I agree I just hate the he's a rapist retort by fans. It was never proven he was in the court of law. Doesn't mean he didn't do anything wrong though just you are labeling the dude wrong.

While I would love to have Kawhi on the team this year, I think I'd rather just ride the year out and sign him as a FA after next year.  Gives the Lakers a bit more flexibility in which youngsters they want to keep around for years 2-4 of LBJ's contract.

Kyrie, yes.  PG I think just didn't want to be the first to commit to LA, and he liked what he had in OKC.  Don't think that was not wanting to play with LBJ.

Kawhi says he wants to play in LA, so who knows if LBJ signing changes anything.

The worry of course is that if anyone signs him, it should be with the handshake deal in place that he will extend.  Lakers have a bit of an advantage there as they know for sure that handshake would be followed through on.   

But ya, Lakers aren't winning a title this year.  In an ideal world they'd just sign him next year.

Yep.  Lots of folks underestimating Ingram, Ball, Kuzma, and Hart.  I understand the lack of love for Hart, as you have to have watched a lot of Laker games last year to see why he's so highly though of in the Laker organization.  But Ingram, Kuzma, and Ball's potential should be well known to all. 

Let LeBron play with the young cats for half a season before making any rash changes.

Kawhi and Lebron are the two guys that should have the ball in their hands the most - he has already stated he wants to go to LA multiple times. No need for a guard that can't shoot, ship Ball and a pick and start contending now.

The biggest issue is that LeBron would have almost 200 more games played by the time the finals roll around in 19-20.  He will be 35 next playing season.  At some point even he won't be able to avoid Father Time.

No, because Kawhi wants to go to LA and no one ever backs out of wanting to go to L.A., plus Ingram, Ball or Kuzma might develop into 75 percent of the player that Kawhi is.

Agree, 40+ minutes for 15 seasons - he proved he is still absolutely amazing in the postseason last year, but with those miles, he is near the peak... the trip down is almost always much quicker than the one up. He's a smart guy, he knows the window won't be open forever - I doubt he views next season as a rebuild. 

I'd bet they pull something off.

It takes one knee buckle, on rough fall, one foot stepped on the wrong way and, at 35, it's just never close to the same.

I remember watching Ewings championship contender years end when he took that hard tumble in his mid 30's and hurt his wrist. You just knew it was over.

Now, Lebron is a special specimen and one of the greatest pure athletes, well, ever... but it's one bump in the road that could become a roadblock.

Maybe he defies it, he's certainly smart enough to not over extend in season if with a ton of minutes, but none of us escape the eventual reach of the reaper. 

 
I'd be happy if the Lakers could manage to get Evans, Lopez and Randle. Then you get to see a year of Kawhi and add one of Durant, Kawhi, Klay next season without giving up any of the young players. Would make this year's team ...

PG: Ball, Evans

SG: KCP, Evans, Hart, Lance

SF: Ingram, Lance, Hart, Deng

PF: LeBron, Kuzma, Randle, Deng

C: Randle, Lopez, McGee, Wagner

Lot of depth there. Likely below Warriors and Hou, but potential improvement from youngsters would make it dangerous.

Ummm, he logged 3,026 minutes this season, the most in the NBA. In the postseason he logged 919 minutes, which is equivalent to an extra 9 quarters to the guy in 2nd, Draymond.

Yes. And I've never personally seen a better job of being able to pace oneself considering the time he was on the court. 

They even did a few spots on it in terms of his conserving energy during games and during the season to extend more full out only when necessary / beneficial

The Warriors might as well stop construction on the new Chase Center and play their games at Staples as the Los Angeles Warriors of Golden State.  No need to break up the team.

 
When will the Warriors have to make a tough decision or two regarding their top 4? Is the assumption that Klay will take a discount and they'll be able to keep everyone? Green has a chance to qualify for the super-max this year, if that happens it seems impossible to keep everyone happy.

Don't worry. Even with Love, they'll be drafting far higher than 11.

 
Mybookie is kinda squarish it but they had LeBron to LA close at -5000 / 1500 (98% io)

They now have Lakers win total at 62.5 vs Warriors at 61.5

Lakers +125 to win title vs Warriors +200

and Kawhi to LA -1000 / 600

I'm not down on Ball.  Sure he's got a funky jump shot that has to improve but the rest of his game is advanced.  LaVar will shut up and be a non factor or he knows his son will be shipped out of LA.  LeBron will have more life in his legs if he doesn't have to take it up the whole floor.
