Grizzlies are a funny team because living in the NE part of the country, I hear literally 0 about this team. I am glad they seem to be trying though:

Free agent G Ben McLemore is finalizing a two-year, $10.7 million deal with the Grizzlies, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Kings declined to make McLemore a restricted free agent this summer, and he was previous linked to the Lakers, Knicks and Bucks. He could be a nice fit in Memphis with both Tony Allen and Vince Carter in free agency, leaving a big hole at the SG spot. McLemore never quite found his footing in Sacramento, but could enter the fantasy conversation in a favorable spot with the Grizzlies.
Leaves Memphis with $19m for Carter, Green, Allen, and Z-bo. I think just about all of those guys would be good targets for other teams at this point.

At best, they are keeping 2 of those 4. I have to think Green is pretty much a lock to stay and Carter is gone unless he can't find either more money or a situation to be a Richard Jefferson type on a minimum or BAE deal (I think the money difference for a long term vet is pretty small). I would guess Allen will find a 2 year 10-12 million dollar deal somewhere else and leave.

Paul Millsap to Denver for 3/90. Great signing for them. They might have enough wiggle room by shedding a contract or two (Nelson and Barton?) to resign Gallo as well or make a play on one of the other FA wings.
So what is Denver doing with their glut of PF's now? Seems like they should've just taken Mitchell on draft night.

The third year is a team option. That is a wicked good deal for the Nuggets.

I missed something.  Otto porter, Paul millsap, and Kyle Lowry are now worth 25, 30, and 33 million ####### dollars a year?  Good Lord.

They should have taken OG Anunoby. The trade back to get Lyles made no sense at the time and even less after they drafted Lydon, who in a vacuum seems like a solid pick. With Millsap on board, I bet they get pretty agressive in looking into consolidating a handful of the B/C-Level assets (Barton, Chandler, Beasley, Mudiay,Faried) into some A minus/B plus-Level assets (Bledsoe types).

i feel bad, but the whole "white NBA player" was the 1st thing i thought with him and rumors to Celtics. Does seem like something Boston should go all in and the rumors are making it sound like the visit went well.
If their reputation was unfounded, I'd feel bad too, but the fans embrace it.  Months ago when Hayward and the Jazz went to Boston the C's fans cheered for him like he was their own.

IMO the fans want a winning team They cheered for Hayward because he was to be available as a free agent and he's better than what they have at the same position. It's an action that is similar to when they chanted for KD to come Boston last year. Crowder complained because he knows that Hayward would take his position from him and the national media seized the opportunity to create a buzz.

1st NBA bet of the season:

Sixers +2.5

Look forward to Fultz staring down Celtics bench as he lights up the scoreboard with TLC. Furkan burying some 3s should do it

Chauncy Billups turning down the GM job in Cleveland is kind of funny. that franchise should be fun to watch this year:

Chauncey Billups - G -

Chauncey Billups has turned down the Cavaliers GM job according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

He was the only candidate interviewed so far, so it could be a little while before the Cavs find their guy. LeBron James could leave the Cavaliers as a free agent in 2018 which would set the franchise back for years, so the GM job isn't as desirable as you would think

god, with all these teams in the west re-loading, how ####ed is Portland?  with the highest (or 2nd-highest?) salary in the whole league, their best-case scenario still seems to be fighting for the last playoff spot.  I guess they can hope that they can build the end of last year with a healthy Nurkic, but still.

the West looks strong and it seems that they are getting stronger. Am I the only one here that realizes this is the result of the Sixers dynasty being built???  Hell yeah i would run away from FRESCAS, particulary Embiid, if i had the chance. Can't blame the players

betting on the summer league?  oh my.

Also, I don't think that team has officially confirmed that Korkmaz is coming, have they?

Can't spell SCARED, without Simmons, Covington, Amir, Redick, Embiid, and Dario.

This. I'd say GS, SA, HOU, UT (assuming Hayward stays), and OKC are pretty sure bets to be in barring injury. That leaves MEM, DEN, MIN, LAC, NO, and POR battling for 3 spots - those are all probably pretty decent teams with a lot of high end talent (albeit with big question marks except for perhaps MEM). I have lots of trouble seeing Portland breaking into the top 8 again with that competition. Dallas, Sacramento, LAL, and Phoenix won't have to try too hard to tank.

