Dumba gets 5 years, $30MM. Cap hit is more than I expected but I guess they bought 2 UFA years so makes a bit more sense.
What kind of performance bonuses could you possibly give a guy like Orpik? Not falling down?I can't help but think there's an Orpik rule in the next couple years.
@SWhyno: Brooks Orpik's deal to return to #Caps includes $500,000 in performance bonuses, which would make him whole after the trade and buyout. https://twitter.com/frank_seravalli/status/1021846765782360064
Quite possibly the cop was being a #####.That's not out of the realm of possibility.Arizona has hired Lindsey Hofford as Asst GM and Director of Scouting - he was a scout for the Maple Leafs who came in with Hunter, so it's not surprising to see him leave now that Hunter is gone.
Mostly, though, I'm just using this as an excuse to bring up the time last summer he got hammered, stole a golf cart, crashed it, and then left the scene at Darien Lake. Hilariously, in addition to being charged with DUI, refusing a breathalyser, leaving the scene and unauthorized use of a vehicle, he was also charged with conducting an unsafe lane change.. on a golf cart at Darien Lake... which you just know means he was being a total ##### and the cop hit him with everything.
That amount is ridiculous. That will wind up being worse than Belesky contract.RMNB @russianmachine
Capitals re-sign Tom Wilson to six-year deal worth $5.17 million annually
Was hoping he would be a bit cheaper but it's hard to argue with all he brings to the team this is money well spent.
That’s only the 8th highest per year on the team and he’s 24.That amount is ridiculous. That will wind up being worse than Belesky contract.
I love the Skjei deal. 6 years at a very moderate priceDumba and Zucker look like steals after Skjei and Wilson get that
What was Zuckers deal?Dumba and Zucker look like steals after Skjei and Wilson get that
Ooh. That seems significant for Karlsson in terms of difference between club expectation and player talent. This could be interesting
@reporterchris: William Karlsson/Vegas Golden Knights salary arbitration filings
Player ask: $6.5M
Team offer: $3.5M
Hearing is scheduled for Saturday.
Agreed, Skjei deal is much better than some of the money Rangers have thrown around on other defensemen. 24 year old good two-way defender who should only get better.I love the Skjei deal. 6 years at a very moderate price![]()
seems pretty standard, and they will likely give him $5MM to split the differenceThis could be interesting

man, they nailed that bottom 5The Athletic released their front office confidence rankings today. They're based on fan votes and split between fans of their own team and fans of all of the other teams, so don't yell at me. Canadian teams sure are at opposite ends of the spectrum.

wasn't a rip on Skjei, really good player. he's from Minnesota so he's obviously the greatest ever. but when a much more seasoned 24 year old coming off a 50 point season gets $6/year a week earlier you think they could have gotten that cap hit a bit lower than $5.25. regardless it will probably be a bargain very soon.I love the Skjei deal. 6 years at a very moderate price![]()
Jake Gardiner is a UFA after the season, so I've been paying attention to all these deals, I'm assuming he gets in the $7M range - more than Dumba, Skjei, etc... but he shouldn't get near the $8.25 that Ekman-Larsson got, with the one complicating factor being that you can create a pretty decent case that Gardiner is a better 5 on 5 player than John Carlson who got $8M - I would think probably around the league Carlson is regarded as the better player but with analytics guys in every front office, it's maybe not a huge gap.wasn't a rip on Skjei, really good player. he's from Minnesota so he's obviously the greatest ever. but when a much more seasoned 24 year old coming off a 50 point season gets $6/year a week earlier you think they could have gotten that cap hit a bit lower than $5.25. regardless it will probably be a bargain very soon.
I think $6.5-7MM makes a lot of sense for him, assuming another 50+ point season for him before he hits the open market. and they all absolutely belong there. Good to see 2 in the top 5 I guess even though I could never cheer for one of those 2.I think the only way they can keep him after re-signing Matthews, Marner, Nylander, is if they find a way to trade Zaitsev or Marleau after this season. Moving one of those contracts (and Horton's contract to IR) would open up the space - and absolutely be worth it, IMO.I think $6.5-7MM makes a lot of sense for him, assuming another 50+ point season for him before he hits the open market. I thought the original intent was for the arbitrator to pick one of the 2.Maybe that was baseball, or maybe it's changed over the years but this splitting down the middle is silly. The player might as well ask for the world and the team will counter with a crazy low offerseems pretty standard, and they will likely give him $5MM to split the difference
I assume the Sabres will extend him, but he could probably net a 1st round pick at the deadline if they don't. Hurricanes got a decent return, but no sure things really. I liked Pu but I don't know if he has anything more than #3C upside while Skinner is clearly a top-6 winger.
yeah, after second thought, it's a pretty underwhelming haul for them here unless they really like Pu.
Magic beans IMO. Sure, they could turn into something but unlikely. Pu is a complete all-around player who has like 1/3 the offensive upside of Skinner, and no first round picks, so...yeah, after second thought, it's a pretty underwhelming haul for them here unless they really like Pu.
sounds like he gave them a short list of teams he was willing to go to. I assume that means he'll be easier for the Sabres to sign. I saw that on Twitter, I guess he rejected some deals. Makes it more understandable.sounds like he gave them a short list of teams he was willing to go to. Hopefully your guy BoGo can stay healthy for once.I saw that on Twitter, I guess he rejected some deals. Makes it more understandable.
Sabres should take one of the biggest jumps up the standings this season, that might only land them in the 9th/10th range in the Eastern Conference but I'd be happy to be wrong.
Not going over good with the fan base. Trading Skinner isn't the problem, the return is. Got better for Staal as a rental to the Rangers.yeah, after second thought, it's a pretty underwhelming haul for them here unless they really like Pu.
It's like you got bad beat twice tonight. Not going over good with the fan base. Trading Skinner isn't the problem, the return is. Got better for Staal as a rental to the Rangers.
Waddell may not be a very good GM. Wonder what he'll get for Faulk. Not going over good with the fan base. Trading Skinner isn't the problem, the return is. Got better for Staal as a rental to the Rangers.

He'd have to ok a trade to that team. He waived his NTC for Buffalo because he wanted to be closer to home (Toronto) Well done Sabres.Don't really get why the Canes didn't wait for the trade deadline and move Skinner then if they know for sure he won't resign with them.
going to be fun to watch this team burnI year 7.35 mil for Mark Stone.
Is UFA after that.
Last one out of OTT turn out the lights please.

Oh no question the Sabres made out great with this.I question more why the Canes did what they did and the timing of it as well.Had they held onto him till the trade deadline I certainly can see them getting back a bit more than what they did here. He'd have to ok a trade to that team.
