I would laugh if they didn't draft Ball, signed James, and then told Lavar he ruined his son's opportunity to play for this dream hometown team with one of the greatest ever because he couldn't keep his mouth shut.

Howard Eskin basically repeated what I said about the Blame/credit game I posted last night. I know he hates the Sixers org right now but he's absolutely right. Honestly I don't think Hinkie is as good as many claim. He got lucky on the MCW trade as well as the fact the Kings are run by Jesters (pun intended) on that. He then drafted 3 Cs two who didn't play their first year. Rumblings from UK forums I read was Hinkie and the team had gotten the go from team Drs for Noel to be back Late Jan-Early Feb but Hinkie didn't want Noel playing and possible messing up pin ball chances. I don't the Hnkie wanted Porzingis. I think thats more or less someone trying defend Hinkie's poor decision making. I don't think Hinkie would've moved Okafor plus I also don't think he'd have pulled off this current trade BC did. Hinkie has a holding problem when it comes to draft picks. He knows how to acquire assets but never knew how to properly use them and turn them into anything other then assets. BC knows how to do that and he was credited for the foundation of the current Tor squad. There's no question the Sixers are better off now then before Hinkie. SVG has made a lot of good moves - Tobias Harris, Ish Smith, I still think Reggie Jackson will be if he gets back to 100%. The problem though is he got 2 big ones wrong.
One was drafting Stanley Johnson over Devin Booker - supposedly the front office was deadlocked between those two. The other was maxing out Drummond. I'm not sure whether to blame president SVG for the contract or coach SVG for his regression as a player, but either way its his fault the Pistons are in a bind there.
The way Curry lacks athleticism? His lack of athleticism is overstated, and he has good size and reach. Not that steals are the sign of a good defender, but his per-36 last season was 1.7 steals.

Hence why there's no guarantees tanking. There was a great study I believe Uconn did where they said tanking draft picks in the NBA aren't as impactful as people think. TTLTR summary was Well run organizations who make the best moves trades, signings and draftings will automatically get better after having a high pick. Horrible run organizations no matter who they draft will always be bad do to the other issues plaguing them. You can argue the above as the point sure but it was never a guarantee they were gonna get that plus you never know how these guys turn out. The NBA and NCAA and America overall is horrrible at overall development of players in the sport. There's the great players then everyone else which isn't really great. Theres no in between meats separating that top tier and the very bottom and if there is it's very thin.Thunderlips said:

It's interesting we are back to the era where expiring contracts are very valuable.
Can't believe the Lakers tanked an entire season only to sign Mozgov/Deng and instanly waste it all.
Would have been nice if the Lakers could have shed Deng too. Russell, Moz and Deng for Lopez and Lin.

:X that is a gross return for Indiana. Celtics can offer way more without giving up too much. i think Lakers are just trying to get in the news to sell tickets and make fans think they are noteworthy.

You can blame all the titles they've gotten recently. It's made a lot of people in that city dislussional. I feel bad as well for guys like @Boston and other legit Celtics fans. My cousin who works for Lockheed Martin (Their HQ up there is less then 3 miles from Aaron Hernandez old house) live about 5 min drive from Gillete Stadium. He had to move out of the area (He did find something much closer to work) but one of the main reasons was he couldn't stand the over the top Patriot fans there. He said it became unbearable especially during football season. Basically wouldn't come out of the house on Sun. Again this isn't lumping the legit fans in there but they have seem to have a lot of fans out there. For the Sixers fans I just don't like or get some of the blind faith some have. I think these days college ball is way more popular in the city then the actual Sixers. It's not a huge fan base as compared to back in the day. I just really hate the over the top blind faith comments I read and see on social media and the Facebook pages of the local philly sports sites. I question if some of these people really understand basketball or not. I will say the trade deadline was entertaining watching people suggest offers for the Butlers and George's of the world that only works in your NBA2K game with trade overrides on and no cap (not sure if that last option is even possible)

Two good young players and two 1st round picks in a loaded draft isn't a bad return, especially considering Indy's leverage. The Celtics would be crazy to give up that much for a 1 year rental of a player who doesn't want to be there.

Great trade for both teams and puts Bos in a spot to not really go after Butler. LA clears more space for George/James and Nets got better which doesn't help Bos in both cases. I forget their coach name but the Nets HC I've read should be really good for Russel's development.

James is gonna set Ball straight. In fact I'm surprised MJ has done anything about this idiot (Lavar) trashing him and other's image. Lavar is nothing more then a washed up never was who is now living his life through his kids. He's that parent on the baseball field you are yelling to Shut The F up because he's always yelling at a coach, official or another kid and bragging how his kid is better then anyone on the field. I really don't get how parents like Lavar get through these leagues without having their ##### handed to them.

i think that is the whole question. if it is accurate and true, then yeah it seems Pacers are really limited and need to take what they can get. But in all honesty, does George really say he only wants to play for Lakers and that is it? I have to think he is more open then that, Lakers don't exactly have a championship team foundation at this point

1) LBJ has a home in LA. He sold the one in Miami and has one in Cleveland.
2) Magic Johnson business mogul and NBA player. Someone LBJ is compared to as similar players and can learn from for life after basketball.
3) Jalen Rose - on record that LBJ will go to Lakers. This is a guy who is tight with Magic Johnson (Detroit PGs) and people in LBJs camp. So he's probably getting 1st, maybe 2nd hand intel.
A Lakers team with PG13 and LBJ surrounded by young players with upside in Ball (?), Ingram, Clarkson/Randle is a legit threat.

That's all they could get for Russell. Pathetic. The Lakers are going to get stuck holding their dorks in their hands with the 27th and 28th picks - and Deng still on the team. How the #### was he not the contract that was dumped in this giveaway?

I don't think Indy has a choice. They are already in tough negotiations spot as PG has said he'd only resign with the Lakers. So teams won't offer fair value for him. Lakers are in a good spot in negotiating. I'd push for a little more if I'm Indy but not much more.

Because Butler is far better then just straight up for #3. Due might be the best 2 way player at his position not Named Leonard. Leonard is better Offensively but both are great defensively. James has even put a lot of praise on Butler saying he's the toughest guy he plays against defensively and offensively because of how relentless Jimmy is. I find it funny that Boston wouldn't give up the Nets pick at the deadline but would give up the #3 pick now.

I don't really want him, but hard to say no to the best player in the league. Of course, I doubt a 34-year-old LeBron who has made his career on being stronger and more athletic than everyone else will be the best player in the league. That's my problem with giving up on a young talent who I think is ready to make a leap for the chance you might get a 34-year-old LeBron in two years.

I mean, great, you're clearing cap space at the cost of the few young players you had that could do much. Where does that get you if no one wants to play here even with all the money now that you don't have a supporting cast? Because it sounds like they're stripping down to Ball, Ingram and the ghost of Dancin' Barry here. Maybe George is beating down the door to get here even so - but who else?

Yeah, I still think the Lakers made the right pick with Russell. I think he will be better than Porzingis and Booker. But by trading him now for this, you've made him the wrong pick because you certainly wouldn't trade either of those for a salary dump. Guess it doesn't matter to the new regime.
