2016 Ryder Cup - Hazeltine (1 Viewer)

Well full day out there. Arrived about 9:30. Watched 11/12 a bit in AM. Sat in grandstands on 1 for all afternoon matches, went to 8 (par 3) then 15. Too bad all afternoon matches were so lopsided. Holmes choked on 15/16. Fatted a wedge from 70 yds on 15 then drove left in the trees on 16, punch out, hit another 75 yd wedge short.

Lots of fun. Atmosphere is electric. But...with 4 matches live at one time there's hardly any actual golf being played. Tough to see a lot.

was there today as well...only 4 groups on the course makes it extremely difficult. You basically have to go several holes ahead of the lead group to get a halfway decent spot. We started on #7, then hit #10, then went all the way to #15. #15 is a good hole to watch because you can see from both sides, and the green is down a little from the fairway so you can see from further back if needed. Left around the middle of the afternoon round; looks like I didn't miss much. Really hope they can pull it out.

DC anchoring his rooks that didn't play today to two studs.  We may very well get a real good idea to how this will all end tomorrow morning.

Why wasn't Paul Casey eligible?  Didn't play any Euro Tour, for two years?  He was playing great golf down the stretch stateside.

I don't miss Duibuisson, or whatever his name was, from '14.

He has confidence in his young guys clearly...but ours are better...but their vet anchors are better. No DJ.

Not having Bubba was a mistake.

I hear getting the radio helps + watching the big screens.  I honestly don't expect to see much after seeing 10-15 deep on the greens for practice rounds.  But the roars and energy should be electric all weekend.  I hope so.  Looking for an on course viewing strategy if anyone has one. Holes, groups, etc.

14-15 is a good spot. On 15 go around the back of the green on the other side of the pond. You can see the approaches and the chips/putts.

8 is a good par 3 where much of the gallery is higher than the hole.

7 is a dogleg right par 4 with water along the whole right side. The left side is elevated and you can watch the tee shots and the approaches if you get up along the ropes right at the dogleg (underneath the pine trees above the rough).

Don't get Mickelson/Fowler over DJ this morning unless he asked for a round off.  Phil's game just isn't good.

After trying to follow along on the course for the morning session, I got a seat in the first tee seating - which ended up being the way to go.

If people bail from that section (its not reserved) and you can get one, then if you want to get back out again they'll give you a ticket that will get you back in within a 30 minute window. Enough time to get some food & beverage.

I would guess it's the same in the other seating areas.

Back at it today. Coming in now as opposed to very early yesterday.

After watching a lot of good golf yesterday, as we were walking toward the pavilions on the way in saw the last few groups on 16. DJ in the water made it tough for Kuch.

Rory pours in the eagle. Real fun. All the Euros were singing Ole of course. I jumped into a group and started singing 5-3 5-3 5-3 5-3...5-3 5-3. Shut that down pretty quick and their voices were tired lol. I may have been on camera for a few seconds as that squad of singers had a cameraman on them soon after Rory's putt.

Thought the way out would be brutal. Turned out to be the quickest exit of the week. Walked right on a bus.

I thing someone mentioned limited security gates. That's not true at Canterbury. There are about 25 at one spot by the tarred lots and 3 for a grass lot. Pretty smooth but the super early time is orderly but sucks.

Have fun out there today everyone! Perfect conditions.

They just had a shot of the 17th now on TV & holy smokes is it crowded! I'd like to see attendance for previous Ryder Cups but I know when I went in 91 at Kiawah there weren't that many & it's likely more that 08 at Valhalla as well. Fantastic event but I think they need to scale it back a bit.

Thank you Reed. A half point still sucks given the blown lead but a whole point would have been disastrous.

Fowler is the weak spot out there.  I also don't get why DJ wasn't out there this morning.  They sure won't rest Rory, Serg, Stenson or Rose.

Can I start a chant for Sergio?

"Zero Majors! Clap, clap, clap clap clap"

Or is that uncool?
They commented earlier about how some Americans were chirping at Garcia this morning for not winning any majors.  Maybe they should leave Sergio alone.  That guy is an assassin at the Ryder Cup.

Damn Spieth's putt on 17 omg how did that not go in? Oh well gotta put it behind you and be happy to still be leading 6-1/2 to 5-1/2.

I'm on 15th green grandstand in the top row with actual seats, not bleachers. Another killer spot just like yesterday on 12.

They could've used more videoboards so these are coveted spots, especially with a signature hole. A lot of great holes have no VB so you only have the radio until the groups come through.

From the back row at 15 I can see 4 tee and green and the 16 tee is just to our right as they bomb their drives right to left.

I'll post some photos from the tournament at a later time. Some decent WAG shots and more.

FWI.. for the younger FBG guys good write up on the 91 "War by the Shore." The Ryder Cup has always been a great event but 91 is thought as being the one that escalated the event to the current fever pitch.

Great memories not only because of the event but quality time with my Dad.

The closing of the Jim Grey piece on Arnie was gold.

paraphrasing....

No rain in the forecast, but somehow, all of these umbrellas seem right.

Europe has to be fired up with that half point, could end up being the match everyone points to when all is said and done depending on how things shake out.

It is going to be really interesting to see the single pairings, both Captains with a lot to ponder.

That would have so huge if Sergio had choked on that one. Not just for the half point but for his negative psyche if he's over another putt later on.

Regarding comments I've heard from Rory about fan abuse, I believe that's a false narrative, although Rory is sure using it for personal motivation because he was on a mission this morning.

I heard about a fan yelling before Bello putted, then he backed off and nailed it...that guy got booed. Yes the fans are cheering misses, but the crowds are so huge, way oversold, and with the partisanship, that it's really unavoidable. Fans have been excellent and we met some cool people from all over.

I expect the pin on 15 to be moved to our left (short) some as it was on the back earlier.

I posted a CBS link earlier where the author said he'd pay any amount of money to see McIlroy vs D Johnson in the last foursome on Sunday. That would certainly be awesome but for my money I'd love to see Rory vs either Spieth or Reed.

I like Reed as the anchor TBH
