This is a little disingenuous.  Nobody who says the Warriors have "ruined the NBA" or some variation thereof is suggesting that it's going to negatively impact the ratings for Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals featuring said Warriors. I think everyone knows superteams are good for drawing casual viewers.

 
Anyway, the league is obviously fine. The Warriors negatively affect my personal enjoyment of it, but so do lots of other things and I still love it. 

And maybe the best way to gauge the health of the NBA is by observing that there aren't a bunch of other NBA fans with inferiority complexes who feel the need to talk #### about other sports in this thread, or anywhere really.

Harden traveled on the third foul called on Klay.  He does this quite often actually, but it's never called.  Watch his feet in slow motion.  The missed call meant the refs gifted Houston three points since he made the shot and Klay then basically had to sit the entire first half.  I guarantee that missed call was worth at least the 10 points you are talking about. :shrug:

IT was damaged goods prior to the trade, him being hurt and uncertain regarding when & how he would play coming off the injury was factored into the price of the deal.

 
I mean, if you're Cleveland you have to think about playing dirty / thugish in this game, right? You're going to lose at least one game. Maybe knock Curry on his ### if he keeps lobbing up 3s. Give him the temporary fear that he's going to get punished if he takes a 3. I bet we see Zaza Pachulia play for just that reason.

Every team needs a good goon.

If GS goes up 2-0, there wont be a bet to hedge.  They will probably just take off the series price options.  

I think even if Cleveland wins game 1 they will still be like +300 or so.

My complaint is the quality of basketball. The Warriors being the best Q3 team essentially means that the Warriors barely try in the first half, then turn it on in the 3rd Quarter and hopefully have their starters rest in the 4th. The proof is in the statistics. They are way too dominate.

If I wanted to watch the Globetrotters, I would watch the Globetrotters.

Every player in the league would be injured if that's not going to be called a foul.  Yes, that was a foul.  Did he flop a little?  Yeah probably.  Both can occur at the same time. He flopped after he was fouled.

I'll bet Christian Laettner could have been a better fit in the current NBA than he was in that generation.  He could have been a good 3-point shooter if they'd encourage that.  82% free-throw shooters these days are all good from 3.

I barely even watch the Warriors (more because they games start so late then the reasons you say) and I find the league incredibly entertaining and the quality of play better than ever.

Absolutely.  If they want to win, they have to go with some serious streetball and starting some ####.  This is where some of those other guys need to come into play with some hard fouls.  The Cavs do have like 3 halfway competent players on the bench who have barely played in these playoffs (Osman, Hood, Calderon).  They are kinda pansies, but they can still make some hard fouls.  

Kendrick Perkins still on the roster.............just sayin.  

Play up in their grill on the three point line, make them drive, and hammer the first 10 drives to the hoop.  Change up the starting lineup and make sure at least one of those scrubs is on the court at all times during the first half.

And hell, foul em TWICE every play, the guy helping followed by the guy guarding him who happens to also run into the guy driving.  It really is the only way.

Well, he hops after completing his pickup and initial jump stop, so yes, it is a travel.  Whether or not he established a pivot foot is debatable, but he ends up moving both feet again, so I'd say it is a travel.  At best, he doesn't complete his pickup of the ball before starting his second step, but his left foot would then be the pivot foot and he clearly picks it up and resets it prior to shooting, which would be a travel as well.

76ers now the slight favorite to land LeBron according to one book.  The Warriors should still be favored over them, but it would be an interesting line. 

Rockets are the only team + LeBron that would be favored over Warriors.

The East being better doesn't change the other Cavs.  They don't need to be great, but 2-3 of them need to have quality games at the same time 4 times in the next 2+ weeks.  They've not been doing that.

The NBA rule is different than the NCAA/NFHS.  He travels a lot on his step backs but this one in particular is a clean move.

Agree that a flop and foul can occur on the same play. Didn't see that as a clear cut foul.  Happy to disagree.

You went a notch too far, but I think you're on the right path.  This was the strategy in 15 when LeBron was playing with JR, Tristan, Delly, Mozgov, Shump, and the ghost of James Jones.  Got that series to 2-1 and were hanging around into the 4th quarter of game 4.  No Durant though.

 
Sorry for intervening in thread but I was pretty pissed watching the Rockets chuck up quick 3 after 3 with a lead. Probably would have lost anyway but that was just dumb.

I dont know why you think it's ok to compromise a jump shooter like that, and it IS a foul to slide under their legs once they jump.

Now if the shooter jumps forward into them thats a different story.

I saw a defender standing there, barely moving, and an offensive player trying to sell a foul that didn't clearly occur.  This wasn't like Zaza moving under K Leonard and invading his space by a 2-4 foot margin.  IMO he barely, if at all, invaded Harden's space.  Harden had room to land - he just chose to act like he didn't.

That's just my take.

Edit to add:  if the "wisdom of crowds" disagrees, that's cool.  I'm more bothered by the CP3 injury and  how that impacted the series.....than I am by micro-missed-calls in a series where each side could point out 10-15 places where their team was "egregiously wronged."

The feet pretty much always come forward but the shooter is entitled to land as long as the shot wasn't blocked or partially blocked and does not land on a space that was already established defensively.

yeah you are definitely right. will be a fun series though with the Sixers if they get more experience and can get over some of the mistakes that plagued them in the Celtics series. they showed that growth over the regular season (couldn't hold a lead to save their lives and turned that around).

and I keep hearing about the Rockets and Lebron, and have seen articles describing how they can do it, but I just can not see it happening. No way they can unload Gordon and Anderson that easy to get some more cap space, and they can't offer much incentive with those trades. Rumour with the Sixers trying to unload Jerrod Baylis' $8.5 million last year contract is they may need to add a late 1st. I won't put anything past NBA GMs, but Houston will have to do too many things in a short window of time to free up the space needed. And with how much they may need to sacrifice it might not even be worth it.

Will be a fun last week of June, first week of July. I think the Sixers owners and Colangelo know they need a big chip to help this team. Some of the arguments against bringing in Lebron are funny too. One of the big things is bringing in Lebron will stunt Ben's growth. If anything it would help him develop more off the ball (cutting, etc.), and I am sure they would share the responisibility. And even if Lebron is here for 3 years, by the time he leaves Ben would only be 25 years old.

That's interesting. It looks like a clear travel to me but one that would be really hard to spot without a replay. How is the rule different?

The pivot is established as the next foot to come down after the pick up.  It is referred to as a gather step.  FIBA just adopted it last season so I had to start teaching it.  FIBA refers to it as a null step.  You teach shooters to catch/gather on one and shoot on two if that makes any sense.

Yeah, my initial reaction was that he picks up his right foot which is his pivot.  I'm reading up on it and it seems the interpretation comes down to how the NBA considers gathering the ball.
