106 points for the Bolts after 67 games. Kuch with a 108 points. What a freaking season.
I still get goosebumps when I remember the Capitals' 121-point 2009 season, when they earned the right to hoist their first Presidents Trophy banner.

Somehow can't remember what happened in the first round after they built a 3-1 lead over the Habs tho...

Also I saw Carolina wearing the Whalers jerseys tonight?
Such mixed feeling about that. Love that they pay tribute to the history of the franchise, and it's great to see one of the best and most iconic sweaters back on ice.

But for a lot of fans in CT, that has to be a real kick in the gut. Some wounds don't heal that easy.

Sucks for relocation...especially when they basically wipe out the whalers logo n sweater from existance....does karmanos still own the hurricanes??? He has a local jr hockey or minor hockey team and they are called the plymouth whalers

I think the kick is a little south of the gut.....

It was a kick in the gut earlier in the year, but now the sting has lessened a bit. It's just to sell sweaters. What can one do?

Thomas Dundon, per a quick Google search, is the majority owner. Karmanos is the minority owner.

Still cautiously optimistic that the Caps are continuing to flip that switch - won 5 straight and 7 of 8, but their schedule gets a lot tougher over the next couple weeks.

With the win last night, Holtby became the second fastest goalie in NHL history to reach 250 wins, doing it in 409 games played, behind only Ken Dryden's 381. Jacques Plante is next at 430. That's a pretty respectable list to be on.

Holtby also has a big new article in the Players Tribune, which is pretty entertaining.

Flipped on the game last night as the Flyers were scoring their first. "Oh," I thought, "I'll just sit down and watch this..."

Whoops.  5-1.

That is good company for Holtby to join. Means the Caps have also been very successful as a team.

He's just another Chris Osgood
Good insight - Osgood is #4 on that list of fastest to 250 wins, at 450 games (Andy Moog and Ryan Miller are tied at 5th, with 455 games).

But I think Holtby is significantly better. Already won a Vezina, and a 4-time All-Star in 9 years, compared to Osgood's 2 in 13 years. Holtby is 15th on the all-time regular season save % list and 3rd all-time in post-season, compared to 72nd and 33rd for Osgood.

It was just a joke based on the good teams comment made by rockaction.  I think Holtby was better than Osgood as well.

I don't recall seeing a team so dominant as the Lightning in a looooong time.

Not yet in the same breath as the dominance that the 29-30/71-72 Bruins, 83-84-85 Oilers, or 43-44/76-77 Habs showed, but hard not to be impressed.

Their first three lines are incredible, and even their 4th line has stepped up.

Their defensive lines are fantastic defensively, but have been pouring on goals too.

Both of their PP units are great, and in addition to Vasilevkiy being arguably one of best goalies this year, Domingue has been standing on his head too.

Scary good, top to bottom.

Going to be interesting what happens to the President Trophy locks. There's history of dominant teams like this skating into the finals, and also history of first round exits of similar teams. Either way, no one is looking forward to squaring off against this team in the post season I'm sure.

Lightning were -600 favorites vs Ottawa the other day. I think puckline odds were still -200 or something like that. I am not sure I've ever seen a line that high in hockey (although admittedly it's not the sport I follow most closely for gambling purposes).

Special kind of last second tank job by the ducks last night.
That wasn't a tank job. That was a special kind of bad luck and undisciplined play.

Game seemed pretty competitive throughout the game, and Gibson was making some really sound stops.

Blues with two in twelve seconds with about a minute to play tho.

You have to wonder what this game would have been if the Ducks played more controlled and didn't cede all those PP chances that led to 3 Blues goals in the first two periods.

Even the Blues tying goal came just after a penalty (Steel I think?) ended -- Blues vacated their net to have 6-4, penalty ended but the Blues were controlling the movement in their offensive zone. And the winner went off Henrique's skate.

Bruins with two nifty goals in the last minute (including Bergeron with eight seconds left) to flip a 3-2 deficit into a 4-3 lead and win.

Nice!

What scares me us they haven't really slumped at all this season. Hope that doesn't mean a playoff collapse.

They're looking pretty mediocre tonight.

Simmons just crushed Da Haan, no response.  It should be go time.  I hate having no stand up guys playing.  You get physical with the Canes, they wilt.

FYI, for those wondering, they called no goal.  Preds, couldn't challenge.  Brindy challenged goalie interference for a penalty.  Gave Preds goal.

OMG, when the Wild come to Carolina next Saturday they are giving Victor Rask a tribute

It consists of Nino Canes highlights.

@billmeltzer: Kurtis Gabriel, basically a career AHLer with a rep for questionable hitting,  comes all the way across the ice staring at the numbers on Nolan Patrick's back and drills him into the boards. Gets one game. Voracek preempts an illegal hit with one of his own, two games. Total joke

Ducks are 3-2 in last 5 . Winning!  Best trade ever!

Terry is 10x better now than start of the season.  Max Jones has been very impressive.

Flyers are within 3 points of a playoff spot (and getting smoked in first round).

But this weekend looks like

Thur vs Caps

Fri at Leafs

Sunday night at (angry) Penguins
