nothing.  I wouldn't mind George for the #1 pick but wouldn't want to see Crawford going to Indy in that deal.

celts aren't winning it this season and they can always revisit George or Butler after the season. Personally, I would rather they trade Thomas, keep the Nets picks and build for 3-4 years down the road.

The Raptors have reportedly made it a "priority" to trade for either Tyson Chandler or P.J. Tucker, according to Jordan Schultz of the Huffington Post.
Toronto has been tied to Tucker for a while now, but they might not want to give up a conditional first-round pick to get him. There hasn't been much interest in Chandler around the league, probably because the 34-year-old center is owed a guaranteed $26.6 million over the next two seasons, so the Raptors might be able to obtain him for a pittance. Alex Len is a nice stash in the event that Chandler does leave Phoenix.

If the rumor is true that it converts to 2 seconds, this trade will be dreadful. Unless they had info (Noel was definitely leaving, whatever), this is inexcusable. I would rather see him leave in free agency with nothing in return then settle for 2 2nd round picks.

Any good will the franchise was starting to get will leave quick if Simmons doesn't play this year and embiid is significantly limited. More likely I can see it go the other way. If okafor is the starting center for the rest of the year I would anticipate boo's galore

The point is Ainge could have pushed all his chips in and ended up with something like IT, Smart, Butler, Horford, Cousins.  That's a core that can take Cleveland and gives GS some matchup problems.  But keep wanting to build for 3-4 years down the line when Horford is done, IT is past his prime, etc.

I own Saric and Noel on my fantasy team.  Couldn't have asked for a better trade deadline

Thank you Colangelos!

Hearing rumblings that George to the Celtics for Avery Bradley and the Nets '17 pick will happen in some form today.  Salaries don't match up so there must be another piece or two involved.

Noel is an RFA though, no?  So they still had plenty of control over the situation.   Not sure why they needed to panic other than because of the PR nightmare that has been their C logjam.

I don't think I could come up with a player that makes less sense than Chandler. Tucker, yes. Credibility completely lost when you talk Chandler to the Raptors.

Which wasn't really a nightmare at all because all the fans were onboard with the Process.  They created this nightmare by listening to what national pundits thought of them.

Yeah, I would have liked them to roll the dice on Cousins without including one of the Brooklyn picks but their best player and coach were against it.  Horford was a mistake in retrospect and I would rather they trade IT than sign him to a $200M deal.

If they trade the 2017 Nets pick, Bradley and salary filler for George I'm happy but I won't be disappointed if they stand pat.

Ugh. Really McDermott for that?

Andre Roberson could be headed to Chicago in a potential Doug McDermott and Cameron Payne trade, according to Frank Isola of The Daily News.
OKC is trying to find out how much it will cost to re-sign Roberson, as well. This trade sounds like it's going down and Andre Roberson was giving hugs to his teammates in practice. The Bulls could be very busy with more deals coming, but Roberson isn't going to be much more than a defender anyway.

Doug McDermott - F - Bulls

According to Frank Isola of the NY Daily News, the Thunder are nearing a deal to acquire Doug McDermott.
The proposed deal would likely include Andre Roberson and Cameron Payne from the Thunder, so McDermott could potentially be the starting small forward in OKC. If you have a roster spot and need 3-pointers, McDermott is now firmly on the radar as a pickup. He's averaging 1.3 triples in 24.5 minutes per game for the Bulls.

Cameron Payne - G - Thunder

The Bulls have some interest in Cameron Payne, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
As mentioned earlier today, the Thunder are interested in Taj Gibson and Doug McDermott. Multiple reports say the Bulls have been burning up the phones and should be making some sort of deal. Payne would actually have a shot to start in Chicago, but he's only a stash in very deep leagues for now.

Any Celtics fan should be, that is cheap for George.

It seems like every time there is a monster trade a few day before the deadline that  there is very little to happen on the deadline  doesn't matter what sport.

If Pacers had a "monster" offer from Denver or the Nets' #1 from Boston, they're stupid for not trading him. With George's agent making sure the whole league knows that George is going to LA in 2018, he has no value for the Pacers long-term. I don't think he's worth the $200M+ they seem to want to offer him this summer anyway. That deal would be an albatross for them.

I'm hoping that the media is behind and the Sixers made another deal. If not I would give the Ilyasova trade a B, and the Noel trade a D, probably D-.  Hoping that news will come out as we go forward that makes more sense for that Noel trade.

McBuckets and Taj are a good haul for OKC.
Didn't mind dealing Taj, but shooters like Buckets a lot harder to find than what Cameron Payne brings to the table. He's going to be playing off the ball a lot.. Chicago is absolutely clueless when it comes to PGs.

Exactly.  What Chicago definitely needed was LESS spacing.