Best case scenario fighting for the last playoff spot?  I think you are not giving the Blazers enough credit.  They played very well down the stretch last year until Nurkic got hurt.

My prediction on Melo, he will be traded to the Cavs for shumpert/Frye(expiring contracts) and a 2021 first round pick.

I agree that there is a chance that they can build on what they had with nurkic, but Catch basically lays it out just above.  Look at that at tell me how Portland fits into that landscape.

Lakers and George Hill meeting to discuss a 1 year deal. Hill used to be a Pelinka client. Would be great for the Lakers (especially if it keeps them from adding Rondo).

Man, Hill should have taken that extension  Jazz offered him last season.

Either he made the worst free agent decision since Latrell Sprewell or he reeeeeeeally hates SLC.

Hill looks ####ed as far as long term big money deal. Not a great time to be waiting around.....particularly as PG with draft heavy of them. And a lot of teams still ####ed from last offseason.

Already loving seeing derrick rose still stuck on the market. Best of luck to you. Hope you're able to feed your kids. Couldn't happen to a better guy.

Local media reports say it's all but done that he comes. It hasn't been announced officially since Korkmaz is working on a buyout with his team to lower it and the Sixers are paying partial of it as well.

Jrue Holiday's brother Justin is going back to Chi on a 2/9 deal. Justin was involved in the DRose trade to NYK (Yes this one is real update on my phone told me so  :P )

Who wants to deal with Gilbert? Odds are against an extension, and it is a no win situation with LeBron. If he stays he tells you who to sign, if he leaves that team is going to be fighting for a playoff spot until Kyrie demands a trade.  Good call by Billups.

NBA Hoops rumors does a great breakdown of the days moves and rumors during the offseason. Here's a quick summary from yesterday all in one

Kyle Lowry, Raptors agree to three-year, $100MM contract.

Paul Millsap, Nuggets agree to three-year, $90MM contract.

Serge Ibaka, Raptors agree to three-year, $65MM contract.

Taj Gibson, Timberwolves agree to two-year, $28MM contract.

Kyle Korver, Cavaliers agree to three-year, $22MM contract.

Nene, Rockets agree to three-year, $10.954MM contract.

Ben McLemore, Grizzlies agree to two-year, $10.64MM contract.

Justin Holiday, Bulls agree to two-year, $9MM contract.

Jodie Meeks, Wizards agree to two-year, $7MM contract.

Here are a few more of the day’s notable headlines:

Carmelo Anthony reportedly open to waiving no-trade clause for Cavaliers, Rockets.

Raptors, Pacers discuss Cory Joseph trade.

Talks between Rockets, Cavaliers on Iman Shumpert trade have stalled.

Kings offer maximum salary contract to Otto Porter.

Suns make four-year contract offer to Alan Williams.

Timberwolves pull Shabazz Muhammad‘s qualifying offer, making him an unrestricted free agent

The guy made 26M in endorsements.  At some point does it even matter.    $50M+ per year and playing on one of the greatest teams ever sure sounds pretty awesome to me.
yup. i read an article a few months ago that talked about how the salaries for the upper tier guys almost don't really matter. they make more money from endorsements, etc. then even their salary, and those endorsements are based on winning, especially in the playoffs

i watched a lot of duke bball this year.  tatum had an nba level offensive repertoire as a college freshman.   i don't remember the last time I saw a college freshman with some a refined offensive game.

#### me is he insane?
I wouldn't be surprised if there was some silicon valley money promised to Durant under the table.  This might be the biggest pay-cut we have ever seen in any sport.  Brady has done it but not to this extent.  James has too, although again not to this extent.  Not sure why he did it either since it sounds like he could have been signed at much closer to max it just would have increased the billionaire owner's tax bill but not changed the Warriors at all.

i went nutty (no pun intended :))when the Sixers had the 3rd pick reading up on the possible 3-4 guys they may grab around there. It seemed like many thought Tatum was maybe the one most ready to come in and play, but his ceiling was lower then everybody else in the top 10. They made it sound like what you see is what you will get. which can be good with his offensive skillset, i think the main knock was he won't be growing much past what he is now
