2017 US OPEN - Erin Hills (1 Viewer)

Yeah it's pretty bad, that's why I wondering who they were. How long of a contract does Fox have for their US Open coverage?
The one with the Southern accent--is named Brooks.  He just picked his namesake as a sleeper--Brooks Koepka.

I think his name is Mark Brooks.  Don't know the color guy's (Mr. Hello) name yet.

And also how many times they refer to how hard a walk it is for the players.  JFC--they're professional athletes.
Played in the US Am there.  It is a brutal walk.  Like 10-12 miles.  Of course I had to lug my own sticks.  These guys have a caddie doing all their work.

This is the problem with courses like this.  The wind changes the game so much.  On a calm day, those wide fairways make it too easy for pros to score, but if they built these courses with normal tight fairways like other courses, then when the wind blows(like it normally does) then breaking 80 would be a chore even for these guys.

Unless the wind picks up this weekend, expect -18 or so to win this thing.

In a perfect world I'd love to see two days of favorable conditions/shot-making, then have it blow and watch them grind out two weekend rounds.

The medical helicopter program I work for just responded to that incident.

I'm the public affairs person... any guess on how many media calls I'm about to receive?

is he worse than Johnny Miller? i mean Buck's awful, but at least Buck doesn't have license to reference some round he shot 4 decades ago to legitimize his position as a broadcaster.
Miller is probably objectively worse but Buck gets on my nerves a lot more.

All golf should be on CBS.

Johnny Miller is opinionated and an ### but he knows the game.  Buck's ok but the two guys I hate are Nantz and Tirico.

Golf guys:  is this a #### move?

Playing golf with some friends and one of the games is snake--i.e. every 3-putt costs something and the last person to make a 3-putt has to match the pot.

Fast forward to the 18th which is a very difficult green and there are three potential 3-putts.

Player A putts to 10 feet and marks.

Player B putts to 5 feet and says he will finish.  He makes the 5-footer.

Player C makes a good putt and taps in.

Player B normally would have marked from 5ish feet but decided to finish so even if he missed his putt, he wouldn't have been the last person to 3-putt--assuming player A missed his 10 footer, of course.

Anything wrong with player B's actions?

No, player followed the rules.

I'm also not a fan of that game.

I can't believe how far those guys have to walk and how deep the fescue is.  Has that been mentioned yet?

Yes.  Despite it's routine use on the PGA tour, there is no such rule in the rules of golf that allow you to finish out.  It's common practice only because there is no penalty for it in stroke play.  However, even though it's not true match play, the rules of snake make that game play as a match play type game.  In match play, if you play out of turn, your playing partner can make you replace your ball and replay your shot even if you make it.  If you're gonna to play this game, then this is how you need to treat the rules with regards to three putting.
