Even in the 80s during the Denny Crum era? Those were some really good teams and UK was kind of mediocre.

It's not really about time spans when one team was good and the other wasn't. It's entire families with generation after generation who grew up UK fans. It's really the only sports team the entire state of Kentucky has to root for.  Louisville kind of just sets off by itself.

I grew up in Kentucky. Most of my family is still there. Very few Louisville fans in Kentucky. Not even many in Louisville.
