Man I would love to have been in the room with the Atlanta front office while they tried to keep a straight face and seem disinterested.

Howard Eskin basically repeated what I said about the Blame/credit game I posted last night. I know he hates the Sixers org right now but he's absolutely right. Honestly I don't think Hinkie is as good as many claim. He got lucky on the MCW trade as well as the fact the Kings are run by Jesters (pun intended) on that. He then drafted 3 Cs two who didn't play their first year. Rumblings from UK forums I read was Hinkie and the team had gotten the go from team Drs for Noel to be back Late Jan-Early Feb but Hinkie didn't want Noel playing and possible messing up pin ball chances. I don't the Hnkie wanted Porzingis. I think thats more or less someone trying defend Hinkie's poor decision making. I don't think Hinkie would've moved Okafor plus I also don't think he'd have pulled off this current trade BC did. Hinkie has a holding problem when it comes to draft picks. He knows how to acquire assets but never knew how to properly use them and turn them into anything other then assets. BC knows how to do that and he was credited for the foundation of the current Tor squad. There's no question the Sixers are better off now then before Hinkie. I just disagree with how the whole thing was accomplished.
I don't really recommend starting any post that way.

I think everyone in here underestimates how impatient these teams are. The Pacers have a lot of time to deal George, and going to get a good return. The Lakers should absolutely go get George if they can for two reasons.

A. A big ole F U to the Celtics or Sixers. Who ever gets their pick this year.

B. Don't let another team give George a reason to change his mind. He could get traded to another team and love it there or that team makes a run and he decides to he wants to stay.

I can't remember a time in the NBA after the finals and before the drafts that was this much fun. #whatatimetobealive

Have a lot of time to deal George to get a good return? They would have gotten the best return if they dealt him a year ago. They've already hurt themselves by waiting.

I do think the Lakers are going to make a deal as long as they don't have to give up No. 2 or Ingram. Most Lakers fans are pissed at this deal, so the Lakers will have to get George to make most of us ok with it (I'll still be pissed). As you mentioned, no pick next year so it would suck for it to end up in the top 5. Also, the All-Star game is in LA next year, and Jeanie already said that it would bother her not to have an all-star in the game. I don't really want to give up Randle right now, but I would put him in with Clarkson, 27 and 28 to get the deal done. I don't think the Pacers should take less than that, and I don't think they'll get more from the Lakers.

Yeah, I still think the Lakers made the right pick with Russell. I think he will be better than Porzingis and Booker. But by trading him now for this, you've made him the wrong pick because you certainly wouldn't trade either of those for a salary dump. Guess it doesn't matter to the new regime.
should have taken Okafor.

You do realize this is wrong. They thought he was going to be there long term and last year was his 1st year back after that brutal injury. He wasn't worth half of what he is worth now.

Philly, Phoenix and San Antonio among teams to contact the Knicks regarding Kristaps Porzingis: source

i dont agree with you.  i have no problem with them trading him, they just got so little for him.  but i guess thats the best they could do.  magic wants to cut cords earlier rather than later.  thats smart.

i can tell you follow the team close and know your stuff but i think you need to take the homer goggles off.  that dude was/is a bust.

hard to say he is a bust at his age. get him good coaching and some support out of a green Ingram then we can judge. he has shown glimpses, just can he put it together consistently.

i wonder if this trade has more to do with the off-court stuff with Russell. i don't think that stuff ever went away and i don't know if there is any leader on that team to help get past stuff like that

Do we have a reason outside of "it's the Knicks", "PJ is insane", or "it's the Knicks" why they're even entertaining the idea of thinking about trading Porzingis?

It's not wrong. George would have guaranteed gotten the Pacers more last offseason than he will this offseason.

As a C's fan I like Russell going to the Nets (and Lopez leaving)...he is one of my least favorite players in the NBA...there's talent there but I just don't like his game or how he carries himself on the court...unless the Nets do some unexpected stuff in free agency they are the preseason favorite for the worst team in the NBA...

Russell is not well regarded around the NBA and had some big time maturity issues. They were talking about him on Zach Lowe's (or maybe Dunc'd on, I forget) podcast saying that members of the coaching staff were bashing him in private and the podcast couldn't think of another young player who had members of the coaching staff discussing a young player like that.

From the outside, it seems like the Lakers might have got out of that Mozgov contract for pretty cheap. Still, it was probably a worthwhile gamble on the Nets part.

Zinger seems to be put off by how Phil handled the Melo situation and how he seems to deal with players in general. Apparently he didn't even ask the team if it was OK to play in his home league during the off season and hasn't communicated with the team since blowing off his exit interview after the season.

That's a lot of words to say it's the Knicks and PJ is insane.

Russell was the best player on the floor for the Lakers the second half of last season, when he averaged 18.5 points, 5 assists and 1.8 steals in just 33 minutes a game. At age 21, when some point guards in the league were still in college. But to me, he passed the eye test. The way he slithered into the middle of the lane, holding defenders at bay, posted up opposing point guards, some of the passes he made, and his improving quick-release shot were all elements you don't see from players his age. And he was doing all this with crap around him. He would have averaged 7-8 assists with competent teammates. Consistency was an issue, but it was with the whole team and often is with young players. Obviously, Lakers leadership didn't share my opinion of him, so maybe I'm wrong. But I don't know why you move him now to clear space so that you might be able to go after a 34-year-old star in two years. See what leap he might be able to make this year rather than dump him for nothing.

Clippers gauging interest on DeAndre Jordan. Looked into trading him to Suns for #4 pick.

Even if Phoenix accepted that deal, they would just lock him in the staples center and not let him leave until the season started. I bet Blake would be be the door guy and be throwing haymakers every where.

You sound like the Tebow lovers here in Denver when they were starting to chase Manning.

Knicks and Nuggets reportedly interested in Kyle Lowry. Bulls apparently interested with Butler and Wade in Lowry's ear trying to get him to Chicago as they'd prefer to play with a PG who could space the floor better then Rondo.

Considering this basketball thread sucks so bad and is such an eyesore and I no longer care about fantasy football I may just delete this forum from my bookmarks and forget about it.
