there are a couple of things the bangos look for in a player one super tall two long arms three being a best of destruction from the planet hellatron who can dunk from the three point line and four having a name that the old swcer can turn in to something awesome well the jury is still out on the name part but i like this pick he is also a good shooter that helps take that to the bank bromigos 

 
Man, what a fun night.  As a Wolves fan, I'm pretty pumped.  Sucks losing Lavine and I still think Dunn turns out to be a solid starter, but the thought of Butler/Wiggins/Towns is downright fun.  Oh, and I'm glad the trade removed us from being in position to take Markkanen at 7.   :yucky:   Still have serious concerns about D, though I hope another year of Tibbs coaching and Butler's acquisition brings a marked improvement.  And obviously they still need to address the fact that they don't have any shooters.  But giddy up!!

I think there is almost no chance that Dunn develops into even a passable starting PG. I would bet that he never even turns into a legit backup PG. He is already 23 and might have been the worst player in the NBA to play 1000 minutes.

I think this might be an all time fleecing of a trade.

Dunn is trash.  I like Lavine, but he is no Jimmy Butler.  This kid at7 has some nice highlights. I hope he is the next dirk...

He gotta get better driving to the basket and defense. Was a little surprised Arizona didn't go farther in the ncaas but it wasn't his fault.  He does remind me of Dirk, but Dirk would take all those crazy angle shots and make them.  I don't see that with this guy.  But who knows. He's got a good skill set to start with and he's big.

I do like what I see.  I just hate that he might be our best player.

 
Adam Kaufman (local Boston sports guy for CBS Radio) is hearing rumblings that the Celtics and Pacers already have a deal in place to trade Paul George and he will sign a 3 year extension with Boston. Apparently, they are waiting until the free agency period to announce it since it's contingent upon the Celtics signing Hayward first and squeeze in the George deal afterwards so the salaries match up and don't push the C's over the cap next season.

 
Butler got traded for even less than what the Kings got for Cousins. I'm guessing that doesn't bode well for whatever return the Pacers are expecting.

Extension part is hard to believe. What's his incentive to sign that now?

Is that even possible? Technically he is under contract for two more seasons (player option on 18-19). I didn't think you could extend a player in that situation.

Not 100% positive but I don't think that extension is possible.

In Butler, the Bulls had one of the most valuable player contracts in the entire league. Butler, who rated third in the league in wins produced based on ESPN's real plus-minus (RPM) behind LeBron James and Stephen Curry in 2016-17, has two more guaranteed years remaining at $18.7 and $19.8 million before a player option for 2019-20 (also for $19.8 million) that he's sure to decline barring injury. Over those two years, I project his production as worth about $90 million, giving Butler more than $50 million in surplus value to his team. That ranks 10th in the league.

Dunn shot just 28.8 percent from 3-point range on 2.0 attempts per 36 minutes, and he wasn't much better inside the arc, at 40.4 percent. Among the 282 players who played at least 1,000 minutes last season, Dunn's .432 true shooting percentage ranked dead last. No objective analysis of Dunn's rookie season suggests he's likely to develop into an NBA starting point guard, which is how the Bulls are almost certainly valuing him in this trade.

LaVine is entering the final season of his rookie contract. A realistic timetable for his recovery from ACL surgery makes it unlikely LaVine will be back for training camp, meaning Chicago will probably have to decide on a possible extension for him before seeing him take the court. The Bulls can wait for LaVine to become a restricted free agent and decide whether to match any offer, certainly, but at that point, he would be more likely to be fairly paid than the kind of bargain Chicago should have been seeking as part of a package for Butler.

Given that Dunn and LaVine should have relatively little trade value and Chicago had to give up its own first-round pick to move up just nine spots (a move equivalent to the value of the 23rd pick, per my trade value chart), it's hard to imagine there wasn't a better deal available.  If this truly was the best the Bulls could do for Butler right now, then I'm not sure I understand the urgency to move him. I get the argument for moving Butler because the Bulls aren't particularly competitive with him, but not if this is all they could get in return. This package doesn't set Chicago up for a future any brighter than the eighth-seed purgatory the team was already in.

I don't understand the cap perfectly but I saw a RT about Windhorst claiming the Cavs will look for Wade or Melo on the buyout market. Seems like that shouldn't happen to me.

Easily the worst part of the NBA CBA is how the rich get richer every season because of the mercenary market. Wade and Melo should be playing for big contracts.

I like this move.  Would be cool if the Lakers could swing it.  Wade still a better player than Deng.  I'm not high on Clarkson.

Ball/Wade/Ingram/Randle/Lopez is intriguing.

i hope so, but Trader Danny was on Boston's leading morning show - which he calls in to every Thurs AM during the season - and, being familiar with what he can & cant talk about, the hosts asked him if there were any potential deals that hinged on what the Celts would be able to sign in free agency and Danny seemed genuinely mystified as to what that might mean, so....

i just know i'm tired of this whole thing - several years, three drafts & two trade deadlines since the FLEECING OF THE NETS and all we've gotten is two rotation players and at least 19 trashbagsful of WTF?!?! If Stevens wasn't a coach who shows me new work & concepts virtually every game, i'd be thinking about the Turnin' In o' the :X Green   :kicksrock:

From what I saw in the NCAA last season, I believe Tatum is the best player in this draft.  With Stevens turning the dials, he will be great.  If Cleveland has any kind of setback, Boston can be in the Finals next year with the roster they have now.

I too am hoping they make a move for PG, but if not, they will still have a shot simply by adding Tatum to a team that made the ECF last season as the 1 seed.

Nobody is, which is why it's perfect!

In all honesty, even with as incompetent as the Bulls' FO seems to be, no way they are taking that trash contract of Deng's.
