**2017 Preseason Observations Thread** (1 Viewer)

y'all are killing me.  top draft pick shreds the three's with itty bitty baby passes and he's the second coming.
Are you watching the game or just looking at the box score? His passes are tight and on the money, on the run, and tight spirals. The kid has only started 13 college games in his career so doing this, even against the 2nd/3rd Ds, in his first start as a pro is impressive.

Glennon's QBR vs. 1st stringers was 0, call me crazy but I think Trubisky would have eclipsed that.
As much as I was I impressed with Trubisky's first performance as a pro, we have to give Glennon a chance. Denver's 1st D is one of the best of the league and the O line and the rest of the Bears O didn't fare well either. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

For a guy that announcers were saying he was "known for his good decisions", Glennon didn't make any good decisions...

I'm not prepared to do this

Evans looks to be in midseason form, drops and all.

Martin handled the first series. He had a nice run up the middle where he spun off of a lineman and into the second level. He generally looked good.

Quizz was consistently breaking tackles and picking up yards after contact. I'm still amazed that he isn't trash.

Hill looks the same, like a one dimensional banger.

Mixon looks potentially special. I just don't know how the touches in this backfield are going to breakdown. It does look like he has the talent to dominate touches but I don't think it's going to happen at the onset.

Smith connected with Hill on a go route for 32 yards on the opening play. The DB gave him a free release, that was a mistake. There was another play where he burned his man but Smith didn't see him.

Ware handled the first series and looked like pre-concussion Ware from last year. On one checkdown pass he juked the #### out of a defender to pick up 10 yards. He punched it in from 2 yards out on the subsequent play. As I write this he's been targeted 4 times and has 3 catches in the 1st quarter.

Edit: It looks like Brieda is getting work ahead of Williams.

This forum and the fantasy community at large continues to undervalue Joe Mixon... it won't last long.

Yeah, you're not watching the game. That's obvious.  Watch the game actually being played before saying this nonsense.
I watched the first half including all of the New Messiah (tm).

He looked great.  Athletic.  Accurate.  I've seen similar performances in pre-season from Geno Smith and Ryan Mallett.

Pointing out context is hardly "nonsense".  Nonsense is elevating this young man to Canton for doing his job adequately.

No one said anything about HOF for Trubisky at all in this thread. Basic knowledge of the game shows that he had good footwork, and went through his progressions last night.

This is basically what the community on this thread who saw the game are saying, nothing more.

It was a floater though, I'd rather see him gun it in with some touch instead of just lobbing it up.
?  WTF does that even mean?

Yeah, nice TD pass... I'd just prefer if you did it a different way?

The ball didn't dive down into the players hands, it floated up and sat in the air.  That's what I mean.  You know how coaches talk about deep balls and they have to tail into the players hands?  That's the throw I'm talking about.  Not a big deal.

I thought Watson looked pretty solid but my big thought on them in general was that this QB class might have been severely underrated.
I agree completely. In fact for whatever reason this is my favorite class that I can remember. Maybe not elite prospects but there are a ton of guys at positions that I feel will contribute for a long time. I also love the QB class and I think it will outshine next years prestigious class.

no thanks.first, Hill is hanging around and not going anywhere , and u have games vs. pitt balt and improving browns d.also packers texans and a murderers row in fantasy playoffs with vikings d, bears improving squad and the steelers.

If Im drafting a backup RB with starter potential Im taking Joe Williams or Kareem Hunt or McCaffrey or Bilal Powell any day instead of Mixon, all of whom have far less competition ahead of them...
