Pay Gasol?Nope, it sure didn't. But hey, the Lakers got their first big name free agent since Shaq. Congrats!!
Confused about this one. Wasn't that a trade that was nixed?CP3 should probably count.
I agree I just hate the he's a rapist retort by fans. It was never proven he was in the court of law. Doesn't mean he didn't do anything wrong though just you are labeling the dude wrong. Not surprising. The idea that her failure to cooperate meant he was completely innocent of any wrongdoing is/was an overstatement by Kobe defenders. The idea that Kobe is a violent rapist is just as silly.
"Basketball reasons"Confused about this one. Wasn't that a trade that was nixed?
i was thinking it was more the blatant violation of NBA rules like tampering, but could be eitherthe only silence i hear is from lakers fans who refuse to address that the organization venerates sexual assault and glorifies those who commit it and will look the other way in favor of wins over women i guess if that is the sound of silence you are referencing then yep its pretty deafening take that to the bank brohans
While I would love to have Kawhi on the team this year, I think I'd rather just ride the year out and sign him as a FA after next year. Gives the Lakers a bit more flexibility in which youngsters they want to keep around for years 2-4 of LBJ's contract.Hello darkness, my old friend
Kyrie and now Paul George both didn't want to play with LeBron. Are we sure that Kawhi wants to?
Could be a nice add for OKC, assuming that’s on the relatively cheap.Nerlens Noel to OKC.
Everybody run. Here comes the Whambulance. The thread title should read HEY FBG, THERE IS A BASKETBALL FORUM YA KNOW
https://forums.footballguys.com/forum/forum/44-the-basketball-forum/
I just noticed that there is one. Why this thread isn’t in there is weird. Just sayin’Everybody run. Here comes the Whambulance.
Imagine working for the NBA and discussing this. Someone breaks out “basketball reasons” as a rationale. How does this person have a job?"Basketball reasons"
The worry of course is that if anyone signs him, it should be with the handshake deal in place that he will extend. Lakers have a bit of an advantage there as they know for sure that handshake would be followed through on.While I would love to have Kawhi on the team this year, I think I'd rather just ride the year out and sign him as a FA after next year. Yep. Lots of folks underestimating Ingram, Ball, Kuzma, and Hart. I understand the lack of love for Hart, as you have to have watched a lot of Laker games last year to see why he's so highly though of in the Laker organization. But Ingram, Kuzma, and Ball's potential should be well known to all. While I would love to have Kawhi on the team this year, I think I'd rather just ride the year out and sign him as a FA after next year. Kawhi and Lebron are the two guys that should have the ball in their hands the most - he has already stated he wants to go to LA multiple times. No need for a guard that can't shoot, ship Ball and a pick and start contending now.Yep. Lots of folks underestimating Ingram, Ball, Kuzma, and Hart. Let LeBron play with the young cats for half a season before making any rash changes.
Well after Kawhi, Davis and Durant go there I guess LeBron could cone off the bench.Anthony Davis just bought a $7.5M mansion outside LA. He next in 3 years? Him and Bron could play together for at least one season.
The biggest issue is that LeBron would have almost 200 more games played by the time the finals roll around in 19-20. He will be 35 next playing season. At some point even he won't be able to avoid Father Time.Yep. Lots of folks underestimating Ingram, Ball, Kuzma, and Hart. No, because Kawhi wants to go to LA and no one ever backs out of wanting to go to L.A., plus Ingram, Ball or Kuzma might develop into 75 percent of the player that Kawhi is.As great and healthy as Lebron was, there is no guarantee he will be healthy in 1-2 years. Gotta try for Leonard now.
Agree, 40+ minutes for 15 seasons - he proved he is still absolutely amazing in the postseason last year, but with those miles, he is near the peak... the trip down is almost always much quicker than the one up. He's a smart guy, he knows the window won't be open forever - I doubt he views next season as a rebuild. As great and healthy as Lebron was, there is no guarantee he will be healthy in 1-2 years. It takes one knee buckle, on rough fall, one foot stepped on the wrong way and, at 35, it's just never close to the same.Agree, 40+ minutes for 15 seasons - he proved he is still absolutely amazing in the postseason last year, but with those miles, he is near the peak... the trip down is almost always much quicker than the one up. I'd bet they pull something off.
Ummm, he logged 3,026 minutes this season, the most in the NBA. In the postseason he logged 919 minutes, which is equivalent to an extra 9 quarters to the guy in 2nd, Draymond. It takes one knee buckle, on rough fall, one foot stepped on the wrong way and, at 35, it's just never close to the same.
I remember watching Ewings championship contender years end when he took that hard tumble in his mid 30's and hurt his wrist. You just knew it was over.
Now, Lebron is a special specimen and one of the greatest pure athletes, well, ever... but it's one bump in the road that could become a roadblock.
Maybe he defies it, he's certainly smart enough to not over extend in season if with a ton of minutes, but none of us escape the eventual reach of the reaper.

Yes. And I've never personally seen a better job of being able to pace oneself considering the time he was on the court.Ummm, he logged 3,026 minutes this season, the most in the NBA. In the postseason he logged 919 minutes, which is equivalent to an extra 9 quarters to the guy in 2nd, Draymond.
Replace "likely" with "way" and it's a great post.I'd be happy if the Lakers could manage to get Evans, Lopez and Randle. Then you get to see a year of Kawhi and add one of Durant, Kawhi, Klay next season without giving up any of the young players. Would make this year's team ...
PG: Ball, Evans
SG: KCP, Evans, Hart, Lance
SF: Ingram, Lance, Hart, Deng
PF: LeBron, Kuzma, Randle, Deng
C: Randle, Lopez, McGee, Wagner
Lot of depth there. Likely below Warriors and Hou, but potential improvement from youngsters would make it dangerous.
The delusions from all these new Laker fans are hilarious.I love how suddenly the Warriors are going to break up next year so one of them can be lucky enough to join the Lakers.
And how would you have referred to Lakers fans last season if they said that LeBron was coming in a year? The delusions from all these new Laker fans are hilarious.
Don't worry. Even with Love, they'll be drafting far higher than 11.I really don't understand all the reports about the Cavs not shopping Love. Saying the right thing and waiting for the phone to ring? There's no way they should be trying to win and then end up finishing in the 11-14 range of the lottery which hands the pick off to the Hawks. Just can't let that even be a possibility. If it doesn't transfer this year, the Cavs send the Hawks two future 2nds.
lol that has nothing to do with the basketball talent they will put on the floor this year. And how would you have referred to Lakers fans last season if they said that LeBron was coming in a year?
No, and he never will be, but he's a top 6 NBA player all time.Is Lebron a top 6 Laker all time?
I'm not down on Ball. Sure he's got a funky jump shot that has to improve but the rest of his game is advanced. LaVar will shut up and be a non factor or he knows his son will be shipped out of LA. LeBron will have more life in his legs if he doesn't have to take it up the whole floor.Kawhi and Lebron are the two guys that should have the ball in their hands the most - he has already stated he wants to go to LA multiple times. No need for a guard that can't shoot, ship Ball and a pick and start contending now.
