Does anybody remember that reprehensible racist robocalling that happened a couple months ago in Florida? Well it's back. Disgustingly Racist Robocall Goes Out Against Andrew Gillum In Florida
The fact that there’s so much more of it than usual means something. I don’t know what that something is though. Some of you are trying to read way too much into the early voting.
Stupid liberal countiesWilliamson county (north of Austin), voter turnout on day 1 was nearly 5x that of 2014, higher than 2016.

It's that time of the election cycle when we start seeing reports about early voting! My advice is to literally just ignore everything.
Fear is all they have got.We have several contested elections here in Wisconsin involving Republicans who strongly align with Trump, including our governor who was bitterly opposed to Trump 2 years ago. Trump is here in the state today campaigning for several of them. Based on the ads bombarding me the past few days, the GOP message is one of fear. It can be boiled down to one simple message - "If you vote for my Democratic opponent, a brown person will rape and kill you." The statements in these ads are truly only slightly more nuanced than this, but it is clear that is the central message they are putting out.
gotta give them credit. when they find a message they unify behind it.Fear is all they have got.
To be fair, after looking at what the Republicans have done and are continuing to do, it seems Democrats have reason to be fearful.Fear is driving both sides right now.
I find the fact that voter suppression in America is a real factor in elections amazing.
Glenn Greenwald @ggreenwaldBooker testified on Menendez's behalf at his corruption trial. Here’s Menendez tearfully thanking Booker for backing him since Day One.
You're probably correct that he will win anyway. Being staggeringly corrupt didn't stop Cuomo from being backed by top party brass and winning re-election in a landslide $25M advantage, and it certainly won't stop Menendez either.
The guy was arrested for assaulting a police officer in 1996, then got caught trying to conceal the arrest from voters
Wow, that's terrifying. We definitely need to get more women and minorities into politics. Hopefully that will help pull more women and minority voters into the voting process. The education levels...that's sobering.None of this is surprising but very interesting nevertheless: https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/what-if-only-men-voted-only-women-only-nonwhite-voters/
Gee, I wonder why "conservative" leadership and media outlets continuously demonize higher education institutions. Did those voting machines have photo IDs?!?!There's also photos on twitter confirming people that chose "straight ticket" and selected Democratic having it making them vote Cruz instead.

Texas election officials confirmed that voting machines used in 30% of its counties (including its biggest) are switching people’s votes, including the Senate race between Ted Cruz and Beto O’Rourke. The GOP-appointed officials say they have "no legal authority" to update them.
?Obama: "They didn't care about [Hillary's] emails. And you know how you know? Because if they did, they'd be up in arms right now as the Chinese are listening to the president's iPhone that he leaves in his golf cart. It turns out, I guess it wasn't that important."
sounds like user error. There's also photos on twitter confirming people that chose "straight ticket" and selected Democratic having it making them vote Cruz instead.

Kind of. Officials are confirming the issue. I'm guessing these weren't set up to be particularly accurate and some are tapping the name they want but not exactly, and the machines are probably so poorly set up they track it as a Cruz selection.sounds like user error.
I hope you're right. But still, it's like the Rs messed this one up like the Dems typically would. How did the Rs not get the message after losing so many repeal attempts? From the 538 roundup, Dem candidates' focus on health care is forcing Republicans to address the issue and making them back off their attacks on the pre-existing portions of Obamacare.
I still think the shift in public opinion on this issue has caught Repubs napping and it's something that they never wanted to deal with. We're heading down the path of a Social Security-like event.
Good. My body is a mess. From the 538 roundup, Dem candidates' focus on health care is forcing Republicans to address the issue and making them back off their attacks on the pre-existing portions of Obamacare.

I really wish I had faith in that happening. From the 538 roundup, Dem candidates' focus on health care is forcing Republicans to address the issue and making them back off their attacks on the pre-existing portions of Obamacare.

And yet there have been zero reports of Cruz votes changing to BetoWhat it sounded like is that if you went too fast or you held the toggle button too long, the page would turn and it would toggle a vote you didn't intend to change. Like a timing thing on loading pages and the physical controls.
Probably a poorly designed interface that wasn't beta tested sufficiently to insure that users' intentions were accurately recorded.
If anything, the Democrats should tone down the attacks on the NRA. They're already getting every single "anti NRA" vote. If they go on the offensive, then they run the risk of motivating thousands of pro-gun independents to vote Republican.Dems go out all out anti-NRA/ant gun violence as their main talking points after today yes?
this is pretty fantastic, thorough historical analysis of black voting in America.
The 1964 article about the two parties becoming nothing more than "liberals" and "conservatives" is pretty much a spot-on prediction of politics in 2018.this is pretty fantastic, thorough historical analysis of black voting in America.
This perception is the main reason we never get any gun control laws. The NRA is thought to be much more powerful than they actually are.If anything, the Democrats should tone down the attacks on the NRA. They're already getting every single "anti NRA" vote. Tim, the perception was reality for many years. The NRA easily destroyed anyone who farted in their general direction. The times may be changing, but I don't see any advantage to going after the NRA right now. Democrats are highly motivated already. This perception is the main reason we never get any gun control laws. Agreed. Let's win something first, then maybe something can be done.[scooter] said:Tim, the perception was reality for many years. I just don't see an upside in the strategy. What demographic are you going to pick up that you don't already have? "Independents who favor Trump but are open to gun control"? That seems like a pretty small category to me.
