2017 World Series Thread: Cosjobs washes his shirt & dooms the Astros to a game 7 (1 Viewer)

If I'm managing the Dodgers I throw Kershaw tonight with hopes of trotting him out for a potential game 7. Seems like their best shot to me.

He manages strictly by sabermetrics so he won't. I'm hoping this series marks the start of a decline of sabermetrics. If you overdo it, it hurts the game in my opinion.
He's good, but he's no Madison Bumgarner.

IIRC he got thumped on three days rest in the 2014 playoffs, whereas it seemed like Bumgarner was pitching every other day.

I am a dodger fan so obviously hope they win but the death of sabremetrics would be a pretty nice consolation.

Kershaw doesn’t pitch great on shorter rest so I am ok with waiting until tomorrow. Wood should be fine and the dodgers bats will wake up and the Astros will cool down. I am not concerned, Dodgers haven’t played well and have been in every game.

True...but that happens when grown men play a kids game.  Pro athletes are in a constant stage of adolescence.
That argument can be used to rationalize just about any behavior.   I'm not lowering my expectations for basic human decency just because Gurriel gets paid to play ball.

Why would you throw Kershaw on short rest?  You need to win one of the three in Houston.  Game 5 is the same as Game 4.

All of these dopes on TV talking about how this is a must-win for the Dodgers.

Uh, no it's not.

I'm never going to root for a Dodgers win but I wouldn't mind it if the series gets back to LA so Gurriel can get booed.

death of sabermetrics?  these 4 teams in the LCS are as heavy on analytics as anyone.  why would anything happening now be signaling the death of sabermetrics?

it hasn't hurt
I guess, but LA and CHI's position players all make very little, and aside from Gardner, the Yanks have very little in terms of positional payroll (Frazier and Ellsbury weren't great contributors, though I suppose they can't be just ignored).

Certainly, the money has enabled them to fill in their pitching staffs.

Dumbest play in baseball. Especially with no or one out. I just don't believe the odds are with you on that stupid contact play especially when it's hit to 3rd.

Dumb dumb dumb

this youtubetv thing does have me intrigued now.  It includes regional NBC/Comcast sports networks.  Plus cloud DVR with unlimited storage.  Two key things that kept me from being all that interested in Sling.

Now that the hill in CF is gone, can we agree that LF is kind of a joke too
The fact that a near fly ball can go 315 feet and be out at ground level but you put that a shade to the right and need to clear a 21 foot sign?  that part?

Musgrove has never entered a game with a 1 run defect any earlier than the 6th inning in his career.  He's only pitched in the 9th once, ever.
