**2017 Preseason Observations Thread** (1 Viewer)

I went to the Saints/Texans last night, I'm not sure this is all that worthy but anyway here are some notes:

- I didn't see any emerging offensive players for the Texans last night. By contrast a couple years ago Hoyer to Hopkins stood out.

- The only exception to that might be that Ellington got a lot of snaps and attention but then there was no Hopkins or Fuller and nothing much was generated by Savage.

- Savage looks like he will be a good weekly DST matchup.

- Watson has miles to go. He threw one pick, he could have easily had another couple, just thrown up balls under pressure.

- The Saints defense may (yes) be a sleeper. Two weeks in a row they have shut out opposing offenses. It's preseason etc. They have a weird early schedule with a game in London, a game vs the Pats and then a bye but they could be a nice mid-season pickup if things pan out.

- Ted Ginn had a nice game. Not big stats but he looked good, caught the ball, was wide open and he was involved early with Brees.

- Tommylee Lewis might emerge as a Saints wrinkle at some point in the season. Great speed.

- Peterson had his first serious preseason action in a long time, maybe 5+ years? No big yards but it's amazing seeing a good runner just pick up a couple yards by himself where they did not exist. He did that. Overall he looked healthy.

Titans after shooting all the toes off of one foot are now working on the other one.  :penalty:

Mariota keeps throwing out of bounds when he goes to Sharpe.

Nice play by Taylor on the slant route. He keeps his feet after the catch and almost splits two defenders to take it all the way.

Derrick Henry not looking so good to me so far. Went down to an easy ankle tackle after a catch in the flat.

His run earlier he was just standing straight up behind the line and wasn't decisive enough to make anything happen on the play.

Not sure it was totally his fault but the attempted reverse was a disaster as well. Henry looked like he had no clue what to do.

If anyone gave up on Kendall Wright in a dynasty league - which is the case in my main league - looks like a great add.  Someone will have to catch passes in the garbage time that will start about midway through the 2nd quarter of every Bears game, and Wright may be the most likely benefactor with Meredith likely done.

Tackler had him wrapped up before he saw him. If pass was in front of him would have made things interesting

Victor Cruz with a catch. Looks like he moves up the depth chart with Meredith out.

Some of the combination routes with White and Wright were Meredith and White before.

Jordan Howard always looks like a tank going downhill. Scary man, bumping him up above only McCoy, DJ, and Bell
Yeah. I'm torn on Howard.

Gordon, Gurley, Murray, Ajayi are all seemingly picks around that ADP.

Even with a seemingly bottom tier overall offense Howard just consistently churns out the yards. Blue collar hero.

Trubisky off target on his first two throws to Wright. First one ball placement was too far outside and behind Wright, the second one was too high (I am not sure if I've ever seen Wright go up and catch high passes).

The second pass was White not going up and getting it.  Wright was behind the play.

Trubisky with a botched snap exchange that he recovers. Then he almost throws an interception the following play.

Looks rookish.

Derrick Henry running to the outside left two times now for no gain. I don't really like him going laterally like this.

Then they run Henry up the middle and he has two good runs.

Some street ball with Mariotta running to the LOS then flipping the ball to Henry who gets a long gain. Refs almost called Mariota past the LOS but they pick up the flag.

Henry scored a TD with a nice move to the outside. But the refs blew the whistle on Houston for being in the neutral zone before the snap negating the TD.

Henry scores on a TD run to the right that happened while they were at commercial. Only saw the replay of it. Then back to commercial.

I think Reuben Foster will easily make 100+ tackles this year. He is like Luke Kuechly in that he is in the finishing frame of every single play.

Well as long as we got right back to the commercials. I mean who wants to see a touchdown while watching a football game?
Yeah the play was a catch I guess but I didn't see that part of it, ball was already in his hands when they cut back to the play.

This annoyed me enough that I kind of stopped watching at that point.

Wish I would have missed the Vikings game. Oof.

Exciting finish for the Vikings to get the win which is a bit of a silver lining.

They were not playing well in the first quarter. Saw Diggs dropping some key catches earlier on. Blocking didn't seem as good with the starters in there.

Yeah that mn performance made me a little less excited about cook as my rb2
