2019-2020 NHL Season Thread (2 Viewers)

Does anyone dare say it?

I don't know fellas, the NHL looks extraordinarily competent in running a league right now. May God and luck be with them.

lol couver. get that weak #### out of here.  see you for the sweep in game 3, Ferland.

Hate watching him 5 on 5. Excellent perimeter PP specialist. I feel like I've said this here before.
A couple of turnovers and at least twice last night he buried the puck into the corner without support on that side after a clean entry and just left the zone.

Gotta hand it to Torts, he had his guys fired up and they played their system perfectly. Had a stifling D and some intense forecheck play going all last night.

Definitely not interested in seeing Columbus in round 1 again.

I'm with you.

But for all the flak TB took last year for getting swept (and some was deserved given their dominance in the regular season), CBJ's brand of scrappy hockey can discombobulate teams who can't work or adjust past CBJ's aggressive forechecks, locking down on opposing teams' big shooters and avoiding penalties to keep the game lose into the third period.

We saw it last year, and we saw it last night -- teams who look past CBJ (who by now have some solid playoff experience) can get punched in the mouth and find it hard to gather and outwork a very scrappy, underrated team.

The NHL announced on Monday afternoon that it has had zero positive COVID-19 test results since its 24 playoff teams reported to their bubble cities of Toronto and Edmonton

In a sight unseen to the Tampa Bay Lightning they dominated the first 35 minutes, gave up a goal and then immediately turtled.

Yes it was a good game. Didn’t like how the Bolts were on their heels in the third but the caps are a great team.

Some good hockey today.

Looking forward to the Habs/Pens tilt. We'll see if Sullivan has any adjustments to make in lines, whether Price can keep standing on his head and whether the team can support him by getting out to an early lead again (one of the Pens' weaknesses is letting the other team play from ahead early) and if the Habs defense can prevent the Pens from attacking the net with bodies to clear out the crease like they did in Game 1.

To that last point, Price definitely played well but the Pens were shelling him early with SOGs -- they didn't crash the net looking for rebounds or screening the initial shot and hanging around for rebounds, giving Price some clean looks on shots and a lack of second chances. That's one thing I see Sullivan changing in Game 2.

Koskinen starting in for the Oilers tonight which is no surprise. Chicago can't give away penalties to the deadliest PP unit in hockey, and on the other side of the puck, Klefbom and Larsson need to not look like dung.

@scottcwheeler: Overheard in a discussion between security staff at Scotiabank Arena: “Carolina has a hockey team?”

Sorry, Cav
After something dawned on me, this is totally made up.  You mean they missed all the David Ayers hoopla too, that happened in that arena?   With someone who works there?  Okay, right.

Habs lucky to be only down one. Stupid penalties and sloppy play. Pens getting play from their stars but look like a 2 line team. McCann looks lost out there.

No doubt. Montreal very lucky to only be down 1. Survived 2 too many men penalties .  Drouin is so frustrating to watch. God i hate that trade.

Not sure why sheary is on the top line with crosby & guentzel, he couldn't shoot it into the ocean. Zucker needs to be up there.

Seemed like an odd timeout there, especially in 2nd period.

PP1 isn't scoring so call a TO so PP1 can stay out there on 5v3.
