2018 NHL Thread: Cappy is happy while the rest of us pray to the ping pong gods for Tuesday night (1 Viewer)

they did last year.  must have been the first year
It was limited supply - but they finally are getting smart.

Worst was a regional I went to and DU went to 3rd OT - in second game - no beer all day long in Green bay with like 5 bars next to us around Lambeau. It was rough

I cannot believe that St. Cloud State upset.  one of the more dominant seasons in a while and good offensive team.  only goal was a bank off an AIC defender’s head.  crazy.  DU fans smiling after a less than 15 shot shutout victory as they waltz to Buffalo.

AIC is going to get smoked by SCSU, but what a great story if you know anything about the school. Only went D1 in 1998 ... and until two years ago played home games in a HS rink.
Wow. Haven't been following, but that's an upset of the toughest variety.

I know the school and have seen their players and remember the school from about twenty years ago. That's a shocker, to put it mildly. I've spent a lot of time on Worthington St. SPFLD, MA, for the win baby, apparently.

Big day of hockey today. Bruins-Panthers at 1 ... wearing the Vatrano Winter Classic jersey to rep both sides and the alma mater, then switching it up to the maroon and white and heading on up to ManchVegas for the biggest game in UMass history.

If I'm not mistaken I think beer can only be served at "Off Campus" NCAA events.   If the stadium or arena is "On Campus" then it's a dry event,

Not true in the regular season. DU serves plenty of beer at Magness on campus.

In the past I've been to regionals and frozen 4's and all were dry. Campus or off. 2 years ago they had a special area open in United center and you could drink before going in arena. Last year they allowed it in only certain sections in St. Paul(I wasn't there for that one)

No beer at Frozen Fours in Detroit (Ford Field), St.Paul (Xcel Center), or Chicago (United Center) that I’ve been to. Same for NCAA Basketball tournament games at a bunch of off campus arenas.

Congrats to the Minutemen - looks like the next game will be the biggest in UMass history.

ETA- And that big game will be against the University of Denver Pioneers!

Wilson and Cernak with the heavyweight brawl that’s been brewing. Cernak landed higher percentage but I think Wilson took the decision with the late power punches.

Another highly entertaining game between these 2 and it’s far from over after the Caps early 4-0 lead

EDIT: Upon further review, Wilson ends it with the straight right for a KO that send Cernak down the tunnel

Ducks taking tanking to a whole new level by playing a guy who was scratched.

He took a shift before being sent to the locker room. What if he would have scored?

I agree with you score card. Wilson also left the box early for his own tunnel walk. Maybe he hurt his hand on Cernak's face shield

Should be a pretty intense series If/when they meet again

Flight booked for Buffalo. Unfortunately, I couldn't get Saturday off, so it's a quick turnaround.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I hope I miss something truly historic by my alma mater.

You staying in the mariott attached. If you do, they have a sports bar there as well. Make a reservation if you want to go there, it books up quickly.

Lodging TBA, since I'm staying only one night. Brother-in-law and his wife are staying in Amherst. The Marriott looked pretty pricey.

Took care of mine - just got tickets - $300 a seat. effing criminals at the NCAA. I should go back and look at my Boston tickets from 2004. I seem to remember a lot cheaper. That and early afternoon session and evening session gave you a chance to leave and come back. Or do like I did and make a profit on selling the evening semi to BC-Maine fans - had a great lobster dinner thanks to those guys.

Going to be a blizzard in Buffalo Dickie - You'll have to miss getting back to work.

ETA: Anywhere downtown works - you just ride the light rail down to HSBC

let me know if you guys need any help with buffalo questions. I'm not going to the tourney this year after the WJC debacle in Buffalo last year.

My brother-in-law, who has been to the FF 16 times, compiled some recent price data.

2013 - $200
2014 - $230
2015 - $250
2016 - $260
2017 - $280
2018 - $250
2019 - $300

Last semifinals I attended were in DC in 2009 ... can't remember what we paid then. I paid $125 per for the 2015 final in Boston.

Blues tried to give it away, but still got the 2 points in the shootout. Bummer to not get the ROW in case it comes down to a tiebreaker.

Arizona game last night was crazy. 50 shots on Campbell, 49 saves. They drew six or so penalties to one. Still lost 3-1. And there was that gruesome injury to Kuemper.  I'm still not sure of his status and am afraid to check on it.

The Coyotes were all but eliminated with the Colorado win, something that looked very uncertain at a certain point in the night. I actually felt bad for Arizona. They thoroughly outplayed LA, who got a fluke goal with .2 left in the first, a grinder out of the corner, and then sat on the lead just absorbing everything that came their way until an empty netter. Colorado needs just either a regulation or OTL loss by Arizona or to take a game to overtime to advance to the playoffs.

A win by Arizona under the ROW category, an Arizona SO win, and two Colorado losses throws the tiebreaker, I believe, into head-to-head, with the first game subtracted from the results of the uneven home and away ice, in which case, our beloved franchise at Gila River advances.

huge test for Buffalo to get by Ottawa on the back end of a back to back on Thursday.  I have full confidence they can lose it.  this team is unbelievably clutch right now.  haven't even won a game in regulation since the trade deadline...amazing
