2016 Ryder Cup - Hazeltine (1 Viewer)

Decathlete, I think. Dave vs. Dan in 1992? Or am I just that old.
I think the Olympic Dave Johnson won the bronze in the Decathlon in 1992.  He is 53 now.  This guy didn't look that old.

But really, either way, that's quite a putt in front of all those people with Justin Rose's $100 bucks laying there.  Truth is, if he hadn't hit the cup it would have gone past at 8-10 feet.  It was moving.
Right name, wrong guy. I just was going with what I heard on Golf Channel.

Don't care at all for Mickelson/Fowler in the 2nd group in alternate shot. Mickelson is way too wild in a match  the USA could really use to establish early momentum. Would have much rather had some more steady players there such as Moore and/or Koepka instead of Phil. Smells to me like Love just deferred to Phil and while I hope I'm wrong, I think it could turn out to be a bad move. Mickelson has a terrible record in alternate shot.

Man, just found out that 3 of my friends are going.  One has room at a house he rented + access to the Wells Fargo tents.  I was supposed to arrive in MN on Monday and go to the MNF game, but I may be headed out tomorrow night for a 3 day binge!

When did they go to alternate shot in the morning on Friday? Or am I just remembering incorrectly? That's a tough way to start.

Anybody going on the Fri/Sat/Sun is going to want to buy a radio in the Merchandise Shop for $15. It's a cheap closed circuit radio with three stations - Network feed, BBC or Sirius.
An absolute must IMO. Bought one of these for the RC in Valhalla and it was well worth the $. Keeps you up to date on what's going on in all the matches.

There's a cure for aids but not lock jaw? WTF making Fowler put that?

Euro's pissing me off already

Standing at hole 4. Beautiful course. Big crowds.

Euros know how to chant way better than us. More practice I guess.

I remember going to some golf tournament several years ago and there was an astounding number of spectators wearing golf shoes.  Is that still a thing?

A few people still do. Still don't get it. Do they think they might be asked to hit a shot for somebody?

Just like clockwork - Phil goes off the rails at a Ryder Cup. This time he is paired with a real trainwreck in Rickie Fowler - hope they handed out hard hats to the patrons following these two

Seriously, what is Mickelson doing in alternate shot?
No sh-----t. I agree. He's waaaaay too wild for that format. I'm sure he lobbied Love to put him out there and Love gave in out of respect. It 's that kind of deference that speaks to why we lose time and again.

I was more shocked at Zach Johnson in alternate shot knowing your taking his tee shot on 9 holes.  T170th in driving distance.  Yes, he'll get two par 3's, but that surprised me because of how long Hazeltine is set up.

On hole 12 grandstand. No wind yet today like practice rounds. Cool but comfortable in shorts. Should get close to 70 today. Gorgeous.

The video boards are going to a lame scoreboard rather than continuous coverage when the network goes to a break. Need to switch the radio over to BBC but no video.  :wall:

As usual the PGA way oversold this thing. They may need to expand the team to get more groups out here and sell 15,000 less tickets. #pgagreed

Sure, but Zach's going to be in the fairway and Jimmy Walker can land a five iron like most people's nine irons.

Fowler/Phil making a comeback and then Phil shanks one like a 20 handicap to the left of the gallery some 30 yards.

Speith and Reed have to get another shot pretty solid for 16 holes. Johnson and Kuchar domination as well.

Will be interesting to see if Love can sit Phil in afternoon. He needs to.

I don't agree. I think it was a mistake rolling him out in the morning on alternate shot but he should be out there for the afternoon Fourball. Phil is up and down. You put him with a steady partner for those holes when Phil blows up and then reap the reward on his birdies.

Spot secured in First hole bleachers for afternoon round!
Bleachers at tee box or at the green? I haven't seen TV coverage so I'm not sure of the layout but the times I've gone I always like to stake out a spot on the green, watch all four matches come thru and then run up to the lead group again at another green. Rinse and repeat.
