2018 College Football Thread: Local man buys some teenage champions a 4 for 4 (1 Viewer)

Didn’t like they playcall on 3rd and 5 but I think the fg was the right call. Not like it matters

If saban never went to the nfl, would LSU basically be Alabama?
Maybe. But bama has better history than LSU, which helps a little. I'm not sure how much, but the best coach arguably ever, at the school with one of the elite traditions, makes for a great combo.

Michigan was hoping Harbaugh would be their saban.

One could wonder what Michigan State would be if saban hadn't left.

The offset is Louisiana football easily has as much talent as Alabama, honestly more, and Saban had basically fenced off that state.  If you look at his rosters at Alabama, they've been littered with top tier Louisiana recruits to this day.  Ed Orgeron is doing all he can to try and keep some home and IMO is doing an admirable job so far.  But I think LSU is every bit the beast Alabama is today had he stayed.  The donor base would be there for the dollars and let's not forget what the Mike Shula era was just before Saban arrived.  Tradition is nothing to these kids today.  They want to get to the NFL, end of story.  They don't give two craps about Billy Cannon or Joe Namath.

All they know is dominant Bama. These kids being recruited were in elementary school when Julio and Ingram were running wild.

Kid has no awareness whatsoever
That's always what I have to remind myself of watching so much NFL and then watching this. These are literally kids. It's the mental self aware type stuff they sometimes are just missing.

That's fair, assuming you're just talking about success on the field. Although I do think tradition is a benefit. LSU is still really good, which Alabama would be without Saban.

I'm looking at the full package, for all fans. There's something special when Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and USC succeed.

He’s like a redshirt sophomore at the end of the day. Really needed to throw there but I’m not 100% sure he would have been able to set his feet anyway.

I’m probably coming off as critical of him itt which isn’t fair, he’s the only reason OU is playing tonight. He is an amazing cfb player.
